Acquire funding to support sustainability of the energy generation agenda; increasing resilience and establishing innovative solutions. Key Results Areas 1. To instil commercial acumen within the Council s carbon management agenda for the City. 2. To be the responsible officer for gaining and managing grant, revenue capital and government funding income, its overall efficient management and deployment of funding to projects, operations and external audit controls. To foster and maintain relationships with funding bodies to retain, seek and exploit further opportunities as they arise. 3. To promote and engender a positive public image of Regeneration, Investment and Housing functions, performance and outcomes supporting wider Council Services. 4. To work in partnership with Bristol and Cardiff Council s to deliver joint energy projects and develop area strategies to promote energy sustainability across the region. 5. To work in partnership with the Severn Partnership to deliver the Tidal Lagoon Project. 6. To lead on the energy programme for Newport including delivery of large scale projects including wind and solar farms and other sustainable and renewable energy sources. 7. To lead on the development of an nergy istribution Company for Newport to provide energy solutions to the local community. 8. To formulate and deliver an energy development and management strategy for Newport providing direction for energy management through thorough market and technology research, asset assessments and financial, technical and legislative business plan appraisals. 9. Organise, plan, prioritise and bid for partnership funding bids to optimise financing opportunities through partnerships Central and uropean Government funds for all Sustainability projects. in gwerthoedd Atebol, Agored, Unedig

Provide technology and business delivery models and for Newport City Centre projects, planning and management. nsure that commercial opportunities from technology, licensing, partnerships and the export of development are understood and optimised for the Council and its partners. 11. To ensure the development and operation of new infrastructure, contracts and services including the successful marketing of materials and fuels as necessary and the maximising of revenues through appropriate contracted mechanisms. 12. To play a key role within the energy strand of the Great Western Cities programme, advising and supporting senior officers and Members as required. To lead the management of Newport City Council strategy energy project, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate. nsuring that the relevant projects and team activities comply in accordance with standing orders, policy and public procurement regulations and health and safety. 13. Act as the key point of liaison for energy generation project in or that impact upon Newport. 14. To ensure that the delivery of projects, new products or services to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with planned benefits, operational specification and programme governance arrangements. 15. To set up business clusters of local talent and skills to help drive through programmes of change and support for energy and sustainability projects and initiatives. 16. To manage the communications with stakeholders and liaise with the Council s nominated Communications team as required on any media issues relating to energy projects. 17. To prepare and maintain risk registers for the Newport s Sustainability and nergy Projects and ensure that all risks and issues are regularly reviewed and managed. 18. efine performance measures by placing a high value on the views of the people of Newport and demonstrate a commitment and willingness to meet directly with customers to ensure a customer focus to the service. 19. Lead the development and delivery of regional and sub-regional partnership that contribute to the energy efficiency programme of the Council and the service area and develop and contribute towards delivering the objectives of the Service, achieving value for money for the Council taxpayer and effective service for the people of Newport. 20. Through Head of Service provide full and detailed advice on energy efficiency and strategic energy generation to the relevant Cabinet Member(s), to ensure that Members are fully informed and involved in appropriate decision making.
