1 CAPE TOWN STADIUM EVENT TRANSPORT COMMUNICATION PLAN EVENT: Manchester United vs Ajax Cape Town DATE: 21 July 2012 (Saturday) GATES OPEN: 12:00 KICK-OFF: 15:00 Ticket holders are urged to use public transport and arrive early. 1. PUBLIC TRANSPORT N.B.: As no parking will be available to the public at or near the stadium, ticket holders are encouraged to use public transport or, if using private transport, park at the park-and-rides served by the free event bus shuttle services. Normal tariffs will apply on all public transport services, including trains and buses (GABS and MyCiTi). 1.1 RAIL No special/additional trains will be provided for this event and passengers will be required to pay the applicable fare. Train services to and from Cape Town will run as normal. An arrangement has been made for passengers wanting to return to the Strand after the event. 2 1.3 MYCITI SERVICE: CIVIC CENTRE TO TABLE VIEW, WATERFRONT AND GARDENS The MyCiTi service between Civic Centre and Table View bus stations will operate in accordance with their standard hours of operation. Passengers will be required to use the myconnect card (with sufficient value) to travel to the Civic Centre bus station. Cards can be purchased at any open Revenue Kiosk at MyCiTi stations or call the 24/7 Transport Information Centre on where you can get information on other vendors selling the myconnect card. 1.4 PARK-AND-RIDES SERVED BY RAIL Normal train fares will apply on all train services. IMPACT OF ROAD CLOSURES ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES Public transport services operating in the Green Point and CBD areas may be subject to localised deviations from 12:00 on 21 July The affected scheduled services are listed below: 3.1 GOLDEN ARROW BUS SERVICES TRAVELLING THROUGH THE GREEN POINT AREA All services along Somerset/Main Road Green Point between Buitengragt and York Road will run along Helen Suzman Boulevard after 12:00. Passengers using this service may board or disembark at the stops either side of the closures at Buitengragt or York Road. 3.2 GOLDEN ARROW BUS SERVICES ENTERING THE CBD The Waterfront service will operate via the CTICC, turning right into Heerengracht, stopping opposite Standard Bank, proceeding around the circle, back down Heerengracht and on to the Waterfront. The Waterfront/Sea Point service will continue to operate on its normal routes but may be subject to delays. 3.3 MYCITI BUS SERVICE EFFECTIVE FROM 12:00 The normal Civic Centre/Waterfront MyCiTi bus service will not be free of charge. The Civic Centre/Waterfront MyCiTi service will stop at the Stadium bus station en route to the Waterfront and then will be rerouted turning left into Portswood Road from Helen Suzman Boulevard, left into Beach Road and right at the traffic circle into Granger Bay Boulevard. 3

4 Granger Bay bus station will be closed for this period while all other stops and services on the Gardens-Civic- Waterfront route will remain operational. Passengers may use the Waterfront (in Breakwater Lane), Stadium bus station and/or Buitengragt stops as alternatives to the Granger Bay bus station. On the return journey from the Waterfront, the bus will turn left into Beach Road, right into Portswood Road and left at Helen Suzman Boulevard to continue its normal route to the CBD. 4. PARKING Parking restrictions will be enforced in the residential areas adjacent to Cape Town Stadium from 00:00 to 24:00 (midnight) on 21 July 2012, including on Main Road. Motorists are advised to obey the signage. Normal restrictions and charges apply to kerbside parking in the CBD for a Saturday. 4.1 PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Dedicated parking has been allocated on DF Malan Drive for those attendees with disabilities who wish to use the Stadium shuttle. Only people with an official disability permit from the City will be allowed to park in this dedicated parking area. Ticket holders will have to formally request access to the limited disabled parking bays at the stadium (P5) via Mike via at mikefranck@mweb.co.za. Note that users will have to provide evidence that they are entitled to these parking bays and clearly display the Vehicle Access Permit (VAP) in full colour on their dashboard when entering Vlei Rd. Failure to display will result in access being denied. Disabled Parking access is issued at the discretion of the event organiser and is subject to availability. 4.2 DROP-AND-GO Attendees may be dropped off and collected at the following appropriately signed locations; in DF Malan Drive opposite the Artscape Theatre and taking the free event shuttle to the Stadium or, in the embayment off Helen Suzman Blvd (City bound carriageway), between Vlei Road and the elevated traffic circle at Granger Bay Boulevard. 4.3 ON-STREET IN THE CBD On-street parking is available within the CBD but no additional security will be provided. Parking tariffs will apply until 13:00 when it becomes free of charge. 4.4 V&A WATERFRONT The V&A Waterfront has approximately 3,500 parking bays available to the general public. There is a charge associated with this parking and traffic flows in and out of the V&A Waterfront may be congested. 4

PEDESTRIAN ROUTES The Fan Walk provides the opportunity for attendees to move from the Civic Centre bus and Cape Town rail stations to the stadium at Green Point along a dedicated pedestrian route. After 12:00 roads down the fan walk will be closed to vehicular traffic as pedestrian volumes increase. A two-way traffic flow system will be provided for local vehicle access on the mountain side (Sea Point bound) carriageway on Somerset /Main Road in Green Point between York and Chiappini Streets. Pedestrian access between the Waterfront and Stadium will be via Granger Bay Boulevard and, between the City and Stadium, via the Fan Walk and underpass at the Green Point Circle. 6. CYCLING Attendees wishing to cycle to the stadium are encouraged to do so. Bicycle racks are located on the eastern (Waterfront) side of the elevated circle at the stadium. Cyclists must provide their own lock and chain as bicycles are left at own risk. Please remember the ridesafe motto and wear a helmet, have adequate lighting and wear reflective clothing. (NB: helmets are not allowed inside the stadium.) Due to the number of people using the Fan Walk, it is advised that cyclists coming from the CBD use the route through the V&A Waterfront or the back roads in De Waterkant to access the stadium. 7. TICKET COLLECTION Attendees are encouraged to collect their tickets from Computicket outlets before the day of the event as no tickets will be issued at the Stadium. 5
