Our team of specialists have over 30 years of combined school travel experience, offering a variety of trips to the British School Muscat for the past five years. Our personal and educative approach make us a leader in the field of overseas school travel and residentials for a number of schools in the Middle East and Asia. Our Muscat partner is Arabian Overland who supports GET with all trips within Oman and provides drivers and guides for our groups. All staff involved in the specialist activities are first aid trained or have higher medical training for adventure travel and are police checked. Our team of staff are qualified to lead school groups in a variety of environments and activities

5 Programme Day 1 Day 2 Day : Depart School and drive to Nizwa 0700: Breakfast 0700: Breakfast, pack and check-out 1045: Arrival at Nizwa Fort. 1030: Visit Nizwa Fort & Souq. 1200: Picnic lunch at Falaj Daris to see one of the UNESCO World Heritage Falaj of Oman. 1330: Arrange groups for the four activities Group 1: Al Hamra old village and museum Group 2: Bahla Fort (tbc) Group 3: Orienteering Group 4: Misfat al Abryeen village 1730: All groups meet at the Guest House. 1800: Room allocation 1830: Dinner 2030: Bedtime 0815: Rotation on activities: Group 1: Bahla fort (tbc) Group 2: Al Hamra old village and museum Group 3: Misfat al Abryeen Group 4: Orienteering 0830: Depart for first activity. 0930: Arrival at first activity site with activities led by the teachers and GET team. 1230: Lunch at Al Hamra - all meet for picnic lunch 1330: Rotation on activities: Group 1: Orienteering Group 2: Misfat al Abryeen Group 3: Al Hamra old village and museum Group 4: Bahla Fort (tbc) 1730: Return to Guesthouse. 1830: Evening Activity - BBQ and camp fire songs 2000: Bedtime 0830: Final rotation on activities. Group 1: Misfat Al Abryeen Group 2: Orienteering Group 3: Bahla Fort (tbc) Group 4: Al Hamra old village and museum 1230: Lunch at the old village of Tanuf and time to explore. 1400: Return to Muscat and school changing buses in Nizwa. 1600: Arrival at school Return time is subject to change. The above programme is subject to change depending on external factors, which may be beyond our control. A final outline of events will be provided before the trip.

6 Activities Visiting Nizwa Fort, Museum and Souq Orienteering - Sharaf al Alamayn: introduction to navigation and using a compass. Bahla Fort: UNESCO World Heritage site treasure hunt and explore this magnificent fort Misfat al Abryeen Village: traditional life of Jebali people and geographical location of village, natural resources and agriculture. Bait al Safa Heritage Museum: explore the traditional ways of making food and learning more of the traditions and culture of the people of Oman Al Hamra old town: from the old to the new witness the changing world of Oman.

7 Accommodation Based at the Shorfet Al-Almin, in the mountains of Sharaf al Alamayn, overlooking Al Hamra. The rooming will be based on 4 children per room. Each room will have air conditioning and en-suite bathroom. Teacher rooms will be spread throughout the campus The school has booked all rooms in the hotel There is a night and day watchman for security

8 Meals Meals are provided throughout and will consist of packed lunch and buffet breakfast and evening meals Vegetarian options are available with all meals. Dietary needs will be catered for based on the information provided by the school in advance of the trip. Please contact the school with any specific dietary requirements No pork & no nuts this includes oils, and other items used for cooking. All dishes will be kept separate when serving. Fruit juice and water will be provided on each table for breakfast and dinners. Water and fruit cordial for mixing will be available at the camp throughout the day. Water will be provided throughout and children are asked to bring a water bottle which can be filled during each day of the trip. Children will be expected to behave in a courteous manner at all times especially at the dining table.

9 Transport The children will be travelling by large luxury coach from school to Nizwa for the main part of the journey as per the school policy on school travel. The children will travel in their class groups in coaster buses once they arrive in Nizwa for the remainder of the trip until departure day. All buses will have seat-belts and children will not be travelling in the jump seats located in the aisles in the coaster buses. The coaster buses must be used to allow access to some of the sights and activities the children will be participating in, which are not accessible by large coach. The groups will be supported by four 4x4 vehicles throughout the trip.

10 Kit List The children will be staying at an altitude of approximately 2000 metres above sea level. In January it will be cold outside at night, but the group will be accommodated indoors with adequate bedding. We will be participating in some evening activities which may include going outdoors. We, therefore, recommend that all children are prepared for both hot and cold climates. The temperatures can drop to approximately 5 C on the mountain at this time of year, and possibly lower with the wind. We will not take the children outdoors if the weather is too cold. The following is a recommendation of what the children should bring. You can add other items, but please try to avoid sending too much. We recommend packing clothes in a small holdall or small suitcase. It is for only 2 nights, 3 days. Warm jacket/fleece jacket - it will be cold in the evening and we recommend the children are fully prepared for the cold Sweater/jumper Hat - Sun hat for the day time and warm hat for the evenings and gloves - possibly a scarf! Shorts/trousers (to the knees or below) - 1 pair each day 1 pair of trousers or tracksuit bottoms for the evenings T-shirts (long-sleeved and short-sleeved) Underwear Trainers for walking and each day activity Sunscreen Toiletries: shower-gel, shampoo, tooth-brush and paste Water bottle Teddy Medication which your child may be taking should be given to the teachers, labelled, with instructions. Please see the lead teacher for further information on any medical concerns. Sleeping bag *Please label all items your child brings on camp Children must not bring valuable items or expensive clothing. It is a camp. Children must be responsible for their own luggage and belongings. Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times - no crocs, flip-flops, sandals.

11 Safety Global Edventure Travel makes safety a priority when conducting a trip to any of our destinations. Global Edventures carry out a full risk assessment of a destination, its accommodations, transport, activities, eateries, sights to be visited, plus any other aspect that may be considered an issue of safety for a trip. The school will make a pre-trip inspection visit prior to the trip and complete their own risk assessment. GET follow British Standards 8848/2014 for adventurous activities outside the United Kingdom. We endeavour to follow these standards on all of our trips to ensure all risks are managed in a safe manner. It is important for all parents and the children to understand that the children will be participating in activities in an unfamiliar environment. Taking children outside their comfort zone is one of the aims of the trip to provide a challenging and rewarding experience and to heighten and develop personal confidence in a variety of new activities and visits.
