Each competitor must write the name and phone number of his/her contact person on the backside of the number. EXPORT OF EQUIPMENT TO THE TRANSITION AREA: The checking of bikes, helmets and, in M / F series, shoes will take place on Saturday at from 10: 30 to -11: 30. Each competitor must come to the check in person. The transition area has numbered places for competitors. Each place has a box where all loose bike fittings must be placed before the competition and transitions (T1 and T2). You may attach the shoes ready to the bike, all other equipment (helmet, race number, etc.) in the box. Bikes should be hung on a rack securely, either by the saddle or handlebars. The transition area must be empty of competitors and other persons by no later than at 12:00. The transition area is under surveillance. The handing over of bikes and other equipment after the race is to be carried out only personally and against a race number! COMPETITION: The competitor's equipment must be marked with numbers when entering the starting area. All of the equipment in the transition area must be put in the box reserved for them. Do not leave valuables in the transition area. The timing tag must be attached. Separate instructions will be given on this.
Do not put the race number on under the wetsuit A swim warm-up is possible before the start. The warm-up finishes at 11:50. Start: The start takes place from the water, the starting line is formed with the boats of the organizer. The start times are staggered, beginning at 12:00. Everyone has to go to the start area through a box reserved for it. Swimming: The swimming route consists of three tracks of different distances (250m, 500m, 1000m), which are to be circuited once on each swim. The start takes place from the water at all distances. Use of a wet suit is mandatory in the Finnish Championship series and desirable fitness series as well. The water temperature is typically degrees, but during the 2015 race, the water temperature was 19 degrees. Even a cooler temperature is possible in the Finnish summer! Since a large part of the body's heat is lost through the head, you should wear two bathing caps when swimming in cool waters. When using two caps, you must remember to put the organizer s cap on top. The swimming route is controlled from boats. In case of emergency, you will receive help by waving your hand to the officials. All competitors are also obliged to immediately notify officials if they find another competitor in distress. Transition (T1): The transition area is located on the beachfront, on the tennis court of the Holiday Club Resort. After beaching, you run about 50 m to the transition area. You can take off the wet suit on the way, but you must carry it with you. You enter the transition area from the end of the tennis court and exit at the left rear corner as seen from the beach. Changing takes place in the vicinity of your numbered place without disturbing the other competitors. All equipment used during the swimming must be submitted to your personal box. Put on the number for the cycling segment, it should be on the back. Helmets must be attached when exiting the transition area. The cycling segment starts from the spot outside the transition area. Cycle: The cycling route is marked with ribbons and arrows, in some areas with a chalk line. The cycling segment starts from the spot outside the transition area. You may start cycling after crossing this point. The cycling route goes up hill from the transition area and turns left, then runs behind the hotel on the street Kylpyläntie. Ride along the bicycle road up the street Tiuruniementie and take the bicycle road. Ride along the bike road for approx. 400 meters, after which the route turns left into the terrain and the underpass for the street Tiuruniementie. After the tunnel, the route continues on the left side of the parking area of Atreenalin adventure park towards the terrain. The off-road tour is about 10 km long. The route runs on a ski track base and a hiking trail, as well as on a
bike road at the end. This year's route passes through the finish and transition area on each round. There are no large roots on the route, but it is, however, genuine off-road biking. You ride 1 to 4 laps, depending on the distance. Each competitor is responsible for ensuring that he/she completes the right amount of laps. PLEASE NOTE that appr. 500 m of the bicycle roads along the streets Kylpyläntie and Tiuruniementie are also used in the running segment! The runners use the right side of the road and they can be passed onthe left hand side. The route in more detail: see route map. Each competitor is responsible for his/her own bike maintenance (spare tires / spare parts). For any maintenance or other stops, you must to move aside from the trail so that others can move forward. Since the route is rotated several times and the starts are staggered, it is likely that some of the competitors will be passed by faster competitors. Slower ones are obliged to give room to the quicker competitors because passing in the terrain may be otherwise difficult and cause unnecessary risks. If you have to interrupt the cycling segment of the race, please report it to the officials on the route. If you notice any other competitor in distress, please notify the official on the route. The organizer has an ATV, which can be used for transfers from the terrain, if necessary. Cycling and running transition (T2): The cycling segment ends on the line before the transition area. You must get up off the seat before this point. The helmet must not be removed until after the end of the cycling