1 MASENO UNIVERSITY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT OFFICE OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR Council Affairs Officer (Grade 12) AD/01/06/13 1 Position Applicants must be holders of a Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration or other Management areas from a recognized University plus CPS (K) with at least five years experience at the level of Senior Administrative Assistant Grade 10 in a University setting or an Institution of higher learning. In addition, the applicant must be conversant with modern trends and therefore must have a strong background in Information Technology. Those with a Masters Degree and Legal training will also be considered. Secretary (Grade 7) AD/02/06/13-1 Position Applicants must have a minimum of C- in KCSE and Business English III, Office Management III, Secretarial duties II, Office Practice II, Commerce II, Computer packages, six years experience and must be able to type 50/120 words per minute and shorthand respectively. INTERNAL AUDIT Chief Internal Auditor (Grade 14) AD/03/06/13-1 Position Applicants must be holders of an MBA in Finance or Accounting from a reputable institution and must also have CPA (K) with at least five (5) years experience in a University or a large institution of higher learning at the level of Senior Internal Auditor. In addition, the applicant must be a member of a Professional Accounting body (ICPAK). Internal Auditor (Grade12) AD/04/06/13 1 Position Applicants must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and CPA (K) with at least five years experience in a University or an Institution of higher learning at the level of Senior Assistant Auditor. In addition, the applicant must be a member of a Professional Accounting body (ICPAK). Senior Audit Assistant (Grade 7/8) AD/05/06/13 4 Positions Applicants must be holders of at least a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) option or CPA (K) with at least two years experience in a University or an Institution of higher learning. In addition, the applicant must be a member of a Professional Accounting body (ICPAK). 1

2 TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT Auto Electrician (Grade 3/4) - AD/06/06/13 2 Positions Applicants must have a minimum Grade of C Plain in form Four (4), Craft or Final proficiency certificate in Auto Electrical Engineering with at least three years experience in a busy workshop. In addition, the candidate should have knowledge in electronic engine/transmission systems operations, have a Driver s license and should be Computer literate. Those candidates with Diploma will have an added advantage. Automotive Mechanics (Grade 5/6/7) AD/07/06/13 2 Positions Applicants must have a Diploma in Auto/Mechanical Engineering with at least three (3) years experience in repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipments especially four(4) wheel drive vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles and tractors. Applicants must have a valid driving license and must be able to demonstrate Computer literacy. Those with experience in a reputable franchise holder or a busy garage and are able to multi-task will have an added advantage. BOOKSHOP Bookshop Attendant (Grade 3/4) AD/09/06/13 1 Position Applicants must be holder s of at least KCSE mean Grade of C- plus an Advanced Certificate in Marketing Management and at least five (5) years experience working in a large University bookshop/ set up. SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY Associate Professor (Grade 14) - AC/01/06/13 1 Position Applicants must be holders of a first degree in Medicine (MBChB, MBBS or MD) or Veterinary Medicine (BVM), and MSc and PhD in Pharmacy or Pharmacology from a recognized University. In addition, applicants must have published at least six (6) papers in refereed journals and should be first, second or third author in at least half of the papers, or at least six (6) books or twelve (12) chapters in the applicant s area of specialization since last appointment as an Associate Professor. They must have successfully supervised at least two (2) PhD and three (3) Masters students since last appointment as an Associate Professor. At least three years experience of teaching and research at a University as Assistant Lecturer/ Tutorial Fellow/ or Research Fellow and at least two publications will have an added advantage. Applicants must be registered or registerable with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and must be ready to undertake further sub-specialist training in pathology leading to Fellowship or PhD in any discipline of pathology. Services Clinic. Tutorial Fellow (Grade 11) - AC/08/06/13-1 Position Applicants must be holders of first degree in Medicine ( MBChB, MBBS or MD) from a recognized University and must be registered or registerable with Medical Practitioners and Dentits Board. They must be ready to undertake postgraduate training in pathology leading to MMed in Clinical/General pathology or any discipline of pathology. The successful applicant will be appointed on contract for two (2) years renewable once for another two (2) years during which time he/ she should have obtained the MMed. Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist (Grade 12) - AC/09/06/13-1 Position Applicants must have Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pathology or a Bachelor s Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized University. They must have at least five (5) years relevant experience in a research institution or academic Institution of higher learning at the level of Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist. OR Applicants must be holders of Masters Degree in any discipline of pathology and at least five years relevant experience at grade ten (10), and must have the ability to conduct independent research. 5

