4 REGULATIONS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SHOW 1. All entries must be made on the Form supplied by the Society or downloaded from and returned within the time stated, and must be accompanied by the correct entry fees. The Rules of the Society with respect to the Exhibit and Exhibitor must be accepted and complied with. 2. No stock will be admitted into the Show without authorisation from the Show Manager. VEHICLE PASSES MUST BE FIRMLY DISPLAYED IN WINDSCREENS. ADMISSION TICKETS MUST BE PRODUCED 3. Bakewell Show reserves the right to refuse entry from any Horse or Pony that is not registered with the appropriate society relating to the classes entered. ALL horse registration numbers MUST be entered on the entry form. 4. TICKET ALLOCATION Exhibitors will receive 1 vehicle pass only. Additional vehicle passes may be purchased on the entry form BUT only horseboxes will be allowed in the horsebox park. Accompanying cars will be re-directed to the public car park. Each exhibitor will receive the following passes: 1 horse 2 entry tickets plus 1 extra ticket per horse thereafter up to a limit of 10 tickets. Admission tickets for extra guests can be purchased at a discount at the time of entry. Any additional passengers without admission passes will be asked to pay the full admission fee on the day. Random vehicle checks will be carried out. 5. Exhibits must be on the Showground and prepared for judging by the hour stated in the list applicable to the Class. All livestock must be in the charge of a responsible person. No horse is to be ridden or led through the showground except on designated horse walks 6. HEADWEAR - IT IS A SHOWGROUND RULE THAT ANY PERSON RIDING A HORSE OR PONY SHOULD WEAR A SKULL CAP OR HAT AND SAFETY HARNESS ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT APPROVED BSI OR EUROPEAN STANDARD AT ALL TIMES. SKULL CAPS MUST HAVE A NAVY BLUE OR BLACK COVER. NB TRAINERS NOT ALLOWED. THE SOCIETY ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY ARISING FROM A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE 7. TIMETABLE Classes may commence at or after the published time. It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure they are on the showground in good time for their class(es) The Organisers will not accept any responsibility for exhibitors missing their class(es) and cannot be held responsible for entries forward. 8.Exhibitors must see that their Exhibits are correctly numbered, and the Society will not be responsible for any error in connection with the placing or numbering of an exhibit 9. Judges and stewards are empowered to order the withdrawal or to place at the bottom of the class any animal which in their opinion has or has had its conformation artificially altered. The decision of the Judges shall in all cases be final. 10. All objections to any Exhibit must be made in writing to the Show Manager and must be received by her not later than 4 pm on the day of the Show. All disputes shall be referred to the Society, whose decision shall be final. Any person lodging a protest against another exhibitor for breach of Rules and Regulations shall deposit the sum of 10, the deposit to be forfeited should the protest be not sustained. If the protest is sustained the deposit will be returned. 4

5 11.The Society will not be responsible for any damage to, or expense in connection with any Exhibit at the Annual Show from whatever cause arising and all Exhibits shall be at the sole risk and expense of Exhibitor. All exhibitors should ensure they have adequate public liability cover. 12 REFUND OF ENTRY FEES Entry fees will only be refunded in the event of a cancellation of classes. Applications for refund of entry fees due to animal illness must be received in writing to the Show Manager no later than 14 days after the first day of the show and must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate. The entry fee is not refundable if an animal is entered in a class for which it is not eligible or not registered or for entries that are withdrawn after entries have closed. BAKEWELL SHOW WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IN ANY WAY FOR THE REFUND OF ENTRY FEES PAID IN RESPECT OF THE HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFYING CLASSES 13 ANIMALS WITH SUSPECTED ILLNESS After consultation with the Show Manager and the Equine Section Chief Steward the Veterinary Surgeon on duty at that time may request the removal of any animal that in his /her opinion is unfit to compete. The cost of veterinary services will be the sole responsibility of the owner/exhibitor 14 The Bakewell Show shall have the power to remove from the Showground any stock or property belonging to any exhibitor who infringes any of the above rules and regulations or conditions of the show or refuse to comply with any instruction given by the stewards. PLEASE NOTE ALL HORSE OF THE YEAR ENTRIES MUST BE COMPLETED ON THE HORSE OF THE YEAR ENTRY FORM. ADDITIONAL ENTRY FORMS CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM or TROPHIES AND PRIZE MONEY CONDITIONS RELATING TO THE CHALLENGE AND CHAMPION CUPS FOR COMPETITION Acceptance of the custody of a Challenge Cup by the holder for the time being shall be deemed a sufficient guarantee that he hereby agrees and