2 LIMITED WARRANTY E YEAR FROM DATE OF PURCHASE All merchandise manufactured by DeVilbiss Air Power Company is warranted to be free of defects in workmanship and material which occur during the first year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (initial user). Products covered under this warranty include: air compressors, *air tools, accessories, service parts, pressure washers, and generators used in consumer applications (i.e., personal residential household usage only). Air compressors, *air tools, accessories, service parts, pressure washers, and generators used in commercial applications (income producing) are covered by a 90 day warranty. DeVilbiss Air Power will repair or replace, at DeVilbiss's option, products or components which have failed within the warranty period. Repair or replacement, and service calls on 60 and 80 gallon air compressors, will be handled by Authorized Warranty Service Centers and will be scheduled and serviced according to the normal work flow and business hours at the service center location, and depending on the availability of replacement parts. All decisions of DeVilbiss Air Power Company with regard to this policy shall be final. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. RESPSIBILITY OF ORIGINAL PURCHASER (Initial User): o Retain original cash register sales receipt as proof of purchase for warranty work. o Use reasonable care in the operation and maintenance of the product as described in the Owners Manual(s). o Deliver or ship the product to the nearest DeVilbiss Air Power Authorized Warranty Service Center. Freight costs, if any, must be paid by the purchaser. o Air compressors with 60 and 80 gallon tanks only will be inspected at the site of installation. Contact the nearest Authorized Warranty Service Center, that provides on-site service calls, for service call arrangement. o If the purchaser does not receive satisfactory results from the Authorized Warranty Service Center, the purchaser should contact DeVilbiss Air Power Company. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER: o Merchandise sold as reconditioned, floor models and/or display models. Any damaged or incomplete equipment sold "as is". o Merchandise used as "rental" equipment. o Merchandise that has become inoperative because of ordinary wear, misuse, freeze damage, use of improper chemicals, negligence, accident, improper and/or unauthorized repair or alterations including failure to operate the product in accordance with the instructions provided in the Owners Manual (s) supplied 2 with the product. *Air Tools: O-Rings and driver blades are considered ordinary wear parts, therefore, they are warranted for a period of 45 days from the date of purchase. o An air compressor that pumps air more than 50% during a one hour period is considered misuse because the air compressor is undersized for the required air demand. Maximum compressor pumping time per hour is 30 minutes. o Merchandise sold by DeVilbiss Air Power which has been manufactured by and identified as the product of another company. The product manufacturer's warranty will apply. o Repair and transportation costs of merchandise determined not to be defective. o Cost associated with assembly, required oil, adjustments or other installation and start-up cost. o ANY INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR CSEQUENTIAL LOSS, DAMAGE, OR EXPENSE THAT MAY RESULT FROM ANY DEFECT, FAILURE OR MALFUNCTI OF THE PRODUCT. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. o IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THOSE OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE LIMITED TO E YEAR FROM THE DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE. 3 CORDLESS INFLATOR WARNINGS This manual contains information that is important for you to know and understand. This information relates to protecting YOUR SAFETY and PREVENTING EQUIPMENT PROBLEMS. To help you recognize this information, we use the following symbols. Please read the manual and pay attention to these sections. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATI - A HAZARD THAT MIGHT CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE. Information for preventing damage to equipment. IMPROPER OPERATI OF THIS EQUIPMENT COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY HAZARD WHAT CAN HAPPEN HOW TO PREVENT IT RISK OF EXPLOSI RISK OF EYE INJURY Your compressor is capable of producing compressed AIR at HIGH PRESSURE which could cause tires, toys and other inflatables to EXPLODE, resulting in serious injury. Toys such as footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, beach balls, etc. REQUIRE VERY LOW AIR PRESSURE to inflate. OVER INFLATI can result in a VIOLENT EXPLOSI. Your air hose is equipped with a universal adapter. Its purpose is to permit attachment of inflation accessories. Use of the clamp for UNATTENDED INFLATI COULD RESULT IN EXPLOSI causing serious injury. Internal electrical components generate sparks which could ignite flammable vapors. Compressed air stream can propel solid objects, dirt and dust, glass particles, etc. at high speed, resulting in serious eye injury. Never exceed the maximum pressure rating of any inflatable. Check pressure frequently during inflation. NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO OPERATE YOUR AIR COMPRESSOR! Control air pressure into such equipment by adding small amount of air at a time, checking the increase in pressure each time before adding more air. Read and follow Equipment Manufacturer s recommendations for proper inflation. NEVER USE THE UNIVERSAL ADAPTER AS MEANS OF UNATTENDED INFLATI! AIR PRESSURE CAN QUICKLY RISE TO DANGEROUS LEVELS! If the chuck is attached to a tire valve stem or inflation attachment, stay with and MITOR THE INFLATI until it has been completed. Never operate compressor near gasoline or other flammable vapors. Use in a well ventilated area. Always wear ANSI Z87.1 Approved Safety Glasses when using this equipment. 3

