1 VALTELLINA VALPOSCHIAVO EXPO PROJECT July 2012: assignment entrusted to Società di Sviluppo Locale SpA by the Province of Sondrio, Valposchiavo Region and the Chamber of Commerce of Sondrio to initiate a project called "Valtellina Valposchiavo Expo" Project Valtellina / Valposchiavo similarities: identity, morphology, culture, history Perspective on Expo Milano 2015: opportunity to give visibility and business to our territories Strategy: the starting of a synergetic collaboration between public and private sectors in order to support, foster and enact activities that our territories intend to carry out for the 2015 Milan World Fair Project Aim: in view of Expo 2015, to promote and empower, with a sustainable approach: - tourism activities in the Province of Sondrio and in the Valposchiavo Region - food and beverage excellence productions - business sector of Valtellina and Valposchiavo

2 Documents: a Positioning Plan for the province of Sondrio and the Valposhiavo Region to assess the area's potential and the various investment opportunities for the Province of Sondrio and the Valposchiavo Region in view of the 2015 Milan Universal Exhibition a Feasibility Study on a "Mountain Train" to verify technical and financial feasibility of a proposed rail link between Tirano and the Milan Expo pavilions, with the aim of creating travel itineraries linked both to the Expo event and the Bernina Express Train (UNESCO World Heritage) a Feasibility Study on a Slow Train

4 2013 Sondrio hosts the Italian Presidency of the Alpine Convention: brainstorming on a preliminary proposal for the enhancement of mountain areas in EXPO Milano 2015 Participation to the Sondrio International Film Festival Alpine tyipical food and wine excellence products of Valtellina and Valposchiavo presented on the occasion of the Conference Towards an EU Strategy for the Alpine Region 2014 Promoting and giving visibility to the Alpine Convention presence in Expo Milano 2015 in the framework of events, exhibitions, conferences focusing on specific topics related to Alpine Regions (Mountain Green Economy and Agriculture, energy and food sustainability, Alpine diet, traditional farming products, local cuisine, etc ) with a cross-border cooperative approach

6 CATERING VALTELLINA VALPOSCHIAVO FOR THE ITALIAN NATIONAL DAY June 2, 2014: Valtellina and Valposchiavo samples of great food and wine products offered at the Italian Embassy in Bern as proof of the richness and variety of Alpine territories culinary tradition. Presentation of Valtellina Valposchiavo Expo activities as a proof of alpine territories strong will and ability to achieve cross-border cooperation THE SLOW TRAIN :VALTELLINA VALPOSCHIAVO ELITE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE IN VIEW OF EXPO MILANO 2015 September 2014: First Slow Train experience (media educational) + visit in Valtellina/Valposchiavo/Engadina/Bregaglia/Valchiavenna Vintage dining cars pulled by a vintage locomotive, starting from September 2014, will offer Michelin Stars Chefs deluxe restaurant service. Involvement of internationally renowed chefs flanked by Michelin Star local chefs in order to reinterpret recipes using top quality food and wine traditional products of Valtellina and Valposchiavo offered on the Slow Train vintage restaurant cars Showing on the Slow Train of the documentary Rupi di Vino by Ermanno Olmi

7 - thematic round tables on tourism and agricolture with key stakeholders of these specific sectors in view of Expo 2015; - meetings held with Trenord to obtain cooperation with regard to interventions envisaged in the feasibility Study on a "Mountain Train" and to its consequent realization SAMPLES OF PROJECT ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN Permanent contacts with personnel of Expo 2015 spa, Pavilion Italia, Pavilion Switzerland, Chamber of Commerce of Milano, banks, foundations and other relevant stakeholders in order to promptly investigate on opportunities for Valtellina and Valposchiavo in view of the Universal Exhibition of Milano : a website to inform on Valtellina Valposchiavo Expo project activities - consulting activities for local companies, easing contacts with Expo 2015 spa, organizing seminars and preparing companies to meetings with the Expo 2015 spa Procurement Office - Buffet Valtellina: Valtellina is the first Italian territory to have an exclusive representation of its food and beverage excellence productions on the occasion of the first official meeting of Expo Milano 2015 spa and Pavilion Italia with the Presidents of the Italian Regions

8 - Support to local events in order to obtain Pavilion Italia Expo 2015 presence/sponsorship: Valtellina Valposchiavo catering in Bruxelles; Bresaola Festival; Fotografando 2013: photographic contest on Pavilion Italia Expo Milano 2015 themes. - Endorsement to 100% Valposchiavo Project in Expo Milano 2015: «green» positioning plan of Valposchiavo Region (positioning plan of agricultural products from Valposchiavo as excellence market niche. Further increase of percentage of BioSuisse certificated farms) - Presentations of project activities jointly with local institutions to the public and to the representatives of local political/economic sectors
