Report unilateral damage (damage without another party). Make an appointment for repair, maintenance or a tyre change. Give notice of a change of address. View some tax tips. Check up on the terms and conditions for assistance. For urgent help in the event of a breakdown or damage, the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This means also during the weekend! LeasePlan Driver Contact Center: +31 (0) The LeasePlan Driver Contact Center is the point of contact for all of LeasePlan s drivers. From Monday to Friday we are available from to hours. You can contact us for instance for: A damage report or questions about settling damage. Problems with your fuel card or an application for a new fuel card. An authorisation for a parking permit or driving abroad. An appointment for repair, maintenance or a tyre change. 4

5 Instruction booklet Before you start driving your lease car, it is recommended to read the manufacturer s instruction booklet carefully and follow the instructions. This is important for the car s life span, your safety and driving pleasure. With your car you are permitted to: Do anything that does not result in any damage or additional costs or endanger others and is within the law and terms of general usage. Tow trailers and caravans, as long as the legal requirements are met. However, some cars are not allowed to tow any type of trailer (for example the Toyota Prius). Allow another person to drive, for example family members or colleagues. Also read your car policy beforehand to see if your employer has given permission for this. Participate in treasure hunts (rallies) and pleasure drives in which speed and time are not the principal factors. This only applies to rallies that completely take place within the Netherlands and are shorter than 24 hours. Do not use your car: In countries that are not mentioned on your international motor insurance certificate. For races in which speed is the principal factor. Driving more economically Do you want to save fuel and reduce CO 2 emissions? Switch over to a new style of driving, called Ecodrive: Drive at a constant speed. Switch to a higher gear when possible. Anticipate traffic. Reduce speed gradually by using the engine to break. Check the tyre pressure regularly. Filling up You can use a Travelcard or Multi Tank Card at practically every petrol station in the Netherlands. When the DKV service has been added, you can also use the card to pay abroad. You can recognise the DKV service by the DKV logo. Often there is a sign with this logo at the entrance to the petrol station. Tip: Local petrol stations Try to avoid filling up at petrol stations along the motorway. In general, the price is considerably higher. Unmanned petrol stations often have lower fuel prices. 5

6 Filling up with the wrong type of fuel It regularly occurs that petrol is used to fill up a diesel car. This results in major damage to the engine. In the event that this accidentally happens to you, do not start the engine in any case. Call the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center as soon as possible. Note: Your fuel card is worth money in combination with your PIN code! Therefore, always keep your card and the code separate from each other. Do not lend out the card. Unfortunately we cannot compensate any possible costs of improper use. Loss or theft must always be reported immediately to the police and after that to the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center. Repair, maintenance or a tyre change via the Appointment Planner Would you like to make an appointment for repair, maintenance or a tyre change? This is very easy via Here you can select a supplier that is convenient for you. You can also make an appointment via the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center. Bear in mind that some garages are not able to carry out all services regarding to your lease car. Tips for daily use We advise you to check the tyre pressure, oil level and the level of the other liquids on a regular basis. Do not forget to make timely appointments for regular maintenance and the periodic motor vehicle test (APK in Dutch). The maintenance interval that applies to your lease car can be found in the maintenance booklet. The difference between maintenance, repair and damage Maintenance: regular maintenance to your lease car linked to the mileage driven, for example the replacement of oil and filters. Repair: repair or replacement of components that are broken due to a breakdown or wear and tear, for example a broken fuel pump or window wiper motor. Damage: repair or replacement of components that are broken due to an obvious reason, for example dents after a collision. 6

7 Winter tyres Do you want to drive safely during the winter? Then ask your employer if you may have winter tyres fitted to your car. Your employer can include the LeasePlan Winter Tyres Program in the lease contract. Go to for more information. You can easily make an appointment for a tyre change online via the LeasePlan Appointment Planner. Abroad Are you travelling abroad? Please take the following information into account: Do not forget to bring the international motor insurance certificate (groene kaart). This enables you to show that your lease car is insured. If the car is not registered in your name, you need an authorisation form. This form can be found in the driver s folder. Keep all receipts for any small repairs that you paid for (headlights, taillights, antenna). You can claim these expenses upon your return to the Netherlands. Caravan and trailer Trailers are automatically included in the insurance policy via the third-party insurance of the vehicle that tows the trailer. This means that damage caused to third parties by the caravan/trailer towed by your car is included in the insurance policy free of charge. Are you going abroad? In that case, it is wise to apply for a separate international motor insurance certificate for your trailer or caravan. Please contact your insurance company about this. Note: Damage to the trailer or caravan and the load/contents is not covered by us. We recommend you to take out insurance yourself to cover this. 7

8 Assistance In the event that you become stranded with your lease car, please contact the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center via +31 (0) Your fuel card and service card mention the type of assistance that your employer has chosen: Module 1 Key and towing assistance throughout the Netherlands, also from your home address. Module 2 Equal to module 1, supplemented by assistance abroad. Key and towing assistance at home and abroad. Replacement transport (rental class B) if your car cannot be repaired sufficiently to be driven the same day. Transportation of the lease car to the Netherlands, when the repair takes longer than two working days or when the car cannot be repaired abroad. Repatriation of your trailer/ caravan if the lease car can no longer be driven or cannot be repaired sufficiently to be driven again due to damage or a breakdown. Module 3 Key and towing assistance at home and abroad. Replacement transport (rental class D) if your car cannot be repaired sufficiently to be driven the same day. (Limited) compensation for hotel and other expenses. For the exact details of the assistance package, please go to Is there no module number on your card? Then your employer has arranged the assistance in another way. Please contact your fleet manager about this. Any expenses incurred by LeasePlan will be charged to your employer including a surcharge. 8