undertakes to return same, free of cost, to the Committee at least fourteen days prior to the next Annual Show. Trophies to be taken from the Trophy Tent after the appropriate classes where winners will be requested to sign a confirmation of collection form. All prizes will be paid or handed over within one calendar month after the date of the Show in the absence of any unforeseen circumstances preventing it. EQUINE INFLUENZA IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT ALL HORSES AND PONIES SHALL HAVE BEEN VACCINATED AGAINST EQUINE INFLUENZA BEFORE BEING BROUGHT TO THIS SHOW. EXHIBITORS ARE REMINDED THAT THE SOCIETY WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANIMALS WHICH CONTRACT THE DISEASE AS A RESULT OF EXHIBITION AT THIS SHOW. WALKWAY PASSES Each entrant will receive TUESDAY 2 Walkway Passes. EVENTS Any person not riding or leading a horse will need a pass to be 5 allowed access to the walkway or collecting rings. NO DOGS OR PUSHCHAIRS ALLOWED. Young children MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times

6 RIDDEN SHOW HUNTER CLASSES HORSE OF THE YEAR QUALIFIERS Judging in Classes 1 to 4 commences at 8.00 am prompt in THE CENTRE RING on TUESDAY Entries in Classes 1-4 to be on the Showground by 7.30 am Ride Judge : Mr B Smart, N Yorks Conformation Judge: Mrs J M Jefferson, N Yorks Entry Fees (each entry): (this entry fee includes a Horse of the Year Show contribution) Prizes: 1 st 35; 2 nd 25; 3 rd 15; 4 th 10 Rosettes to 10 th place OPEN CLASSES 1 Small Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 4 years old or over exceeding 148 cm but not exceeding 158 cm. A horse, which is registered as a Small Hunter, cannot compete in an Open Weight Class and vice versa 2 Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Lightweight Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Four years old and upwards capable of carrying up to 12 stone 7lbs. 3 Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Middleweight Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Four years old and upwards capable of carrying 12 stone 7lbs and not exceeding 14 stone. 4 Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Heavyweight Show Hunter, Mare or Gelding Horse of the Year Show Qualifier Four years old and upwards capable of carrying over 14 stone. Classes 1-4 are qualifying classes for this year s HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, NEC Birmingham 5th 9th October. All riders, owners & producers must be members of the British Show Horse Association (BSHA) Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers MUST be quoted on entry form. The first prize winners will qualify to compete at the final. If already qualified the second will qualify, if the first and second are already qualified then the third will go forward. No horse lower than 3 rd place will qualify. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. Horses competing at the Horse of the Year Show and qualifying shows in the Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of GB classes at their affiliated shows, cannot compete in Hack, Cob and Riding Horse classes at the same show on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse Classes. Competitors must enter their horses in the appropriate sections but Lightweight will be judged first and the judges shall have the power to transfer exhibits to Middle or Heavyweight if they deem it necessary. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from CH 1 CHAMPIONSHIP 1 st & 2 nd from each class to compete for overall Hunter Champion H 100 THE SOCIETY S PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY for the Champion Hunter. H 101 THE TURNER PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY for Lightweight Hunters kindly donated by Mr. & Mrs. R.H. Turner. H 102 THE ADLINGTON PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY for Middleweight Hunters kindly donated by John Adlington Ltd. 7 THIS SHOW IS A QUALIFIER FOR THE BLUE CHIP & IRISH DRAUGHT HORSE SOCIETY (GB) 2,000 CHALLENGE Classes 1-4 are Qualifiers for the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) 2,000 Challenge The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each class will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip and IDHS (GB) 2000 Challenge which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed Show on 3 rd & 4 th September at the Lincolnshire Showground,Grange-de-Lings Lincoln LN2 2NA. N.B A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive a card and a 10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete an online form at to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have qualified for the final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded 1000 prize money, a trophy and a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded 500 and 3 rd to 7 th inclusive will be awarded 100 each. In addition, the highest placed Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a trophy and 100 and the highest placed 158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and 50 and the highest placed *Amateur Produced and Ridden Horse will receive a silver salver and a rug. 8 ROYAL INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW(RIHS) QUALIFYING CLASSES To be judged in Centre Ring