2 APRIL SCHOOL VACATION CAMP A variety of games, activities and field trips! For boys and girls in grades K 5 April 20 th 24 th 8:30 3:30 $105 per child At the Hut Participants must bring a bag lunch, snack and drink each day. Limited registrations accepted. Pre registration required. APRIL VACATION SOCCER CAMP Run by UK International Monday, April 20 th Friday, April 24 th Ages 4 6 9:00 10:30 am $85 Ages :00 noon $125 All participants will receive a ball and tshirt! Camp will be held at Rogers High School. Pre registration is required! HOMESCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION Classes will consist of physical fitness and exercise through various games and activities. Mondays, April 6 th May 11 th Grades K-5 1:00-1:45 Grades :45-2:30 Cost: $15 per person PICKLEBALL Catch the latest athletic craze to sweep the nation! Similar to tennis and badminton, this smaller court sport is great fun for adults of all ages! NO experience necessary! All equipment provided! Thursdays, 7:15 pm April 9 th May 14 th $25 for the six week session Or $5 drop in fee per class BOOT CAMP FITNESS Instructed by Nico Erausquin This class will consist of a variety of body weight exercises, cardio fitness and circuit strength stations. Open to both men and women! Each workout can be tailored toward the individual s abilities. SPRING YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS Run in conjunction with Coastal Tennis All lessons held at the Vernon Park Courts Sundays beginning April 12 th to May 17 th CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED! Ages 4 5 1:00 1:30 Ages 6 8 1:30 2:30 Ages :30 3:30 Ages 11+ 3:30 4:30 Cost: $65 residents / $75 non residents SUMMER YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS Run by Newport Recreation This summer the Newport Recreation Department will again be offering our flex schedule for our youth tennis lessons. No more being locked in to a particular day and time. This year, you will be able to purchase lessons on a daily basis. At the time of registration you will purchase a punch card valid for six tennis lessons. You can use the punch card at any time or day that our lessons are offered. These days and times can vary to fit your schedule! Going away and missing a whole week? Not a problem, you can use your card to attend one, or multiple lessons the following week! Attending another camp this week? Not a problem, use your punch card next week! It s simple and easy! Once you finish your six punches, you can purchase another card of six and continue the lessons! Lessons will begin the week of July 6 th and end on Aug. 13 th Mondays and Wednesdays Rogers High School Tuesdays and Thursdays Vernon Park Courts Lessons are offered at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 am Cost: $45

3 Newport Recreation Department Summer Day Camp Programs PLAYGROUND PROGRAM Rookies boys and girls entering grades K 1 in the fall of 2015 Intermediates boys and girls entering grades 2 4 in the fall of 2015 Both the rookies and the intermediates meet at Vernon Park. In the event of rain, we meet at the Hut. The program runs from June 29 th Aug. 21 st Camp runs from 8:00 am 3:00 pm. Extended hours are available until 5:30 pm. Both the rookies and the intermediates will participate in a variety of games and activities during the week, as well as arts and crafts, tennis lessons, and weekly offisland field trips. A bag lunch is also included! Our playground program is staffed with trained leaders who are certified in CPR and first aid. Our maximum camper to staff ratio is 10:1. Theme weeks Every week will be a different theme and will include special events or visitors. June 29 th July 3 rd July 6 th 10 th July 13 th 17 th July 20 th 24 th July 27 th 31 st Aug. 3 rd 7 th Aug. 10 th 14 th Aug. 17 th 21 st Holiday Happenings Superhero Week Hollywood Week Birthday Week Animal Adventures Around The World All Sorts of Sports Wet and Wild EXTREME TEEN CLUB For boys and girls entering grades 5-8 in the fall of 2015 The Extreme Teen Club provides middle school aged students a place to congregate and participate in a supervised environment. A variety of activities, both active and passive, are offered. The Extreme Teen Club meets at The Hut from 8:00 am- 3:00 pm. Extended hours are available until 5:30. Weekly off island field trips to places such as Sky Zone, Water Wizz, and the Pawsox are all included in the weekly fee, as is a bag lunch! The Extreme Teen Club is staffed by trained leaders certified in CPR and first aid. The maximum camper to staff ratio is 10:1. The Extreme Teen Club is offered in weekly sessions beginning June 29 th and ending August 21 st. C.I.T LEADERSHIP PROGRAM The CIT (Counselor in Training) program is designed to prepare participants as a future camp counselor. Participants will develop leadership skills, learn team building and communication skills, as well as the confidence needed to work with peers and children. The CIT will be integrated into the camp program in order to get hands on experience and shadow veteran staff members. Open to boys and girls entering grades 9 & 10 in the fall July 13-Aug. 21 Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays only 10:00-3:00 (Fridays 8:00-3:00) Cost: $175 Limited to Newport residents ONLY! REGISTRATION OPTIONS AND FEES You may register for the Playground Program and the Extreme Teen Club on a daily or weekly basis. Please be advised that you must register for a minimum of two days. These days MUST be confirmed in advance!! All payments must be made at the Recreation office and pre registration is required. The camp staff is not authorized to collect any payments. Payments must be made at least one week in advance. Visa and Mastercard are accepted, as well as cash and checks made payable to the City of Newport. Option A: 8:00 am 3:00 pm Weekly Rate: $105 ** *** Daily Rate (no trip): $ 30 Daily Rate (with trip): $ 40 Option B: 8:00 am 5:30 pm Weekly Rate: $130 ** *** Daily Rate (no trip): $ 40 Daily Rate (with trip): $ 50 ** price for week 8 is $125 for A, $150 for option B ***In order to be eligible for week 8, you must register for at least one other week of the summer day camp program for a minimum of two days! 5 Tennis Camp SPECIALTY CAMP BEFORE AND AFTER CARE PROGRAM Run in conjunction with Coastal Quick Tennis Before and after care is offered with all of the above specialty camps. For boys and girls ages 6 10 July 6 th 9 th (M R) For boys and girls ages 6 10 Aug. 3 rd 6 th (M R) Before Care: 8:00 9:00 am Cost: $20 per child per week For boys and girls ages July 20 th 23 rd (M R) Parents must drop off children at the Hut by no later than 8:45 am. Children are then transported to Vernon Park Courts the camp location. Cost: $113 residents, $123 non res. After Care Option A: noon 3:00 pm Cost: $30 per child per week At 12:00 children are transported to our day camp program, where they will be supervised until 3:00. Volleyball Camp Children must bring a bag lunch and drink each day. For boys and girls entering grades 6 12 July 6 th 9 th After Care Option B: noon 5:30 pm Cost: $50 per child per week Held at The Hut 9:00 noon At 3:00 children are transported to The Hut, where they will be supervised until 5:30 pm. Cost: $50 residents, $60 non residents Theatre Camp Instructed by CiCi Dunn Theatre Camp will provide its participants with a fundamental appreciation for the performing arts. Through both traditional and non traditional theatre games, participants will develop leadership skills and confidence in public speaking. Participants will have hands on opportunities to learn the craft and skill that go into producing and performing in front of a live audience!
