To locate the system requirements, go to: STEP 1: Software Installation For successful use of this product, the following steps must be completed before usage: 1. Installation of the guideweld VR Software Package and Curriculum, to download go to: Use the guideweld VR dmin Guide to install software NOTE: Your IT Department should take the time to successfully test the server and/or database connections, and test the creation of dmin ccount Usernames and Passwords according to the instructions in the dmin Guide. This must be done before you start using the guideweld VR Product. Contact Realityworks Product Support with any further questions. STEP 2: Hardware Setup 1. Plug the US cord into the guideweld VR workstation (Fig. 1) and into the US port of your computer. 2. Plug the power cord into the guideweld VR workstation (Fig. 1) and an electrical wall outlet. 3. Turn the workstation on/off switch from OFF (Fig. 1C) to ON (Fig. 1D). Warning: The first time the guideweld VR workstation is connected to a computer, these steps must be completed in this exact order for the hardware to be recognized by the computer and function properly! STEP 3: Connecting the Welding Gun to the Workstation fter you have hooked up your power cord and US cord, you can begin to set up your workstation by making sure you have the correct welding gun attached to the workstation, depending on what type of welding you plan on doing. Connection Steps: 1. Choose the gun (depending if your product has MIG and STICK guns or just one). 2. Line up the connection holes in the workstation with the connection pins on the connector at the end of the gun hose. (Fig. 2) C Figure 1 through 1D. 2 3. Once you feel that the pins are in the correct location, you will want to twist the tightening lock on the gun hose connector to make sure it is securely fastened. (Fig. 2) 4. Keep this gun attached until you are ready to do welding with the other welding process available, then repeat above instructions. NOTE: This may be cumbersome the first time, but with a little practice it becomes easier to maneuver. STEP 3: Software ccount Setup & Login Logging in and Changing from Default Password Configuration Screen Configuration screen will be displayed (Fig. 3). On the screen, you will see the following information: 1. LNGUGE: The default language is English (US). 2. RESOLUTION: option allows you to select a value for the size of the simulator window 3. FULLSCREEN: If it is in the OFF mode, then you will have a windowed view of the software. 4. GRPHICS: reduce or increase the amount of graphic usage that the software will need. Log In to guideweld VR Simulator Launch the guideweld VR welding simulator on your computer. You will find the simulator icon ( launch on your desktop or taskbar. If this icon is not present. lert your IT department for guidance. 1. When the Login screen (Fig. 4) is displayed, enter the dmin ccount username and the default password, this should have been set up by your IT Department. The password can be changed during the Installation set-up in our dmin Guide. During installation your IT Department was asked to create the password as follows: USERNME: DMIN PSSWORD: 123abc NOTE: If your username and password do not work for the dmin ccount, check with your IT Department or personnel. See the Instructor Guide for more in-depth information. 2. Click the Right rrow button on the bottom-right hand corner of the screen. 3. Inside the dmin ccount, please create an Instructor ccount username and password for your new Instructor ccount. 4. Log out of the dmin ccount, and login using your new Instructor ccount Username and Password. 5. The Change Password screen (Fig. 5) will be displayed. 6. Choose a new password. Enter it in the NEW PSSWORD field, then click the Save button. The Main Instructor screen will be displayed. Passwords must be 6-14 characters and you may only use letters -Z and numbers 0-9, with no spaces used. NOTE: The first time you will be asked to change your default password after you click the arrow button. Enter your unique password in the NEW PSSWORD field, then click the SVE button. 