after Ridden Show Hunters on Tuesday Under Sport Horse Breeding (GB) Rules Judge: Ladies Hunter Miss M Traves, Yorkshire Amateur Hunters Conformation - Miss M Traves, Yorkshire Ride - Miss S Leatherbarrow, Lancashire Classes 5-7 Entry Fee (each entry) (this entry fee includes a 9.00 RIHS contribution) Prizes: Classes 5-7 1st 35; 2nd 25; 3rd 15; 4th 10 5 Ladies Hunter Mare or Gelding four years old or over to be ridden side-saddle by a lady 6 Amateur Hunter Lightweight 7 Amateur Hunter Heavyweight Classes 5, 6 & 7 are qualifying events for 2017 RIHS and only horses registered on the Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry forms and owners and riders must be members of the society. The two highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the RIHS. Day Ticket = 30 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year- it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show) In the Lightweight section the two highest placed smalls and the two highest placed lightweights will qualify and in the heavyweight section the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest heavyweights will qualify Horses competing at the RIHS and qualifying shows in Hunter sections of The Sport Horse Breeding of GB cannot compete in Hack, Cob & Riding horse classes at the same show on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB(GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. RIDDEN HEAVY HORSE Judging follows Amateur Hunters in Centre Ring on Tuesday Not before 1.30pm Judge: Mr A Bull, Cheshire Entry Fee (each entry) Prizes: - 1 st 20; 2 nd 15; 3 rd 10; 4 th 5 Rosettes to all competitors 8 Ridden Heavy Horse Horses must be pure recognised heavy breed. Riders must be 16 years and over. H105 Team 777 Perpetual Trophy for Best Ridden Heavy Horse 8

9 WORKING HUNTER CLASSES Judging in Class 9 commences after Ridden Heavy Horse in The Centre Ring on Tuesday Ride Judge: Miss K Barley, York Conformation Judge: Mr J Gulliver, Lancashire Classes 9 &10 Entry Fee (each entry) Class 11 Entry Fee (each entry) (This entry fee includes a Horse of the Year Show contribution) Prizes: Classes 9 & 10-1st 20; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5 Prizes: Class 11-1st 35; 2nd 25; 3rd 15; 4th 10 Rosettes to 10th place - OPEN CLASSES THE B.S.P.S RUTH LEARS CHALLENGE CLASS FOR NOVICE WORKING HUNTERS 9 Novice Working Hunter (To be run under SHB(GB) 2016 Rules) Mare, Gelding or Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white & blue ribbon displayed in their tail) 4 years old and over,exceeding 148cms. Riders any age. The first three to qualify for the 2016 B.S.P.S Summer Championships Show. Horses need to be on the SHB(GB) basic id register. Owners & Riders need to be current SHB(GB) members. Day Ticket = 30 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year- it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show) It is strongly recommended that competitors aged 18 or over wear correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet one of the following current Safety Standards All PAS 015; VG1; ASTM F a onwards, SNELL E2001; AS/NZS onwards. The EN1384, BSEN1384 may also be worn until January 2017 when the rules will be reviewed.it is mandatory for competitors under the age of 18 to wear such skull caps or hats. In the jumping phase of working hunter classes the aforementioned skull caps/riding hats must be worn. Definition of a Novice Working Hunter Regardless of the number of Novice or Open WH classes a FOUR or FIVE year old horse may win, it retains its novice status at the commencement of its SIX year old year. A novice WH six years old or over that wins three Open or Restricted Open Working Hunter classes where the first prize is 5 or over, will immediately be classed as an OPEN WH for the rest of its showing career and is no longer eligible for Novice WH classes except that any qualification held for Novice WH classes at the 2016 BSPS Summer Championships remain valid.riders can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but must select only one horse for the ride/way of going and conformation section if so required. (No change of rider allowed) Four years and over not to have won a total of 100 excluding championship prize money (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB (GB) affiliated working hunter class, or more than 5BE points or 200 B.S points at home or equivalent abroad before 1 st Jan in the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height of 0.85m (2 9 ) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3 3 )Working Hunters may compete Hors Concours in Novice Working Hunter classes in the Jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other Working Hunter class for the duration of that show. 9

