1 CONNECTING TO SHEPARD FILE UPLOAD SYSTEM You have several options available to connect and upload your files: #1. Web Interface (recommended) Our web interface doesn't require any additional software besides your browser. Launch Web Interface» (Tutorial on page 2) Host: files.shepardes.com Username: sesftp Password: ftpftp

2 Connecting via Web Interface Open any browser and navigate to Login with the credentials provided When you are in the folder where you need to put the files, you have a few options. 1) You can drag and drop the files into the browser window to initiate the upload. 2) Or you can click the Upload Files button and select the files you need to upload

3 In rare circumstances using a browser to transfer files may not be optimal, for that we still have the FTP option available. #2. Native FTP Client You can connect with any standard FTP client. For Windows we recommend FileZilla, WinSCP, or SmartFTP. For Mac, we recommend Transmit, Fetch, and Cyberduck. For Linux, we recommend you use your distribution's built-in package manager to install an FTP client. FileZilla is our current recommendation, but you are free to use anything We have a tutorial to help you get setup with a native FTP client. (Tutorial on Page 4) Once your FTP program is configured, all you need to do is connect.

4 Connecting via FTP/FTPS This tutorial covers both Windows, and Mac OS X. Windows Using an FTP program to upload and download files is simply a different way to transfer files. Depending on your needs you may find that using an FTP program is better for you. The other method to transfer files to Shepard is through your online web access account. The program we will use for this tutorial is FileZilla, an easy and free FTP program. Any other FTP client you wish to use though will work just fine. First, download and install FileZilla from their website. Next, open FileZilla. At the top of the window is the Quickconnect bar. Enter ftpes://files.shepardes.com/ into the Host box, and enter your username and password into the Username and Password boxes. Click Quickconnect. NOTE: Because we used ftpes:// rather than ftp://, Filezilla will connect via secure encrypted FTP, which is almost always preferred.

5 If all was entered correctly, FileZilla will connect to Shepard and show Files/Folders on the right side of the screen under the heading Remote Site. In the left side under the heading Local Site are your computer s files. To copy files to Shepard, simply drag them to the right pane. FileZilla offers a resume feature for both uploads and downloads. If a file transfer is interrupted due to connectivity loss or closing of the application, the transfer can be resumed by reinitiating the action. For example, you can attempt to start the download again. When you do this you will be prompted with the options replace, rename or resume. Choosing resume will continue your download or upload transfer where you left off before the interruption.

6 Mac OS X The program we will use to connect to Shepard will be Cyberduck. It s free and easy to use for the purposes of this tutorial, although any FTP program will connect to Shepard. You can download the Cyberduck client for free from the App Store, or directly from their website. Once you ve downloaded Cyberduck and open it for the first time you will need to click Open Connection from the menu bar on the top left. From the new connection dialog choose FTP-SSL (Explicit AUTH TLS) from the drop down. This will connect you to Shepard s site securely. Then enter the address files.shepardes.com into the server field and your username and password into their respective boxes. Hit connect.

7 If you entered everything correctly you ll see Shepard s site and its content. You can do most things from the Action menu, including uploading and downloading. In addition, you can add files by dragging and dropping them directly into the Cyberduck window.