3 guideweld VR SOFTWRE CCOUNT SETUP STEP 1: Creating Classes efore STUDENT USER CCOUNTS can be created, the Instructor needs to CRETE CLSSES inside their INSTRUCTOR CCOUNT.. Sign on with INSTRUCTOR CCOUNT information and click on the DD CLSS button ( ). NOTE: The class name cannot be more than 12 characters.. Type in the name of the class. NOTE: Upon entering the CLSS NME, be sure to click the SVE button ( ). This now assigns the class to yourself. C. Click on the EDIT STUDENT icon ( ) to create STUDENT CCOUNTS. STEP 2: Creating Student ccounts Edit Student Icon: Clicking the EDIT STUDENT icon ( dd Student Delete Student ) grants access to the following actions: DD STUDENT: long the bottom row of the screen, type the last name of the student within the first box and the student s first name in the second. username and password will be created. The password will default to PSSWORD showing up in their respective boxes. Click the dd Student button ( ). DELETE STUDENT: To remove a student, click the DELETE icon ( the system. ) corresponding with the student name needing to be deleted. This will remove that student from STEP 3: Creating Class ssignments On the Instructor Main Page, clicking on the EDIT CLSS icon ( ) grants access to the following actions: set of default WPS s have been created for you. Preapproved assignments or Welding Procedure Sheets (WPS) provided by Realityworks are accessible, along with the ability to create customized welds. In addition, you have the power to create and name your own assignment. Default CLSS SSIGNMENTS: Default WPS s that have already been implemented into the software. New CLSS SSIGNMENTS: You can also create your own SSIGNMENTS by selecting the parameters you want, including travel angle, work angle, speed, material, and more. Press SVE WPS to save this new assignment. Once you save the assignment, it will show up in the list of available assignments on the left side of the screen (See Instructor Guide for more details). Figure 6. ssignments screen DDING SSIGNMENTS TO YOUR CLSS: Press the + icon to the right of the assignment name (Fig. 6) to move it from the VILLE SSIGNMENTS list on the left side to the CLSS SSIGNMENT on the right side. The assignment is now assigned to the class and all students in it. DELETING SSIGNMENTS FROM YOUR CLSS: Press the - icon to the left of the assignment (Fig. 6) under the CLSS SSIGNMENT column to remove the assignment from the class and Student ccounts. Page 3

4 guideweld VR Data Collection CLSS REPORTS: Click on the CLSS REPORT icon ( ) to review the following (Fig.7): SSIGNMENT: Identifies the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) specification assigned to a class. SSIGNMENT DETIL: Identifies the details of the assignment. MTERIL SVINGS: Identifies the monetary savings of utilizing guideweld VR versus actual welding materials for the assignment. CLSS VERGE: Identifies the class average of all the test grades from each of the students in the class for the specific assignment. TOTL CLSS VERGE: Identifies the class average of all tests completed for a specific class. TOTL MTERIL SVINGS: Identifies the total monetary savings of utilizing guideweld VR versus actual welding materials for the class on all assignments. Figure 7. Class Report screen STUDENT REPORTS: Click on the STUDENT REPORT icon ( selected (Fig.8). ) to see the result of each student in the class STUDENT: Click on the Student s name along the left hand side of the screen to view their performance within the class. For each Student selected, you can view their assignments in the class and their progress on those assignments. REVIEWING STUDENT REPORTS: The ssignment Results screen will be displayed for the weld you just completed (Fig. 9). If your performance (indicated by the orange line) is inside the gray-shaded area, you did well. If not, more practice is needed. Other actions you can take from the ssignment Results screen:. View an overall score for the completed weld (Fig. 9).. To view a video of the completed weld, click the Play Video button (Fig. 9). C. To view the weld history, which shows a graph of your scores each time you executed this assignment, click the HISTORY icon (Fig. 9C). D. To print a copy of your ssignment Results, click the Print button (Fig. 9D). When you are finished viewing your results and wish to exit to the Student Main screen, click the ack button (Fig. 9E). Verify that the guideweld VR workstation is connected to your computer and powered on. 2. In the Main Student screen of the guideweld VR welding simulator, choose the assignment you wish to start, and click on the PRCTICE button for that assignment. The guideweld VR welding simulator screen will be displayed. 