9 Some suggestions on how to use our wish lists... Lead a drive. Make up flyers with the important information, such as what you are collecting, when the drive will end, where the container for collection is located, and, of course, for whom you are collecting. You can use the entire list or break it down into a particular category such as paper goods, toys, hygiene products, etc. We have simplified this list down into specific categories and can you copies of these lists if you wish. Have a party! Have the price of admission be an item from the Wish List. Adopt us! Each month, or every other month, or twice a year whatever you decide bring items from a specific category. Example: April could be hygiene products month, June could be paper goods month, August could be school supplies month, etc. Caring Kits These are pre-made kits to help our kids have everything they need for different situations, such as the the Goodnight Bag the Coping Skills Bag, or the Family Surival Kit. See our Caring Kits list for more information. Get our tots ready to go. Our foster care agency would like to send infant/toddler to go totes home with families who receive an emergency placement. You can put together bags with diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, blanket, a change of clothes (gender neutral), etc. Thank you for your willingness to help us! If we can be of any help to you or answer any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at (480) ! Ask for Community Relations. We always accept new or very gently used children s items at our Shelter. If coming to the Shelter is inconvenient, there are also donation drop locations throughout the Valley. For a list of locations, please visit our website or call.
10 Caring Kits Placement Pack When a child moves into a new foster home, it s important to them to bring their own items. Fill a small plastic container with hygiene items*, socks, underwear, school supplies* and/or small toys. Kids also love to have their own watch, jewelry, hair accessories, sunglasses, flashlight, etc. Organize your boxes by gender and age (infant, toddler, 6-8 years old, 9-12 years old or teen). School Starter Stuff * Send students to school with the right stuff. Fill a sturdy backpack with a lunch box, children s scissors, crayons, spiral notebook, pencils, sharpies and pens. Hygiene Kit* The name says it all. Fill a small acrylic box or cloth bag with body wash or bar soap (wrapped), shampoo & conditioner, lotion, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, kleenex and dental floss all can be travel size. Brush Box With so many heads of hair to style, we like to keep our necessities organized. Grab a small acrylic box and add a child s comb, brush, and travel size shampoo & conditioner to it. You can even include barrettes for girls! We are also always in great need of ethnic hair products such as, Motions Hair Therapy & BB Super Grow Crème. Good Night Bag Ensure a restful night s sleep by filling a new pillowcase with pajamas, socks and a book. Parent Survival Kit Foster Care File Humor is essential when parenting, so we like to give those attending our parenting class a little something to keep their spirits up. Make a few kits by placing the following items in paper lunch sacks: cotton ball, paper clip, piece of rope, rubber band, small clock, 1 puzzle piece, small bag of nuts. Being a foster parent means lots of paperwork. Help foster parents stay organized! Purchase an accordion file and label each section as follows: Emergency, Profile, DES, Medicine, Expense, School, Training, AAFC, CFT, Services.