10 What to do in the event of damage, theft or a break-in? Damage Always fill in a European accident statement and do not forget to fill in the reverse side as well. Have the other party sign the form as well. Report the damage as soon as possible via or via the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center: +31 (0) Together with you, LeasePlan will look for a damage or glass repair company (also in the event of window damage). You will also receive a damage report number from the Driver Contact Center. You can state this on the claim form. Make a copy of the European accident statement and send it to LeasePlan s Damage department. Damage by an unidentified motor vehicle The Motor Traffic Guarantee Fund [Waarborgfonds Motorverkeer] offers your insurance company the possibility to recover (parking) damage that was caused by an unidentified motor vehicle. Compensation from the Motor Traffic Guarantee Fund is possible when you have incurred damage by: An unidentified motor vehicle (for example because the driver failed to stop after the accident). An uninsured motor vehicle. 10

11 A stolen motor vehicle. A motor vehicle that is insured with an insurance company that has gone bankrupt. Conditions set by the Guarantee Fund to qualify for compensation: Your damage was caused in all cases by a motor vehicle or an attached trailer. It is a fact that another party can be held liable for the damage. You have made a demonstrable effort to discover the identity of the party that caused the damage. Consideration should be given especially to filing a police report (in a number of cases this can be done via There has to be evidence of the incident that caused the damage. Only your own statement is insufficient proof. Statements are necessary from witnesses who are willing to confirm their statement under oath. Theft Report the theft to the police. Then contact the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center: +31 (0) The Driver Contact Center will give you a damage report number. Then send the police report to LeasePlan s Damage Department, while stating the damage report number. Break-in Report this immediately to the local police or via Then contact the LeasePlan Driver Contact Center: +31 (0) Send the following to LeasePlan s Damage Department: - police report; - completed and signed claim form; - the receipts of any personal accessories stolen; - the front of your stolen radio or navigation system (if applicable). Note: Did you witness the accident? Then try to write down or find out the registration number of the person responsible. Contact the police immediately. LeasePlan Attn. 12 Rental car If your lease car cannot be used temporarily, we keep you mobile with a replacement car. Your fleet manager or LeasePlan s regular contact person can inform you about the rules and possibilities. Fines Possible fines that we receive from the CJIB (the agency responsible for the collection of fines in the Netherlands) will be forwarded to you with the request to pay them yourself. When we receive a reminder, we will pay the fine and pass it on to your employer including administrative costs. Municipal fines are immediately paid by LeasePlan due to their short payment term. The amount will be passed on including administrative costs. You are free to pay such fines immediately on the spot if this is possible in the municipality concerned. Note: We advise you to inform the rental company immediately after you stop using the rental car, as this is your responsibility as the driver. You will then receive a confirmation code. If this is not being done in time, we will be forced to charge you any additional costs. For more information about rental cars, go to Returning your lease car We advise you to return the car to one of the return addresses approved by LeasePlan. Together with a staff member of the location concerned you fill in a collection form. For a complete overview of the return addresses, go to: You can also return your car to the dealer where you pick up your new lease car. However, in this case there is no possibility to fill in a return form. The definitive receipt of the car then takes place at LeasePlan Occasions in Raamsdonksveer. 12

When you return the car, please leave the following items behind in your car: All keys: spare key and/or master key and if applicable the code card. Vehicle registration certificates (in the glove compartment). If they are missing, the costs of replacing them are passed on to your employer. The maintenance and instruction booklet belonging to the car. All accessories that are included under the lease. If any are missing, LeasePlan will report this to the police and the costs will be passed on to your employer. Possible software for the navigation system. Full set of emergency equipment (including the jack, warning triangle, spare wheel or mobility set). International motor insurance certificate. The report from the latest motor vehicle test, abbreviated APK in Dutch (if applicable). 13

14 When returning the car, take the following into account: Do you have any damage to your car that has not been reported yet? Please do this as quickly as possible, and before returning the car. A clean car speeds up a quick and correct return. Possible costs for cleaning the car will be charged to your employer. Also try to keep the outside of the car clean. This prevents the lacquer from getting damaged. If you have winter tyres, then return the car with the summer tyres on the car and put the winter tyres in the boot (if possible). Tip: Call the tyre specialist in time. They usually need a week to get the tyres to the applicable branch. After you have returned the car, it is no longer insured. LeasePlan is not liable for damage to or loss of any personal accessories or loose items left in your car. The fuel card is linked to the lease car so you will receive a new fuel card with a new car. Never return your fuel card with the car and never give it to someone else. Render the fuel card unusable by cutting through the magnetic stripe and then throwing it away. Buying your lease car You know the history of your lease car better than anyone, so you also know how well the car drives and how reliable it is. Would you like to buy your lease car at the end of the contract period or do you want a family member, friend or colleague to have the pleasure of driving your lease car? If your employer permits this, we gladly make you a proposal to buy the car. LeasePlan Occasions looks after the selling of cars for which the lease contract has terminated. For more information, please go to or call +31 (0) Note: It is possible that deviating agreements were made with your employer in regards to returning the lease car. Temporary cars, or pool cars, can for example be returned to a location determined by your employer. Please contact your fleet manager about this. When you return your lease car and it is not being replaced by another LeasePlan car, you can ask us for a no-claim certificate. 14