3. Choose the coupon (Tee, lap or butt joint) which matches the assignment you selected, and place it on your guideweld VR workstation. 5 INSIDE guideweld VR SIMULTION WELDING OOTH continued Warning: Make sure you have the correct welding gun attached for the assignment. If the incorrect gun is attached you will need to follow the following procedures (example: you choose a MIG assignment with the STICK gun attached): STEP 1: Power OFF the guideweld VR workstation STEP 2: Disconnect incorrect welding gun and connect correct welding gun STEP 3: Power ON the guideweld VR workstation STEP 4: click on the Close button (Fig. 10) and retry going into the weld assignment again. Figure 10. Switch Welding Gun pop-up window TCKING THE COUPON 1. Ensure that the message TCK LEFT SIDE OF PLTE S SHOWN is displayed in the simulator (Fig. 11). NOTE: If the TCK LEFT SIDE OF PLTE S SHOWN does not show up, then the software has not detected the workstation. Check the connections of the workstation if this occurs. 2. ring the welding gun into the position shown on the screen (Fig. 11), which has the nozzle centered on the far left edge touching the coupon, at a 45 degree work angle, pointed at the center of the joint. (For example, in a Tee joint, the correct position will be touching both the vertical and horizontal plates.) NOTE: For a Tee and Lap Joint, you will want to position the gun at a 45 degree angle and the gun handle parallel to the edge of the coupon. For a utt Joint, you will want to position the gun at a 90 degree angle and the gun handle parallel to the edge of the coupon. 3. Once the gun is in position, pull the trigger for a moment and release it. You will know that this completed successfully if the TCK RIGHT SIDE OF PLTE S SHOWN message (Fig. 11) is displayed in the simulator. 4. s directed by the message on the screen, position the welding gun on the right side of the coupon (Fig. 11) as described in Step 2, then pull the trigger for a moment and release it. 6 INSIDE guideweld VR SIMULTION (Student ccount) Inside a Student ccount, you can choose Practice icon to go into the Welding Simulation and do a virtual weld. fter you have practiced you can click on the Test icon to do a virtual weld as a test. Once inside the simulation, you can do the following: SIMULTION GUIDNCE: Provided within PRCTICE mode for guideweld VR. The following visual guides assist the user in perfecting their weld. Each guide is turned on when the user enters the PRCTICE mode. NOTE: Guides can be turned off by the user. 1. WORK NGLE: TOP LEFT CORNER shows if the welding gun is moving up or down too far and out of proper technique. 2. TRVEL NGLE: TOP RIGHT CORNER shows if the welding gun is moving too far left or right, or out of proper position. 3. SPEED: IN FRONT OF WELDING GUN ND COUPON shows the travel speed and gives a plus sign when speed should increase and a minus sign when speed should decrease. 4. NOZZLE TO PLTE DISTNCE: ON WELDING NOZZLE/ELECTRODE shows correct distance from the work coupon and the gun nozzle. If positioning is correct, a green circle will appear, while a red arrow will appear when out of position. 5. STRIGHTNESS: OVE ND ELOW THE METL the dotted line shows right location on the work coupon. TESTING vs. PRCTICE: Students must get a grade higher than 50% in PRCTICE mode before being allowed into TEST mode. TEST mode does not have technique guides. Only PRCTICE mode allows technique guides to be turned on. Changing Viewing ngle While Welding: During the welding simulation, you may change the angle, the zoom, and the view.. Click the arrows around the camera icon at the bottom of the screen (Fig. 13). (Hold down the left mouse button and drag your mouse to the left or right for the same function). djusting ZOOM simulates moving closer to your weld to get a closer look. (Fig. 13). (Hold down the right mouse button and drag the mouse forward and backward, for the same function) C. djusting your VIEW simulates stepping to the left or right to change your view of your workstation (Fig 13C). (Hold down both mouse buttons and move the mouse left or right). D. To Reset your view, click the Reset icon on the bottom of your screen (Fig. 13D). E.
