Facilitators identify safety and health principles that help you meet OSHA requirements, mitigate risk and prevent injury. The OSHA 10-Hour for Highway Contractors focuses on the areas of construction most common to horizontal work. Emphasis is placed on areas in construction that most commonly result in injury or damage. The OSHA 30-Hour covers all topics covered in the OSHA 10-Hour but to a greater depth. While the OSHA 10-Hour delivers a basic understanding of safety regulations and practices, suitable for all field personnel, the OSHA 30-Hour provides attendees with a solid base of knowledge in hazard awareness and control measures suitable for superintendents, foremen and other lead staff. The 30-Hour will be offered in two formats; on 4 consecutive days and on 4 consecutive Mondays (see dates below). 3 AGC/DOT Supervisor Safety Training Developed in cooperation between the AGC of South Dakota and the South Dakota DOT, the Supervisor Safety Training (SST) course covers site safety management, hazards common to roadway safety and best practices for mitigating risk. The SST combines traditional training with interactive education and presentation. Participants will leave with a greater awareness of highway safety and the ability to address the hazards before they result in injury or property damage. This course is ideal for construction superintendents, foremen and DOT field staff. Tuition: $120 ($80 Member Rate) Time: 9:00am 4:00pm Min/Max Participants: 30/60 Sioux Falls Jan. 6, 2014 Rapid City Feb. 4, 2014 Aberdeen Feb. 25, 2014 Pierre Mar. 11, 2014 Highway Worker Safety Training AGC of America and Zurich Services Corporation have developed a program designed to increase hazard awareness and demonstrate the appropriate control measures to address highway worker safety exposures. The program focuses on preventing the leading causes of highway worker fatalities (Focus Four) and serious soft tissue injuries (Plus One). We call this the Focus Four Plus One concept. The program is designed for all levels of an organization including employees, field supervision and project management personnel. Organizations involved in highway, street and road construction, utility installation, roadway maintenance and landscaping will yield the most benefit. SD DOT requirements include training for, and competency of, flaggers for roadway project safety. This Course meets the requirements of the South Dakota Department of Transportation and the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices). Attendees who successfully complete the course will receive their South Dakota DOT Flagger card. 4 Aerial Work Platform (AWP) Operator Training The Aerial Work Platform Operator Training course educates attendees in the safe operation of scissor lifts, boom lifts and articulating lifts. This course covers the principles and hazards associated with operating an AWP as well as the unique characteristics of AWPs that operators will commonly operate. Trainees will need to demonstrate comprehension through a written test in addition to practical competency through a hands-on operation of a AWP. Successful participants will receive a laminated certification card. 5 Part 46 MSHA Annual Refresher MSHA training is required for all employees and independent contractors working in or around mining operations that are: engaged in mining operations, including developing, drilling, blasting, extracting, milling, crushing, screening or sizing materials, or hauling materials within the mine; a maintenance or service worker, working on mining equipment for frequent (a pattern of recurring exposure) or extended periods (more than five consecutive work days); or a construction worker who is exposed to hazards of mining operations for frequent or extended periods.
