Gamesa FlexiFit facilitates the assembly and disassembly of major technology. 5 Offshore technology solutions > Validation plan Offshore technology solutions > Maintenance Validation of the Gamesa Offshore technologies has enabled to achieve the reliability levels found in machines that have operated for several years. Validation plan Maintenance Validation of the Gamesa Offshore technologies leverages 8 an exhaustive program of testing and validation already 9 done on Gamesa s proven 5.0 MW platform. Gamesa s validation program included: More than 600 tests on the turbine components at 100 accredited laboratories in the United States, Japan and Europe. More than 190 functional and/or integration tests at the most qualified international technology centers that specialize in applied research and development of renewable energy technologies. More than 300,000 hours of validation and testing to ensure that the G MW Offshore and G MW Offshore perform consistently and reliably from day one. This extensive validation program used controlled environments to test every system and component in order to simulate real, full-scale operating conditions, in addition to field-testing, with the first onshore prototype from the Gamesa 5.0 MW platform operating successfully since May Final field testing to allow validation of marine-specific developments is being undertaken on the G MW Offshore prototype, commissioned in Summer One of the key objectives in the design of the Gamesa Offshore wind turbines have been to minimize downtime and simplify maintenance tasks that can be particularly complex and costly in offshore environments. Several of Gamesa s technological innovations support this goal: The Gamesa SMP-12. This was developed by performing an extensive analysis of the wind turbine fleet and by determining what essential attributes were needed as part of a quality predictive maintenance system. The SMP-12 can provide early detection of potential wear or faults in the principal components of wind turbines. This system reduces the need for major corrective measures, increases the machine s availability and working life and integrates with Gamesa s other control systems. Gamesa WindNet, our newest generation SCADA system, features modular architecture that allows remote, realtime operation and monitoring of wind turbines. RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance): Optimized maintenance processes combined with continuous improvements reduce the time devoted to preventive maintenance. The modular design makes corrective maintenance work on large turbine components easier to perform. Gamesa FlexiFit : the transportable add-on crane that attaches directly to the nacelle facilitates the replacement of parts in the field reducing the need for expensive vessels and high-tonnage cranes.