6 Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist (Grade 9/10) - AC/10/06/13-1 Position Applicants must have Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pathology and at least five (5) years relevant experience in a research institution or academic Institution of higher learning at the level of grade ten (10). They must have the ability to conduct independent research. Holders of Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science/Technology Degree or equivalent will also be considered. Medical Laboratory Technologist (Grade 7/8) - AC/11/06/13-2 Positions Applicants must possess KACE/ KCSE/ KCE academic certificates, and Ordinary Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized Institution. They must have at least three years relevant experience in a research or academic Institution. Medical Laboratory Attendant (Grade 2/3) - AC/12/06/13-2 Positions Applicants must possess KACE/ KCSE/ KCE academic certificates, and must have undertaken professional training lasting at least one (1) year in a relevant field. He or she should be ready to undertake postgraduate training (MMed) in Surgery or Anaesthesiology. The successful applicant will be required to teach and conduct clinical demonstrations to undergraduate students under supervision of a senior faculty. In addition, they must have at least three (3) years of teaching in a University as Lecturer and must have published at least three (3) papers in refereed journals or at least one University level book in the applicants area of specialization since the last appointment as Lecturer. The candidate must demonstrate ability to supervise post graduate students and also demonstrate good leadership ability as well as ability to attract research funding. Lecturer (Grade 12) - AC/24/06/13-2 Positions Applicants must be holder s of a PhD Degree in any of the following areas;urban and Regional Planning, Urban design or Architecture from a recognized University. DEPARTMENT OF URBAN MANAGEMENT Lecturer (Grade 12) - AC/25/06/13 2 Positions Applicants must be holder s of a PhD Degree in any of the following areas;urban Management, Urban Disaster Management, GIS and remote sensing, Public and Urban Policy and Public Administration from a recognized University. SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL SCIENCE Professor (Grade 15) - AC/26/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have a Bsc Degree in Animal Science or Agriculture, Msc and a PhD Degree in Animal Science from a recognized institution. In addition, they must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at a University as Associate Professor and must have published at least six (6) papers in refereed journals or at least three (3) University level books in the applicant s area of specialization since last appointment as Associate Professor. 11 Associate Professor (Grade 14) - AC/27/06/13 1 Position Applications are invited for the position of Professor in the School of Agriculture and Food Security. Applicants must have a Bsc Degree in Animal Science or Agriculture, Msc and a PhD Degree in Animal Science from a recognized institution. In addition, they must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at a University as a Senior Lecturer and must have published at least five (5) papers in refereed journals or at least two (2) University level books in the applicant s area of specialization since last appointment as Senior Lecturer. The candidate must have supervised post graduate students, be able to demonstrate good leadership ability as well as show ability to attract research funding. Senior Lecturer Animal Nutrition/Livestock Production Systems (Grade 13) - AC/28/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have B.Sc. degree in Animal Science or Agriculture, M.Sc. and Ph. D. in Animal Nutrition/Livestock Production Systems. In addition he/she must have published at least three papers in referred journals or one University book since his/her how evidence of excellent scholarship as demonstrated to include strength in scientific publications, supervision of postgraduate students and attraction of Research Funds. The Preferred candidate would most likely be serving at the level of Lecturer or higher. Experience in academic administrative responsibilities at Departmental or Faculty level will be an added advantage. Lecturer Animal Nutrition/Livestock Production Systems (Grade 12) - AC/29/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have B.Sc. degree in Animal Science or general Agriculture, M.Sc. in Animal Science and Ph. D in Animal Science with a bias in Animal Nutrition/Livestock Production Systems.Evidence of excellence in scholarship including Scientific Publications, supervision of postgraduate students and attraction of Research Funds will provide added advantage. Lecturer Animal Health (Grade 12) - AC/30/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have a Bachelor s Degree in Veterinary Medicine, an Msc in any of the following Veterinary disciplines, Veterinary parasitology, immunology,virology, toxicology and microbiology and should have a PhD in a Veterinary discipline. The candidate must also be registered by the Kenya Veterinary board. Evidence of excellence in scholarship including Scientific Publications, supervision of postgraduate students and attraction of Research Funds will provide added advantage. Senior Technologist (Grade 8/9/10) - AC/31/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have a minimum of a Bsc in Animal Science from a recognized institution. In addition, he/she must have at least five years work experience in a busy Animal Science Laboratory /Enterprise at the level of Technologist or its equivalent. Knowledge of experimental procedures in the three main facets of animal Science (Animal Health, nutrition and production) is critical. Laboratory Technologist (Animal Nutrition) Grade 5/6/7- AC/32/06/13 1 Position 11

Laboratory Technologist (Animal Health) Grade 5/6/7- AC/33/06/13 1 Position Applicants must have a minimum of a Diploma in Animal Health from a recognized College/University. In addition, he/she must have at least three years work experience in a busy Animal Health/biological science Laboratory/Enterprise. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED PLANT SCIENCES Lecturer (Grade 12) - AC/34/06/13-1 Position Applicants must have a Bsc, Msc and PhD Degrees in Agricultural Engineering or its related field. Evidence of excellence in scholarship including Scientific Publications, supervision of postgraduate students and attraction of Research funds will have an added advantage. DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE Associate Professor (Grade 14) - AC/35/06/ Position Applicants must have a Bsc, Msc and a PhD Degree in Fisheries or its related field from a recognized institution. In addition, they must have at least three (3) years teaching experience at a University as a Senior Lecturer and must have published at least five (5) papers in refereed journals or at least two (2) University level books in the applicant s area of specialization since last appointment as Senior Lecturer. The candidate must have supervised post graduate students, be able to demonstrate good leadership ability as well as show ability to attract research funding. Senior Lecturer (Grade 13) - AC/36/06/13-1 Position Applicants must have B.Sc.,M.Sc. and Ph. D. Degrees in Fisheries or its related field.
