This workshop is designed for scientists and professionals from the oil and gas industry and service companies, involved in history matching, production optimisation and enhanced oil recovery. The workshop is aimed at people working in the following categories: reservoir engineers, production engineers, geologist, geophysicists, research & development geoscientists/engineers and asset managers, engaged in activities related to reservoir model updating, production optimisation and closed loop reservoir management. The expected ultimate oil recovery is more than 60%; probably the highest recovery of all subsea oil reservoirs, worldwide. The Norne license has agreed to release large amounts of subsurface data from the field for researchers world-wide to test and compare models and algorithms on a common set of real-field data and has received positive response both in industry and academia. Furthermore, it provides a starting point for a new open approach to field development within the industry. Based on this dataset and other field experiences, this Applied Technology Workshop will provide excellent networking opportunities for sharing the latest technologies and its application in history matching and production optimisation, the interplay between production history and 4D seismic, reduced order modelling and closed loop reservoir management. Workshop Aims & objectives This comprehensive and focused 2 day workshop will provide scientists and professionals from the oil and gas industry and service companies with an opportunity to share best practices in closed-loop reservoir management using real production and seismic data from the Norne field. The comparative case study will be organized in the form of an interactive competition and the results will be compared and discussed in the workshop, as well as other field experiences. Further, the workshop will provide a comprehensive survey of state of the art methodologies in closed-loop reservoir management, applied to the oil and gas industry with examples of how 4D should be implemented and integrated in reservoir modelling, to tailor - make field-specific increased oil recovery (IOR) solutions. We believe the workshop will be a diverse and innovative environment for focused discussions.

3 orne (Norway) Rica Nidelven Hotel Trondheim, Norway Preliminary Technical Agenda Wednesday, 15 June 2011 Keynote Speaker Session Session Managers: Lars Høier and Jon Kleppe The purpose of reservoir management is to control operations to maximize both short and long term production. This consists of life-cycle optimisation based on reservoir model uncertainties together with model updating by production measurements, time-lapse seismic and other available data. Time-lapse seismic data helps to determine reservoir changes that occur with time and can be used as a new dimension in history matching since it contains information about fluid movement and pressure changes between and beyond the wells. How can we process and use the huge amount of information in an efficient way and ensure that the reservoir models are kept up to date and consistent with the data? History matching methods are being developed through both field-specific studies and methodological research. This session addresses the state of the art technologies within the area of optimisation, focusing both on production history and 4D seismic and the interplay between these two diverse types of data. Session i: The Norne Field and Benchmark Case Session Managers: Jan Inge Skagen and Fridtjof Nyhavn In this session a presentation of the Norne field in Norway will be given, as well as a description of the Norne benchmark case. The field presentation includes key field data, drainage strategy and specific Norne field experiences. Being in production since 1997, more than 50 wells have been drilled at Norne and a series of 4D surveys have been performed. This high-quality seismic data has been imperative for history matching and revised plans for injection/production, including extensive infill drilling. A detailed description of the establishment of a number of international benchmark cases based on real Norne data for the discussions of reservoir characterization, history matching and/or production optimisation methodologies is given. The first introductory package of Norne comprises the so-called E-Segment. This package contains reservoir simulation models, production data, measured fluid PVT, detailed geological descriptions, petrophysical data, well logs, well completion solutions, and detailed 4D geophysical data (processed and unprocessed), released for international research and education. Session ii: Norne Comparative Case Study Session Managers: Richard Rwechungura, Mohsen Dadashpour and Nan Cheng This session will address a test case (Norne E-Segment) to evaluate and compare mathematical methods for history matching as well as methods on optimal production strategy and/or enhanced oil recovery. It is an opportunity to discuss emerging and classical history matching and optimisation methods after being tested using real field data. The participants of this comparative case study will come up with a history matched model (preferably using an integration of production and time-lapse seismic data) and with an optimal production strategy for the remaining recoverable resources for the future period. Participants may suggest techniques to enhance recovery. This is a real case study and no one exactly knows the true answer but participants and delegates are encouraged to discuss the methods, results and challenges during the course of the workshop. Specific attention will be given to the way 4D seismic data is incorporated. The presentations will form the basis for an open discussion on how different companies apply historymatching and optimisation techniques to enhance the value of their assets.

4 y Register by 9 May 2011 gy ory g udy ng l ir se Session iv: Closed Loop Reservoir Management Session Managers: Bjarne Foss and Trond Mannseth This session will contain two talks and a panel discussion. The first talk will present the current status and some key challenges in assisted history matching based on ensemble Kalman filter techniques. Further, it will reflect on the importance of open data sets for benchmarking and for providing focus in development of methodology. The second talk will present a completely new business model for the industry - open innovation. This implies that company challenges, like certain aspects of field development, are posed as a competition on the Internet. Thereby one can potentially engage a large number of people in problem solving. This approach has been successfully applied in other industries. The latter half of the session will be devoted to a panel discussion in which a selected panel will discuss closed loop reservoir management, including the role of 4D seismic and open data sets as a means to improve technologies. There will be an evening welcome reception on Tuesday 14 June and a workshop dinner on Wednesday 15 June. Full details will be provided with your registration pack in May.
