Miss De La Salle will be keeping her current name for professional reasons after her marriage. We are delighted that Mrs Allison Bastable is transferring to the role of LSP for Foxes class in April as well as covering some of the chillout clubs for the Summer term. We welcome to the staff Mrs Nicola Sanders as an LSP. We are delighted to welcome back Miss Aylward to school after completing an outstanding second placement over in Hatfield, She has been appointed as a permanent teacher in school from September

2 School Information Consultation Evening for parents Thank you all for attending the consultation evening or another appointement to discover how your child is achieving in school. We hope you found this useful and well supported by the school reports you have now received. The teachers are highly appreciative of the support you have given your child throughout the term which has led to everyone making outstanding progress. Reception Parents Lunch Date We had three exciting lunch days for Reception parents which was enjoyed by everyone. It was good to see so many rushing around to MUGA (multi user games area) whilst at play. Last year we had temporary arrangements for lunch so are going to offer a lunch date for all year one parents so that you can also experience the new dining facilities and the playtime arrangements in our school now it is busier. Lunch for Deer class will be on Tuesday 21 June to 1.00 pm. Lunch for Foxes class will be on Thursday 23 June to 1.00 pm. You will receive an for the parent booking numbers two weeks before. Year 1 School Trip - Science Museum On Thursday 21st April Year 1 are going on a trip to the Science Museum in London as part of their Earth and Beyond Topic. The children will return at the normal time. Polite Reminder: Please can you remember to remove all earrings and tie your child's hair back on P.E Days. All children must have full PE kit in school every day. 2

6 School Information ATTENDANCE We are having to monitor more closely our attendance because this term we have had an increase in numbers of children reaching the absence figures of over 5%. We are aware of the recent virus outbreaks as well as Chickpox but these alone do not drop the figures to that level. Please can we remind you all of the importance of attending school to the education and social development of your child. Attendance figures for Spring term 2016 are as follows: Badgers Class (Year R) 95.4% Hedgehogs Class (Year R) 92% Rabbits Class (Year R) 94% Deer Class (Year 1) 97.8% Foxes Class (Year 1) 96.4% Overall attendance for Spring term % Number of children in Reception year with 100% attendance is: 15 Number of children in Year one with 100% attendance is: 13 Number of children with below 95% attendance overall is: 30 in Year R & 11 in Year 1 100% attendance up to 11 March as per the reports. 7 School Information Rabbits Class Assembly: The first ever Rabbits class assembly held on the 24th March 2016, allowed the children to share their thematic learning on the topic of road safety. All the children had a starring role and some participated in a fun demonstration of how to cross the road safely, (with the kind assistance of Christopher Hanshaw who was dressed up as the lolly pop man). During the assembly some children evidenced their great learning by way of showing their books where a cut and stick sequencing activity had taken place. The Rabbits class assembly culminated in a superb rendition of the song King of the Road. Both, Mrs Albery and Miss Singfield were so very proud of the children, they all spoke clearly and confidently. Well done Rabbits class. 7

8 School Information Out of school achievements Well done Sean for achieving his Red belt in Karate! Well done Noah for his award for Gymnast of the week! Clothing Collection: Thank you to everyone who donated clothes for the Friends of JCFS. We are pleased to advise that 250kg were weighed which resulted in ! This will be put towards the equipment for the Year 2 playground. 8

9 School Information Sports Relief 2016 Thank you to everyone who donated a 1 for non uniform sports wear day. We are pleased to advise we raised 94! In the afternoon our Year 1 students also took part in a mile run around the MUGA and Year 2 playground area. 9

10 School Information Happy Egg Bus On 23rd March we had the Happy Egg Bus to school to talk to our children about the lifecycle of chickens. The children spent time in groups both upstairs and downstairs of the bus. They watched a film on how eggs are produced, watched whisking of eggs and understanding yolks. They got to see a skeleton of a chicken which they commented look much like a dinosaur and went on to match the egg activity where they had to match different types of egg to the correct animal. 10

For producing some wonderful homework on our new theme keeping ourselves and others safe & healthy. For writing a brilliant dictated sentence. Hania Hedgehogs - Reception For trying really hard to use his hands when writing a dictated sentence. Jeremiah Principal s Awards Thursday 31st March 2016 (These are recommended by the classroom staff for a variety of reasons that are above and beyond general expectations) Foxes Year 1 Almos Deer - Year 1 Aniela Rabbits- Reception - Rebecca Badgers - Reception - For working really hard to find long I and a words in books. Almos tried hard independently and along side his mum. For working independently finding long a words in a book. Aniela showed a lot of persistence by creating a very long list of words. Rebecca tries really hard to use her time during child initiated activities to improve her learning, eg: practising high frequency/tricky words. For wonderful listening in a new classroom environment. Riley Hedgehogs - Reception For trying hard to use her sounds when playing high frequency word bingo. Daisy-May 11

12 Kindness & Respect Awards Kindness and Respect Awards Thursday 16th March These are awarded for displaying the Virtue of the week (Reliability) or displaying exceptional kindness and respect to others. Foxes - Year 1 Tulah Tulah can always be relied upon to try her very best in her learning. Deer - Year 1 Ignacy Rabbits- Reception Freya Badgers - Reception - Ronnie Ignacy has shown that he can be trusted to complete his task independently. Freya can always be relied upon for both her kindness to others and producing some wonderful work in the classroom. Well done! For being a reliable class member and being helpful to his adults. Hedgehogs - Reception Ryan For always being a reliable member of hedgehogs class. Foxes -Year 1 Evie For showing care and compassion when working in a group. Evie will ask her friends if she can get them things or offer to help in other ways. Deer - Year 1 Scarlett For supporting her friends showing care and compassion. Scarlett showed a lot of compassion when Louie felt down. Rabbits- Reception - Charlie W For always showing care and compassion to his friends and especially when handling the chicks with Mrs Holmes. Badgers - Reception - Anouska Showing care and compassion to a friend by helping them put on and do up their apron. Hedgehogs Reception Marcus For showing the virtue of caring and compassion to his friends when helping them re-build their models during choosing. 12

Badgers - Reception - For showing his reliability when in a new classroom. Charlie Hedgehogs Reception Lily For being able to show the virtue of reliability during her learning. 13
