2 ABC s Let s get ready to read. -Introduction to letter sounds. Learner Targets K - (XI) Recognize consonant sounds to letters by producing the appropriate letter sound orally when shown a letter, identifying the appropriate consonant when hearing the sound. - (XVIII) Demonstrate that there are distinct sounds and that they can be isolated and manipulated. 1 st -(VIII) Distinguish between vowels and consonants. -(IX) Write the appropriate letters when hearing the sound in the word. -(XX) Isolate and manipulate sounds in words.

3 Learner Targets Games and Movies/Mini-lessons K Games Books Movies and Mini-lessons -(VII) Demonstrate that letters combine to make words. -(XI) Relate consonant sounds to letters. -(XII) Demonstrate that the order of letters in a word represents the order of sounds in a word. -(XVIII) Demonstrate that there are distinct sounds and that they can be isolated and manipulated. -(XX) Read some words on their own including a small number of simple high frequency words. 1 st -(VII) The learner will demonstrate knowledge of the concepts of print by using beginning sounds and final letters. -(VIII) Distinguish between vowels and consonants. -(IX) Write the appropriate letters when hearing the sound in the word. -(X) Make 1 st Grade words using the concept of onset and rime. -(XI) Identify consonant digraphs, beginning and ending blends. -(XX) Isolate and manipulate sounds in a word. -(XXV) Read and write/spell correctly first grade level sight words. 2 nd -(VIII) Make second grade words using the concept of onset and rime. -(X) Identify and use vowel digraphs, vowel diphongs, and r -controlled letter sounds to read second grade words. -(XVII) Identify orally beginning, middle, and final sounds in words. -(XXI) Read and write/spell correctly second grade level sight words.
