If you are from out of town, this is a trek to not miss, cameras are mandatory!!! TREK #2 CRANBERRY LAKE REGION Max Group Size: 10 Intermediate Trek from miles This trek is split into two components: hiking the remote trails of the Cranberry Lake s wild forest and paddling through the water of Cranberry Lake itself. One of the largest lakes in the Adirondacks, Cranberry Lake offers several deep bays and miles of forested shoreline ripe for exploring. Take a side hiking trip to Cat Mountain, High Falls or one of several other trails. Adjusted to the individual trek group, the hiking trails may cover as few as 6 miles or as many as 25. Campsites are abundant at such places as Joe Indian Island and Janacks Landing. Sabattis Scout Reservation is the Gateway to your Adirondack Adventure TREK #3 LONG LAKE TO TUPPER LAKE Max Group Size: 12 Intermediate Trek You launch your canoes at Long Lake, from there you paddle the picturesque Long Lake making camp at places like Plumbley s Landing. With a couple short portages to test your resolve your group will pass through the backwaters of the Raquette River, stopping at the landings of Axton and Trombley. Finally you will make your way and conquer Tupper Lake. Swimming and camping fun is abundant along the way. This trip is ideal for eager canoeists and is a classic trip on any paddlers map. TREK #4 BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE TO LONG LAKE Max Group Size: 12 Intermediate Trek This trek is another canoeist paradise. Starting at Blue Facts: Sabattis Scout Reservation is the Gateway to your Adirondack Experience - 6 million acres of wilderness high peaks - 2,500 lakes and ponds - - 1,500 miles of rivers ,000 miles of brooks and streams - Memories that last a life time all that s missing is YOU! Mountain Lake you will paddle through connecting waterways to the fabled Raquette Lake and end up on Long Lake. A couple short portages are present to keep you honest. Breath taking views are abundant, making memories that will last you a lifetime. A new campsite each night, will find you in places such as Buttermilk Falls and Moose Bay.

5 TREK #5 CRANBERRY 50 Max Group Size: 10 Intermediate Trek This introductory hike covers a 50 mile trail through the largest stand of old growth forest in the Adirondack Mountains. The trail is mostly flat, but affords such scenes as High Falls, Cranberry Lake, and Chair Rock Flow. The Cranberry Lake 50 offers much to new hikers and those seeking to study the environment alike with peaceful old growth forest, swamp terrain, and back country ponds accessible only to hikers. It is a truly rewarding hike and a great introduction to the wilderness of the Adirondacks. TREK #6 NORTHVILLE - PLACID TRAIL Max Group Size: 10 Advanced Trek This trip is strictly a backpacking trip with no aquatics activities. Depending on the itinerary, we will transport either to Lake Placid and drop off at the Adirondack Loj or at Blue Mountain Lake Trail head. We pick up at the opposite location. DEC designated campsites and lean-tos are used along the trail. Enjoy a taste of the high peaks splendor. TREK #7 MARMADUKE CANOE TRIP Max Group Size: 8 Advanced Trek This trek emulates the legend of the DUKE. Begin this trek with a scenic half day paddle to the west end of Low s Lake where the group begins a long canoe carry to the headwaters of the Oswegatchie River. The three mile carry may be done in one day or as an overnight venture. While canoeing toward Cranberry Lake, you will cross several beaver dams, waterfalls and rapids in some of the most remote areas of the Adirondacks. This 30 mile trek may only be attempted by experienced and determined groups. TREK # 8 LOWS LAKE FISHING TREK Max Group Size: 12 Beginner Trek Is going for distance not your thing? Does half of your gear consist of the latest in fishing tackle? Do you just want to learn the ropes? Look no further than a Lows Lake Fishing Trek. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can fish till your hearts content on this trek. Pay a visit to some of the more remote parts of Lows Lake such as Bog Lake where rumor has it the bass have become lazy from the lack of fisherman. You can land the big one and learn to cook it over an open campfire. With a little luck and perseverance you will come home with more than just a fish story! NOTE: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation [NYSDEC] Fishing Rules and Regulations apply while you are on this Trek. The regulations state: - Everyone must have a valid New York State Fishing License in their possession while fishing OR helping someone fish except persons under 16 years of age. If you are 16 years old or older OR will be helping someone fish you can obtain Fishing License information by going to the NYSDEC website. [ / click on Fishing / click on Fishing Licenses / click on Purchase a License / follow the instructions as stated] TREK REQUIREMENTS All Trek participants, both youth and adult, must pass the blue tag swimming test to participate in Treks involving ANY aquatic activities. Adult leaders must be 21 years of age and approved by council. Youth participants must be 13 years of age before the start of the trek. All Trek Group size Maximums include your Trek Guide. HIGH ADVENTURE AT JAMES MARMADUKE TREK CENTER For Scouts 13 years of age or older and Venturers. Canoeing or backpacking coupled with the Outdoor Code and the Leave No Trace Camping Program is the backbone of the high adventure trek that awaits you at the trek center. Explore the Saranac chain of lakes, hike the Northville-Placid Trail, canoe the Raquette River or spend the week fishing Lows Lake. These are a few of the adventures that are in store for you. We will provide a fully trained and certified guide, and equip you with all the trail tents and stoves you ll need for a trip to a wilderness retreat.

6 Employment at Camp Looking for adventure while using your skills and talents to help other scouts have a camp experience of a lifetime, then employment at a Longhouse Council Summer Camp could be your ticket for summer fun. To be employed at camp you must be 15 years or older on or before July 1, of the year applied for, be a current registered member of the Boy Scouts of America, meet necessary standards of ability and moral conduct, have a savings or checking account in your own name as payroll is direct deposit only (no paper checks are issued), report in time for staff training and stay through the end of tear down after camper season. We also offer a Counselor in Training (CIT) Program for Scouts who will be 14 years of age by the start of staff week. For the CIT Program, applicants must be First Class and registered with an active Boy Scout Troop or Venture Crew. You will complete a training program and experience assignments in all areas of camp operation. You and your parents should be aware that your pay will be the training you receive and your room and board provided to you at no cost. You are required to attend Staff Week and two other weeks while camp is in session. Both of these applications are located on the Sabattis Website: Workerships Every scout should have the opportunity to attend summer camp and enjoy the outdoor camping program that is central to the scouting program. Longhouse Council makes individual workerships available to registered Longhouse Council Scouts who otherwise would not be able to attend camp at Sabattis Scout Reservation. The concept is simple and straightforward. The council manages the funds for these workerships. The scout will EARN credit toward his/her workership by doing meaningful work to help the unit s sponsoring organization or other non-profit organizations in their community. This work may not provide a benefit to the BSA and may not be a part of Service Project hours required for rank advancement. The work will be done on a volunteer basis and the organization will NOT pay the scout for his/her work. The unit is responsible to arrange the work opportunities. Workership Application can be downloaded from the Council Website at for your convenience. Trading Post Pre-Sale Important Information Continuing in 2015 is the Trading Post Pre-Sale.
