In the afternoon meeting with the tour guide and welcome cocktail. Dinner and overnight. DAY 2 ISOLA BELLA/ TAORMINA / ETNA / CATANIA MONDAY Departure towards Taormina to stop at Mazzarò bay. Meeting with the boatman for a boat tour of Isola Bella, a small island connected to the mainland by a sand strip, a jewel of the Ionian coast. The day will continue in Taormina, walking through the medieval streets of the city.for its beauty and magical position it has attracted and inspired artists from all over the world. Late in the morning start to reach a cellar on the slopes of Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, where you will taste the local DOC wines accompanied by Etna specialties. After the cellar, you will be taken up to 2,000 meters altitude, where you can enjoy a splendid view of Sicily and walk on the spectacular Silvestri Craters, small volcanic cones extinct since a century. In the evening return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. DAY 3 SIRACUSA/NOTO/ MODICA TUESDAY In the morning visit of the city of Syracuse (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the largest and most beautiful Greek colony in Sicily. You will visit the Archaeological Park of Neapolis: Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Ear of Dionysius (the acoustics produces extraordinary effects) and the Latomie. You will continue to Ortigia, with the famous Fountain of Arethusa, the magnificent Cathedral, the Temple of Apollo. Lunch at a fish restaurant and departure to Noto, the most famous Baroque towns in Sicily (UNESCO World Heritage), known for its splendid cathedral, recently restored after the earthquake in the 90s. In the late afternoon arrival in Modica, a walk downtown to taste the famous chocolate, prepared according to an ancient Aztec recipe, imported by the Spanish. 2 DAY 4 RAGUSA /AGRIGENTO - WEDNESDAY In the morning visit of the baroque city of Ragusa (Unesco World Heritage Site), rich in architectural treasures. Lunch in a typical farm to taste the Ragusan hot ricotta and other local specialties. After lunch departure toward Agrigento to visit the Temple Valley: Temple of Concordia, the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Dinner and overnight at the hotel, located in Agrigento or in its surrounding area DAY 5 AGRIGENTO /PALERMO - THURSDAY Breakfast at the hotel and meeting the Chef. Brief historic / theoretic introduction of the menu to start the food preparation activities. The lesson provides an accurate demonstration of cooking procedure of raw food; enabling the students to make the same menu at home. Participants will receive an apron and recipe book. The food prepared will be tasted during lunch. After lunch we procede towards Mondello known for its golden sands, walk along the promenade; in the evening arrival in Palermo, accommodation in the hotel dinner and overnight. DAY 6 PALERMO FRIDAY Free time in the morning for shopping. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon city tour, Palermo is one of the richest in history and art cities of Sicily. You will visit the Cathedral and the Palatine Chapel, the Cathedral of Monreale famous for its precious golden mosaics. Return to the hotel in Palermo. Dinner and overnight. DAY 7 PALERMO/CEFALU/PIAZZA ARMERINA - SATURDAY Breakfast and departure to Cefalù. Visit the picturesque town located at the bottom of a tall and imposing cliff. Cefalù is full of narrow streets and seascapes, it has a glorious Cathedral, one of the most beautiful churches of the Norman period in Sicily's. Lunch in a fish restaurant and departure to Piazza Armerina to visit the Villa Romana del Casale, famous for its roman mosaics covering the floor of 46 rooms. In the evening arrival in Catania hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