4 OPERATING INSTRUCTIS The Air220 is operated by a 3-way switch. Position 1 (OFF/RECHARGE): Main power turns off and the battery can be recharged by AC Charger or Car Battery in this mode. Position 2 (POWER ): DC 12V Power Supply and light turns on. The battery Indicator will show the battery condition. Position 3 (COMPRESSOR ): Air Compressor turns on. 1. AIR COMPRESSOR OPERATI Snap the valve adaptor to valve stem for tire inflation or insert appropriate nozzle adaptor for inflatable articles. Push the lever down to lock into place. Switch on the compressor (POSITI 3) and check pressure with the pressure gauge. When desired pressure is reached, push the switch to CENTER position (POSITI 2) to turn off the compressor and open the lever. At full charge, the compressor can inflate 10 car tires from 0 to 30 PSI, provided that the unit is allowed to cool down for 10 minutes before inflating each tire. Typical inflating time is approximately 7 minutes. 2. DC 12V POWER SUPPLY OPERATI The AIR220 can supply power to all DC 12V items with rating below 15A by simply connecting item s plug into the 12V OUTPUT socket. Push the switch to CENTER position (POSITI 2). Power Supply is ready to use if green light is on. Do not attempt to connect items exceeding DC 12V 15A rating. Light/Flashlight Operation Turn on the power by pushing the main switch to CENTER position (POSITI 2). By pushing the light switch to LIGHT position, the light will go into the continuous beam mode. By pushing the same switch to FLASH position, the light will go into the flashing beam mode. By pushing the switch in the middle position, it will turn off. To change the lens to white, simply pull the red lens out with your fingers from the slots on both sides of the light head. Working time for built-in light: 8 hours from full charge. 4

5 CHARGING THE UNIT The battery in the AIR220 can be recharged repeatedly (typically times, provided normal operating procedures are followed). AC CHARGING METHOD By the AC 120V Recharging Adapter 1. Place the power switch in RECHARGE position (POSITI 1). 2. Plug the jack of AC charger into charging socket front panel (12V Input). 3. Plug charger into a 120V electrical outlet. 4. The RED CHARGING LIGHT will come on. Recharging time is 13 to 15 hours by AC charger. DC CHARGING METHOD By the DC 12V Recharging Adapter The AIR220 can also be recharged by CAR BATTERY while driving. 1. Place the power switch in RECHARGE position (POSITI 1). 2. Plug the jack of recharging cable into charging socket on front panel (12V Input). 3. Plug the cigarette plug into 12V car's lighter socket. 4. The RED CHARGING LIGHT will come on. Recharging time is 3-5 hours while driving. Recharging while car engine is not running may drain off car's battery and IS NOT RECOMMENDED. BATTERY INDICATOR The battery indicator on front panel will indicate the built-in battery condition once the switch is pushed to CENTER position (POSITI 2). The GREEN LIGHT indicates a charged battery. The YELLOW LIGHT indicates the battery is low and needs recharging. GREEN LIGHT OFF YELLOW LIGHT OFF BATTERY INDICATI FULL TO NORMAL WEAK NEEDS RECHARGING EXHAUSTED NEED RECHARGING IMMEDIATELY IF THE YELLOW LIGHT COMES FIRST, THE BATTERY IS WEAK AND SHOULD BE RECHARGED. DO NOT CTINUE TO OPERATE THE UNIT AFTER THE GREEN LIGHT TURNS OFF, RECHARGE THE UNIT IMMEDIATELY. IF THE BATTERY POWER IS TOTALLY DRAINED, PERMANENT BATTERY FAILURE WILL OCCUR, IT MAY NOT BE RECHARGEABLE. FOR MAINTAINING THE BATTERY, RECHARGE CE EVERY 3 TO 5 MTHS EVEN IF THE UNIT IS UNATTENDED. 5

6 FUSE REPLACEMENT 1. Make sure that the switch is in the OFF/RECHARGE position (POSITI 1) and the 12V OUTPUT socket and any recharging adapters are disconnected. 2. Insert flat object into slot to open fuse cover. 3. Replace with new 15A FUSE LY, close the cover. NEVER replace a fuse with a HIGHER AMPERE FUSE. As this will cause permanent damage to the unit. PRODUCT SAFEGUARDS 1. DO NOT CTINUE TO OPERATE THE UNIT AFTER THE YELLOW LIGHT LY COMES. RECHARGE THE UNIT IMMEDIATELY. PERMANENT BATTERY FAILURE WILL OCCUR. 2. Only use the provided Recharging Adapters. 3. Avoid charging battery in ambient temperature below 40ºF (5º C) or above 105ºF (40º C). 4. Do not operate unit while charging. 5. Do not expose unit to rain. 6. Do not put metal objects into DC 12V OUTPUT socket. 7. Never use a fuse with a higher ampere rating, replace with 15A fuse only. 8. Allow compressor to cool for 15 minutes after each 15 minutes of continuous operation. Over usage could cause motor failure. 9. Never attempt to start the car engine while the inflator/compressor is still connected to the car's cigarette lighter plug. Blown fuse may occur. 10. Recharge the unit once every 3 to 5 months even if the unit is unattended. AIR220 BREAKDOWN
