2 Nominate someone outstanding The search is on to fi nd this year s IET Achievement medallists! Has someone you know made an outstanding contribution in their respective field of work? Help us recognise the talents of young professionals through to individuals who are at the pinnacle of their careers. We are looking for people who have made an exceptional contribution in the various sectors of science, engineering and technology and whose work has had an impact on the profession. This could be through research and development, leadership of an enterprise, lifetime achievement or voluntary work. The Faraday Medal is the most prestigious award offered by the IET. Medals are also awarded for achievements in each of the different sectors of engineering covered by the IET. The Medals are awarded by the IET Awards and Prizes Committee and will be presented at the prestigious Institution of Engineering and Technology Achievement Awards Ceremony, which will take place on 16 November Save the date! 3 Faraday Medal Mountbatten Medal Awarded either for notable scientific or industrial achievement in engineering or for conspicuous service rendered to the advancement of science, engineering and technology or for lifetime achievement in science, engineering or technology. Awarded to an individual for an outstanding contribution, or contributions over a period, to the promotion of electronics or information technology and in the dissemination of the understanding of electronics and information technology to young people or adults. Thomson Medal for Electronics Awarded to candidates who have made major and distinguished contributions in the manufacturing sector, whether to the advancement of manufacturing engineering technology or manufacturing management. 6 IET Medal for Volunteering Paul Fletcher Medal for Young Professionals Awarded to an individual for major and outstanding contributions voluntarily given to furthering the aims of the IET. Nominations are invited for both members and non-members of the IET who should be over the age of 35. Awarded to an IET volunteer for outstanding achievement in contributing to the activities of the IET. Nominations are welcomed for IET volunteers from around the world who are aged up to 35 years old. Only IET members are allowed to be nominated. Non-members may nominate. 7 Sir Henry Royce Medal for Young Professionals Mike Sargeant Career Achievement Medal for Young Professionals Awarded to an outstanding young professional who has excelled in the workplace within the last three years. The nominee may have shown exceptional leadership in developing a project, outstanding individual effort as part of a team or have demonstrated technological excellence when undertaking an engineering project. Awarded to a young professional who is judged to have made the most signifi cant achievement in their career for three years or more. The nominee may have shown exceptional leadership in developing a project, have contributed creatively when developing a new product or service, or demonstrated commitment to engineering and/or technology through their academic or professional development.
