4 Our IPv6 journey This presentation reflect our own IPv6 journey that started around 2007 It was obvious that our current ISP couldn t deliver IPv6 We never intended to do a complete survey, just a quick check if the grass was greener somewhere else No one is more pleased than me if there are false negatives along the journey

5 Our ISP IP-only in 2008 At first, we were begging for 6 months Then, our packets missed the shortest track 64 bytes from : icmp_seq=1 ttl=250 time=1.32 ms 64 bytes from : icmp_seq=2 ttl=250 time=1.37 ms 64 bytes from : icmp_seq=3 ttl=250 time=1.38 ms bytes from 2a00:800:0:1::3:2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=50 time=363 ms 64 bytes from 2a00:800:0:1::3:2: icmp_seq=2 ttl=50 time=362 ms 64 bytes from 2a00:800:0:1::3:2: icmp_seq=3 ttl=50 time=363 ms In parallel we started to look around for alternatives

18 Some funny (?) comments ComHem spring 2009 At the current situation where this is a global issue and is not solely on ComHem's plate. ComHem spring 2011 At the moment there is no or very limited customer value in offering IPv6. Since IPv6 offers some technical challenges in addition to advantages there we are waiting to offer it in our network. When the technology is sufficiently widespread on the Internet ComHem will also be ready to enable IPv6.

19 Some more comments Bredbandsbolaget spring 2011 IPv6 will be implemented when there is a need for it and the moment, there is no such need. T3 spring 2011 At the moment we do not use IPv6. It is not yet released, the Internet is not ready for this yet. Until the world is ready we go IPv4! Then we will of course run IPv6.

20 And some brand new ones ComHem February 2015 IPv6 is a IP address that have 5 dots, ask the customer to buy a router that assigns IPv6 addresses. I don t think there are any operator in Sweden that assigns IPv6 T3 February 2015 We will release our version of IPv6 at the same time as the rest of the vendors and companies.

21 The Apollo program It took them 8 years to reach the goal Landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth" It's been 8 years since our IPv6 trip started and too many of you are still on the moon. An advice, the market is not on the moon...

22 Our IPv6 journey ends here We are early adopters and they always suffer. We can live with that But, 8 years later, still 1 of 3 ISP s does not provide IPv6. We can hardly accept that! Finally, please train sales, marketing and support. They make it even worse
