1 VOLUNTEERING APPLICATION 2015 Y-Not Festival, Mouldridge lane, Pikehall Nr. Matlock, Derbyshire, DE42PH (This is the festival site address NOT a postal address.) You must be 16 or over to volunteer as Green Patrol and 18 or over to volunteer as a Steward / Backstage. Information These are voluntary roles, not paid positions. Whether you have volunteered at the Y Not Festival before, or are applying for your first time please be sure to read the information below for the changes for There is a lot of information below which should answer any questions that you have. Please read all of this, as this will also help you answer the questions on the application form. Dates & Times: The roles are for 5 hours (stewarding) or 4 hours (green patrol) per day during the festival Thursday 30 th July - Sunday 2 nd August All Volunteers will need to be on site at 10am on Thursday 30 th July 2015 for a pre festival briefing. This day will include a full briefing, fire safety, site tour around the festival and an explanation into exactly what your role entails. **If for any reason you are unable to be on site for the training session please only apply for the Green Patrol position** Please note that there will be no admittance prior to the 30 th July. Where possible we would love it if you could stay to help see people off on the Monday morning. Getting to the festival: The Festival site address is: Y-Not Festival, Mouldridge lane, Pikehall Nr. Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 2PH Please let us know if you will be parking your car on site and you will be able to collect your parking pass when signing in. The closest train stations are: Buxton, Derbyshire & Matlock, Derbyshire. Taxi s will be available from both stations aprox 20 mins away from the festival site. Car Share there will be space in the Facebook group to discuss car share options. We are unable to provide any transport or guarantee the safety of any transport options.

2 Volunteering roles: Please read through the position descriptions so that you can indicate in your application which role you would like to apply for. Duties could include, but are not limited to the following: Festival Steward 5 hours a day Festival Stewards are an essential cog in the inner workings of the festival by assisting the organisers with a whole range of duties that will ensure the smooth running of the festival. Main tasks may include: * Ticket and wristband control * Car park attending * Campsite attending * Access point guard * Human signpost for the festival goers * Y Not Festival Newspaper distribution * Customer information * Box Office * Car Parking * Programme / parking ticket selling * Assisting with ingress & directing festival goers * Helping to clear up on Monday morning (optional but would be really appreciated)

3 Skills and Personal Qualities Required: * Festival stewards will need to be vigilant, confident, flexible and committed to performing the required tasks. * To be physically fit as they will on their feet whilst on duty. Backstage Festival Steward 5 hours a day minimum shifts backstage need to fit around the times required, these can vary whilst on site. Main tasks may include: * Helping unload equipment from band transport * Assisting the set up back stage & be a runner * Customer Information * Helping to clear up on Monday morning (optional but would be really appreciated) Skills and Personal Qualities Required: * Festival stewards will need to be vigilant, confident, flexible and committed to performing the required tasks. * To be physically fit. THIS ROLE WILL INCLUDE HEAVY LIFTING, please only apply for this role if you re happy with this. * The hours for this role may go up to midnight. * Experience of working backstage is desirable; please give details of experience/ references in your application. * Steel toe capped boots are required for some roles please indicate in your application if you own / will be able to hire steel toe capped boots for the duration of the festival. We are unable to provide these. * If available on Wednesday this may be beneficial for some roles.

4 Festival Green Police 4 hours a day Whilst on duty the Green Police will keep the lush fields of the festival clean, green and tidy. Main tasks: * Picking up litter (gloves will be provided) * Assisting with the recycling * Customer Information * Helping to clear up on Monday morning (optional but would be really appreciated) Skills and Personal Qualities Required: * Committed to performing the required tasks. * Physically fit as they will on their feet whilst on duty. Street Teams We are looking for Y Not Festival Street Teams & Supervisors in Nottingham and Sheffield & distributors within Derbyshire. **Please only apply for this if you live within the city or are happy to travel there at your own expense** Role Includes: Gig promotion hours at each gig / location handing out promo material and branded flyers ensuring the key messages about the Y Not Festival are conveyed. 5 gigs per person. Poster & Flyer Distribution Completion of a Distribution sheet with details of how many flyers / posters were dropped off and where. Independent shops, music venues, bars, notice boards etc preferred, high street shops will rarely take information to display publicly. However, putting a poster with a couple of flyers in the staff room will still be very useful. Please ensure you seek permission. Qualities required: * Confidence at approaching people handing out information and talking to them about Y Not. * Enthusiasm. * General knowledge of the festival. * Timekeeping you must be able to be at the gig at the arrival time and stay for at least 2 hours.

5 * Record keeping can be handwritten initially but requested digitally for submission once complete. Additional posters / flyers will be available from the supervisor. * Must be able to provide own transport to & from the venue. * Please ensure you wear the Y Not merchandise you have been provided with. **Please note you do not need to go into the concert (tickets not provided) just be available after the gig** This role would be in place of volunteering at the Festival, unless you do part of your hours as a street team and part of your hours at the festival. Upon completion & confirmation from the supervisor your name will go on the entry list for the festival. During the festival you will be provided with a packed lunch per day. We will try to cater to different dietary requirements, although we do strongly advise that you bring food with you in case all meals are not suitable. *Volunteers also receive a festival t-shirt at the end of the weekend as thanks for their hard work over the weekend. * Whilst volunteers are off duty they get to enjoy the festival free of charge. * Volunteers will receive training on Thursday 30 th July * Volunteers can count the hours towards college / university / back to work programmes if you need forms signing off please bring them with you to the festival and these will be signed off on Sunday. * Volunteers can volunteer with their friends.