segment. In the transition area, the competitor will hang their bike securely themselves on the rack and leave all cycling accessories in the box. The race number must be placed on the front during the running segment. Run: The 1st feed station is located next to the competition finish area right after the transition area. This station is also used in the 2nd round of the running segment. The running trail is about 5 km long and marked on the terrain with chalk lines and / or arrows. The trail shall be run one or two times, depending on the race distance. At the beginning of the route, there is about 800 meters of grass / asphalt. The terrain part is a trail with a sand / soil surface, and it has reasonable altitude differences. The last 600 meters of the route is a road/bicycle road with a sand / asphalt surface. The running trail comes from the transition area up along a lawn area, turns to the left under the Holiday Club Pavilion and then to the right up to the street Kylpyläntie, from which you run to the street Tiuruniementie bicycle road. After the tunnel, you turn left onto the terrain. PLEASE NOTE that the runners use the right side of the bicycle road. Cyclists will overtake the runners on the left side! After passing the tunnel (about 800 m from the transition area), turn left onto the terrain. The route proceeds along an old ski track towards Imatra Ukonniemi region. The turning point where the
2nd feed station is located, is at a distance of about 2.8 km. After the turning point, you continue on the ski track base towards Rauha. The terrain has altitude differences, the route is a sand / soilsurfaced track and trail. At a distance of about 4 km, turn left to the path following the right edge of the field, from where you move onto the bicycle road. The running segment returns back to the transition area through the beach, bypassing the transition area. After the transition area, those performing the 5 km distance run to the finish zone, while those running 10 km continue on the second round. Feed stations: The cycling route has 1 feed station, which is located in connection with the race centre. The competitors pass this station once every 10 km circuit. Water/ sports drinks in a bottle, and gels, are on offer. It is also possible to carry out one s own servicing at this point. The running section has 2 feed stations, the first is located in exact proximity after the transition area and the 2 nd is at about the 2.8 km point, at the turning area. Both stations offer water and sports drinks in mugs, and gels. The finishing area has a finish service, offering water, sports drinks and small snacks. Finish: The finish of the race is located alongside the transition area. When arriving at the finish, take care that you return your timing tag. Officials will collect the tags at the finish area. We will charge 30 euros for any unreturned tags. Those at the finish line will receive Finisher- shirts and a Finisher- medal. The finish service is located directly after the finish. Water, sports drinks and small snacks are on offer. The participation fee includes buffet dining after the competition at the Holiday Club s Easy Kitchen restaurant. Preliminary plan (the schedule will be confirmed later on). Easy Kitchen is open to competitors from 2pm- 5 pm. In so far as you are unable to attend the dining, it will open again for dinner at 6pm. The participation fee includes use of the Holiday Club Cirque de Saimaa - spa. You can wash and enter the spa world by showing your spa ticket at the cashier. The awards ceremony will take place at 5.30pm, , at the finish area. In so far as the weather demands, the ceremony will take place in the lobby of the Holiday Club conference department. The lottery prize of the mountain bike will be drawn between the competitors present at the awards ceremony.
Results service The competition utilizes electronic timing. Additional information will be provided later on. Competition guidelines Duathlon The distances of the duathlon are as follows: running 2.7 km- cycling 10 km running 2.7 km The duathlon competition only involves men and women s series races. There are no limitations concerning the cycles, but due to the demands of the terrain, a cycle that is suitable for cross-country riding is recommended. Duathlon run 1 and run 2: The start of the duathlon takes place with a common start at 1pm from the triathlon finish area. Both of the running sections of the duathlon take place on the same 2.7km circuit. The route is, on the starting and finishing sections, the same as the triathlon run. Please note that when transitioning from the side of Tiuruniementie into the terrain, the duathlon route turns to the left in the terrain, straightening out along the golf course maintenance road and paths back to the shore of Lake Saimaa back and the bike path, along which one returns back to the competition centre. The circuit is completed once in both runs. Duathlon cycling The cycling route is the same as in the triathlon. See the cycling section. In the duathlon, competitors cycle one circuit measuring 10 km. When arriving at the finish, take care that you return the timer tags to an organiser. PROTESTS AND APPEAL PROCEDURE A protest can be made against the actions of a competitor, the organizer of the competition or a referee. The protest is to be made by a competitor. The protest must be submitted in writing to the Judicial Council and shall be accompanied by a protest fee. The time for protest time ends 120 minutes after the finish line has been crossed. If the protest is accepted, 50% of the fee will be refunded to the competitor.
