1 Kaspersky Internet Security for Android This document will guide you through the process of downloading Kaspersky Internet Security for Android devices using the WVU portal. Screenshots are included at significant steps. Depending on the browser and your version of Android, your screen may look slightly different, but the process will remain consistent. Preparing for Installation You must verify the following before installing Kaspersky Internet Security on your Android device: Hardware and software minimum requirements Smartphone or tablet with a screen resolution of 320x480 pixels or higher. 15 MB of free disk space in the main memory of the device. Android operating system versions Reliable Internet access for application download and activation. The app is installed to the main memory of the device only. The SIM card must be inserted in the device to enable the use of Call &Text Filter, Privacy Protection, SIM Watch, and Text Anti-Phishing. 1

2 NOTE: You have the option of using a PC to connect to the Kaspersky WVU portal to download the software and then transfer it to your Android device via a cable connection, or you can download it directly to your Android device using a browser. These instructions show the installation process directly downloaded on an Asus Nexus 7 using the Chrome browser. Your screens may vary. APP Installation Security Most Android devices will not allow installation of an app that does not come directly from the Google Play store. Before preceding you must reset your device security level to allow installation of Kaspersky. Even then you should install a File Explorer in order to complete the Kaspersky installation. 1) Reset App Installation Security. From your Android desktop, find and open Settings, then select Security. 2

3 2) In the Security screen, select and enable Unknown Sources: Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store. 3) Go to Apps screen. Select Play Store. Search for File Explorer 3

4 4) We have had success with ES File Explorer File Manager. After installation it will pop open a file manager view. You can leave that screen open and hit the home button on your device. 4

5 Downloading and Installing Kaspersky Internet Security 1) Open a browser and go to You will be automatically redirected to the Kaspersky WVU portal to download the Android software. Your official WVU address is used to access the download link and get a license code. Click SUBMIT. Uncheck! 2) A confirmation of submission will appear in the browser: 3) Check the account you used on the Kaspersky site for the link and license code. If it is not in your inbox, look in your SPAM/JUNK folder. The activation code is hidden in this 5

6 example, but will be a series of letters and number in the form #####-#####-#####-##### Notice the link for the Kaspersky download: 4) If you are going to download and install Kaspersky immediately, you must uninstall/remove any pre-existing anti-virus software on your phone/tablet before selecting the download. If you are going to download and install at a later date, leave your current anti-virus in place and uninstall/remove it just before installing Kaspersky. 5) Go to the download site and select the link Approval for the download will show at the top of your browser. Click OK. When the download completes, you can pull down the header to confirm. 6

7 6) Use the Recent/Open App button, find and select File Explorer. Click and Open Download. Click on the Kaspersky apk file. 7

9 8) At this screen, select the I have an activation code to access premium services. Use the code you received in your WVU from Kaspersky. 9

10 9) To complete the installation, select Scan your device. At the end of the scan you can modify Settings, or just proceed to use the device normally without further changes. 10

11 10) Notice the Kaspersky logo in the upper right of the screen, and the new app installed in you App collection. 11

12 11) To maintain a high level of security on your device, you should now DISABLE permission to install apps from unknown sources. a. Select SETTINGS, then SECURITY b. Uncheck the UNKNOWN SOURCES box. 12