10 10 Restricted Open Working Hunter - Mare, Gelding or Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) Four years old and over not to have won a total of 400, excluding championship prize money, (or equivalent values) in prize money in any Working Hunter class, or more than 25 BE points or 400 B.S.points at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Maximum height of fences 3 6 (1.07m). Working Hunters may compete Hors Concours in Restricted Open Working Hunter classes in the jumping phase only at the discretion of the show secretary but the horse cannot compete in any other Working Hunter classes for the duration of that show. There must be a change of course between Novice, Restricted Open & Open Working Hunter Classes. HORSE OF THE YEAR QUALIFIER Ride Judge: Miss K Barley, York Conformation Judge: Mr J Gulliver, Lancashire Class 11 Entry Fee (each entry) (This entry fee includes a Horse of the Year Show contribution) Prizes: Class 10-1st 35; 2nd 25; 3rd 15; 4th Cuddy Working Hunter of the Year -'Horse of the Year Show Qualifier' Mare, Gelding or Stallion (competing stallions must have a red, white & blue ribbon displayed in their tail) Four years old and over exceeding 148cm, to be ridden. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event horses as at 1 st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter classes. All riders, owners, producers & Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association. Fences will not exceed 1.14m (3ft 9 ins) in height, there should be a minimum of 8 fences and a maximum of 12 fences. The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). Marks must be awarded in the following way: PHASE 1 (60 Marks) A: JUMPING POINTS 40 MARKS B; STYLE WHILE JUMPING 20 MARKS PHASE II (40 Marks) C: CONFORMATION 20 MARKS D: RIDE 20MARKS In the event of equality the CONFORMATION MARK from Phase II will take precedence, followed by the RIDE MARK and then the STYLE MARK Class 11 is qualifying class for this year s HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW, NEC Birmingham 5 th 9th October Horses must be registered with the British Show Horse Association and all owners, exhibitors and riders must be BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers MUST be quoted on entry form. 10

H 104 THE DANNY BOY TROPHY for the Best Working Hunter Classes 9, 10 & 11 are Qualifiers for the Blue Chip & IDHS (GB) 2,000 Challenge (see page 14 for details) This class is also a qualifier for the CHAPS (UK) Championship Show. Exhibits may qualify from non-coloured classes upon production of their qualifier card which must be signed by the judge in the ring 11

12 DRESSAGE COMPETITION Judging Commences in Ring One at 8.00 am prompt on Tuesday Judge: Ms Wendy Woods, Derbyshire Entry Fee (each entry) Prizes: 1 st - 20, 2 nd 15 3 rd 10 Rosettes to all competitors 12 BD Intro A BD Prelim BD Novice Times will be available on from Sunday 31 st July 2016 Competition to be run under British Dressage Rules 2016 All horses and ponies must be 4 years old or over Tests may be commanded The decision of the judge is final and any objection must be made to the organisers within 15 minutes of the results with a deposit of 20, refundable if upheld The organisers reserve the right to disqualify anyone for the misuse of whip or spurs, dangerous riding or any horse in poor or lame condition BLUE CHIP 4, 5 6 YRO & OVER FLAT RIDDEN SPORT HORSE CLASS To be judged in Ring 1 on Tuesday after Dressage Competition - not before Judge: Mr P Crafts, Nottinghamshire Entry Fee (each entry) Prizes: Blue Chip Vouchers as follows: 1 st 30, 2 nd to 6 th place Voucher to the Highest Placed Four Year Old Bakewell Rosettes to 10 th place 15 Blue Chip 4, 5 & 6 year old & over Flat Ridden Sport Horse This class is a qualifier for the Blue Chip Flat Ridden Sport Horse Championship to be held at the Alexander s Horse Box Supreme Hunter Show to be held at Scope Festival Staffordshire on 20/21 st August Horses to be shown on the flat, will not be required to jump. Snaffle bridles must be worn. NB Horses have to be registered with SHB (GB) Owners & Riders have to be SHB(GB) Members. Horses will not be ridden by the judge but will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot and canter of approx.. 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown. All Horses are required for a conformation assessment to be awarded marks out of a possible 50. This Show is a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Security UK Ltd Challenge. The highest placed pony in the Lead Rein, First Ridden, Lead Rein of Hunter Type, Open Show Pony,Open Show Hunter Pony, Cradle & Nursery Stakes, Open Working Hunter Pony, the Open Intermediate SRT, SH & WH and the Heritage Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden & WHP classes, that has not qualified for the 2016 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class, will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already qualified for the BSPS Challenge, the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Black Country Saddles Best Rider. The Best Rider in the Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Open Lead Rein Hunter Type, 128cms, 138cms and 148cms Show Pony, the 122cms, 133cms, 143cms and 153cms SHP, the Cradle and Nursery Stakes, the 133cms, 143cms and 153cms WHP, the Intermediate Show Riding Type, Show Hunter, Working Hunter Classes and Open Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden and to the Best Rider 25 years and under in the Heritage Ridden and WHP classes will receive a card and qualify for the final at the BSPS Summer Championships Show. Owners and Riders must be BSPS members before the date of the show to qualify in classes with qualification for Blue Riband and animals must be registered with the BSPS.
