By-Laws, Rules, Application Page 2
3 ABOUT DIG LOCAL MISSION OF DIG LOCAL AND THE MARKET Dig Local is a not-for-profit organization founded upon the idea that access to good nutritious food is a human right. By way of community gardens, farmers markets, and accessible education, Dig Local works to provide communities of all economic levels a choice when faced with the ills of the modern food system. The Atlantic Beach Mid-Week Market, a project by Dig Local, continues with that ideology also acknowledging that locally grown, non-processed and organic food is a necessity when pursuing a healthy lifestyle. The market also works to provide an outlet for local farmers, farm products, and other locally-created green products. MARKET REVIEW BOARD The market is coordinated and governed by the Dig Local Board of Directors. This Board is made up of Market managers, local residents, health food activists and gardeners. The Board s decisions are also influenced by Market vendors, CARAC (Cultural Arts & Recreation Advisory Committee), and the City of Atlantic Beach. By-Laws, Rules, Application Page 3
4 REVIEW & APPROVAL APPLICATION Vendors must review this document in it entirety. If the vendor s business is still applicable to the market, then contact the Dig Local, Inc at info@diglocal. org to express their interest in participation. If approved, the Vendor will be notified and placed on the schedule for the following market after board approval. (Please note that artist/craftsman applications are subject to review by the City of Atlantic Beach as well as the Dig Local Board.) FOLLOWING APPROVAL If approved, the vendor will need to provide the last page only of this document ( Acknowledgment & Signature ), printed and signed, to the Market Manager on their first official day of attendance at the Atlantic Beach Mid-Week Market. The Market Manger will provide guidance on where to set up tables. Please Note: There is no day of or expedited application process. Applications will held in queue until the next board meeting. 8 PERCENTAGES OF CATEGORIES REPRESENTED & WAIT LIST PROCEDURE We recognize that Bull Memorial Park is not a large area and it is not our intention to fill the area with vendors. Our heart is in quality, not quantity. That being said, we wish to allow multiple vendors (4-5 food, 4-5 goods) to participate, not including a weekly artist, live entertainment, and also a welcome table. All applications are juried through the Dig Local Board of Directors. If they are accepted, vendors are placed on the waiting list under the appropriate category (farm products, food, plants, crafts, other). When a regular vendor spot comes open, the Board will decide who is moved up from the waiting list based on both their position on the waiting list and the needs of the Market. While on the waiting list, vendors may be asked to fill in on certain Wednesdays when regular vendors are absent. We rotate through the waiting list to give all vendors an opportunity to see how their products do at the Market. By-Laws, Rules, Application Page 8
9 VENDOR RULES 1. All Vendors shall meet the requirements found in By-Laws. 2. Vendors shall maintain a courteous and professional manner at the market. No alcohol may be consumed at the Market. Refrain from profanity. Vendors are expected to treat each other, customers and Market Managers with respect. 3. The Atlantic Beach Mid-Week Market will be open from 3-6 PM every Wednesday. No selling before or after hours. 4. Nothing will be sold from truck(s) located outside the designated green market area. Market Manager will assign spaces accordingly. Regular vendors may maintain their weekly spot. Vendors are responsible for keeping their spaces clean during and after the market. 5. Vendors can choose to be a weekly or monthly member. Vendor fees will be due the last Wednesday of each month, for the upcoming month. It is $5 per week. We ask for a commitment to the days you will be attending the upcoming month on the last Wednesday of the previous month. If you cannot do this, then we will work you in when we have available spaces. 6. All fees are non-refundable. The market is a rain or shine event. If paying by check, make payment to: Dig Local, Inc. There are no refunds for absences. 7. Scheduled Vendors must notify the Market Manager of a cancellation by the Sunday prior to that Wednesday. 8. Vendors are liable for their products. The Atlantic Beach Mid-Week Market, Dig Local, Inc., and the City of Atlantic Beach shall not be held accountable for the products offered by vendors. By-Laws, Rules, Application Page 9
