3 RESORT CLAVIERE (Milky Way Via Lattea) Resort Facts Forming part of the extensive Milky Way ski area, Claviere has plenty to keep us busy with sun trap nursery slopes to plenty of skiing above 2000 metres. Known for its great snow coverage and short lift queuing times. This truly hospitable and friendly skiing village nestled between Turin and the French border is perfect for school ski courses. The Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre spent a very enjoyable week there in Claviere offers a series of snow sure slopes before you even approach the rest of the 400kms of skiable terrain the Milky Way ski area delivers. The standard lift pass is the 6 day Monti della Luna lift pass. This pass covers approximately 90kms of skiing in Cesana and Claviere, as well as 1 day in Montgenevre (France) and 1 day access to the entire Italian section of the Milky Way ski area. As such, we will have access to numerous options available to enjoy a greater choice of ski runs. The nursery slopes on the outskirts of the village promise sunshine and forgiving descents and once the new skiers grow in confidence they ll find an innumerate amount of interlinking wide blues and testing reds providing the perfect pistes for progression. From high, open runs to lower, wooded trails, there are a variety of runs to satisfy the most seasoned of skiers and snowboarders. Hotel Savoia, Claviere A great setting, just 100 metres from the Claviere ski lifts, ensures the Hotel Savoia is always popular with school groups. 28 en suite bedrooms provide clean and comfortable sleeping arrangements for approximately 100 guests so we should have sole occupancy of this hotel. The hotel's facilities include two restaurants and two lounge areas where you can relax in front of the TV or open log fire. The Hotel Savoia provides a convenient and homely base, where you can both relax and explore the surrounding area with numerous après ski activities easily accessible by coach. The French border is within walking distance allowing school groups to enjoy bowling in Chantemerle and swimming in Briançon. There are also plenty of options closer to the Hotel Savoia with ice skating, disco and pizza evenings all available in Claviere. 4 Read Carefully About the Course Skiing is a demanding winter sport. If you come on this trip you will be skiing for 5 hours a day. Only sign up for this trip if you are fit, healthy and enjoy outdoor activities. If you sign up for this trip, are accepted onto it, and later have to withdraw, we will only be able to refund any payments if a suitable replacement is found. Equity is a very reputable company (ATOL/ABTA/IATA). We have travelled many times with this company before, most recently to Serre Chevallier last year. The staff accompanying the trip are very experienced in taking school groups abroad (and bringing them back). We hope to have eight groups and with a range of abilities, thus ensuring appropriate challenge for each student. There is a range of superb evening activities on offer during the week including quizzes, sledging, karaoke and all manner of challenges.
