3 Overview This document will cover in detail how to configure an end users workstation to be compatibile with StrataJazz. Application Overview The system is built on the Microsoft.NET library utilizing ASP.NET and VB.NET languages. The back-end consists of a Microsoft SQL Server database. Though the system provides the majority of functionality through the web application, additional tools and modeling are available using Microsoft Click-Once technology. ClickOnceis a Microsoft technology that allows you to publish Windows-based applications to a Web server or network file share for simplified installation. This technology is used extensively in StrataJazz. For more details, see the following page: The StrataJazz system provides end users with financial decision making tools to aid in processes such as Decision Support, Operating Budgeting, Long Range Financial Planning, Rolling Forecasting, Capital Budgeting, and Capital Tracking. Workstation Requirements The majority of functionality for StrataJazz is available through Microsoft s Internet Explorer browser. Workstation Setting Supported Operating Systems Microsoft.NET Recommended Setup Microsoft Windows 7 (32/64 bit) Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 AND Microsoft.NET 4.0 Minimum Requirements Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 AND Microsoft.NET 4.0 Microsoft Office Microsoft Excel 2010 Microsoft Excel 2007 Microsoft Excel 2010 Internet Explorer (32-bit only) Internet Explorer 9.0 OR Internet Explorer 10.0 Internet Explorer 8.0 Minimum Resolution 1280x x 768

Checking Current Workstation Setup If a user is not sure if they currently meet the workstation requirements follow these validation checks Check what version of Internet Explorer is currently installed. To perform this check, open Internet Explorer Navigate to the Help menu Select About Internet Explorer In the about window check the version. Remember Internet Explorer 7, 8 and 9 are acceptable. If the workstation does not have IE 7, 8 or 9 see section 2.3 below to install IE8.

5 1.2 Check what versions of.net are installed. Open Internet Explorer and Navigate to A web page will appear which will identify if the computer has.net 3.5 and.net 4.0 If both say OK then the.net requirements are met and do not need to be installed. If one or both do read NOT FOUND then see section 2.2 below on installing.net 2. WorkStation Configuration 2.1 Intenet Explorer Settings Trusted Site Setup 1. Select Tools Internet Options from your Internet Explorer window 2. Select the Security tab 3. Select Trusted Sites and the click the Sites button 4. Add the following sites to the Trusted websites list a. *.stratanetwork.com b. *.strata-decision.com c. *.stratadecision.com 5. Verify the Require server verification ( for all sites in this zone checkbox is unchecked. 6. Select Close to close the Trusted site dialog window

6 2.1.2 Automatic Prompting for Downloads Enable prompting for file downloads 1. On the Security tab select the Trusted Sites zone 2. Choose the Custom Level button 3. Under the Downloads section find the setting Automatic prompting for file downloads and select Enable 4. Select OK to close the Security Settings 5. Select OK to close the Internet Options 6. Close and re-open Internet Explorer Automatic Prompting For Downloads in IE9 If using IE 9 you must follow these steps to set this setting. 1. On the Security Tab select the Trusted Sites zone 2. In the Security Levels for this zone section, scroll the security bar all the way to Low. 3. Select Apply 4. Select OK Compatibility View Settings (Internet Explorer 8.0 and Later) 1. Open the StrataJazz Login page ( ) 2. Select Tools Compatibility View Settings from the Internet Explorer window 3. In the Add this website: field please type stratanetwork.com and select the Add button 4. Confirm your setting appear the same as the image below and then close and re-open Internet Explorer

7 2.1.4 Pop-up Blocker Settings Some organizations have run into issues with their popup blocker blocking StrataJazz. To prevent this: 1. Open Internet Explorer 2. Select Tools Pop-up Blocker Pop-up Block Settings 3. Enter *.stratanetwork.com 4. Select Add 5. Select Close Meta Data Settings StrataJazz will send s to users to let them know that they have a message in StrataJazz. In this , there is a hyperlink that the user able to click, which will launch the login page. In order for the login page to launch correctly, the Refresh META setting needs to be enabled. To enable this: 1. Open Internet Explorer 2. Select Tools Internet Options 3. On the Security tab select the Trusted Sites zone 4. Choose the Custom Level button 5. Under Miscellaneous verify that Allow META REFRESH is enabled.

8 2.2 Installing.NET 4.0 and 3.5 SP1 Navigate to and follow the on screen instructions to install.net 4.0. This will also install.net 3.5 SP1 if both were missing. 2.3 Installing Internet Explorer 8 Navigate to and follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure to select the correct Operating System first.

9 3. Troubleshooting Common Errors This section describes many of the other common errors users may encounter while using StrataJazz. These are very easy issues to identify; sometimes users may send screenshots of the errors they are receiving. 3.1 Active X Error on Page Sometimes users will report that when they try to open anything they receive an error in the bottom left corner of the page. 3.3 IE Script Error Users may sometimes receive the following Error Message. This error message means that one of two IE settings are not correct. 1. Compatibility View is not enabled 2. IE Zoom is not set to 100%

10 The majority of the time this error is caused because a 64 bit version of Internet Explorer is being used. To check what version they are using follow these steps: 1. Click Help in IE tool bar (Alt +H) 2. Select About 3. Ensure that 64 bit is not next to the version
