Each day consists of crafts, games, story and snack time. 5 Weekly Themes for Preschool and Summer Day Camp Camps being held: P Preschool Morning Camp SDC Summer Day Camp May 23-27: Un-Birthday (Check with location for exact dates) This week will be all about celebrating everyone s birthdays. We will play classic party games such as pin the tail, 3-legged race, egg races, balloon races and more. SDC May 31-June 3: Fun & Fitness (No program on May 30th) Grab your sunglasses and water bottle and get ready for some outside fun. We will explore new moves, fun active games, and learn about healthy ways to stay active and safe, including fitness and fun! P SDC June 6-10: Creative Campers The sky s the limit when your imagination soars! From games to science, let your creativity take charge as you help create a unique twist on our camp activities! P SDC June 13-17: Mad Science This week of experiments and fun activities will bring out the scientific lover in every kid. Plan on to make a mess! P SDC June 20-24: P Pay it Forward SDC Learn how to give back. Campers will get to know their community as they work on projects to help make our communities a safer, cleaner place to have fun. June 27-July 1: P Team Extreme SDC Time to show off your team spirit. Learn about team building and helping each other. Campers will conquer different fun and challenging activities that bring the points to their team! Which team will win it all? July 5-8: Fear Factor (No program on July 4th) Do you creep out easily? Or do you have what it takes to conquer our silly fear factor challenges? It s all up to you to save your camp counselor! P SDC July 11-15: P Call of the Wild SDC Time to get out to the great outdoors. This week we will explore all that nature has to offer, as we hike, sightsee nature and learn about many friendly creatures in the wild! Prepare to hike your boots off! July 18-22: P SDC Peace Out Time to say Peace Out with a decade-themed week! Bring costumes from different decades to spice up the style and to make old memories into new ones. July 25-29: P SDC Water Wipeout Jump, belly flop or dive into camp this week for waves. Water balloons, water slides, water games and races will keep us splashing around. Get ready for an awesome week of water activities that will make the hottest days feel cool! August 1-5: P SDC Olympic Adventures Prepare for the Olympics with the YMCA! This week we will explore the various Olympic traditions and games, as we enhance our track and field skills, in preparation for our Annual YMCA of Greater Omaha Track & Field Celebration! August 8-12: Lights, Camera, Action (Check location for exact dates) This week is all about focusing on self-esteem and talent of the youth. Whether you can draw like Picasso or can sing like Aretha, this is your week to shine. SDC August 15-19: SDC Lookin Back on Summer (Council Bluffs Only) Let s reflect back on our favorite camp activities this summer! We will be playing our favorite games, crafts and other activities. Join us for this last week of celebrating summer at the YMCA! 3

They will also have activity time with parachutes, songs, games and Family Adventure Center time. A snack will be provided. Campers will have fun practicing and competing in a variety of different sports as well as making crafts, playing games and other activities. A snack is provided. An end of camp presentation will be on Friday at 5:00 pm. We will visit water parks and enjoy water games. June Great Outdoors Have a kid that just loves the outdoors? Then this is the week for them. We will visit state parks and explore the terrain. June Crazy for Animals This week is all about animals and their lifestyles. We will visit the zoo and get to see animals up close during a presentation. June 27-July 1 Discover Lincoln* Have you always wanted to walk the Husker tunnel? Here is your chance! This week we will visit Memorial Stadium, Bob Devaney Center and Morrill Hall. July 5-8 (pro-rated week) Weird Science This week of experiments and fun activities will bring out the scientific lover in every kid. We will be visiting a science center in Aurora, NE. July Express Yourself This week your camper will be able to express their creative side. Whether it is drawing, singing, theatre, we will cover it all. July Amusement Park Fun In case you missed the first week of fun, here is your chance to experience it again! Games, prizes and bowling will take place this week. We will visit some of the exciting parks around town. July Best of Summer Didn t get enough fun this year? Then come this week when we do the best of the summer. August YMCA OF GREATER OMAHA

12 TEEN CAMPS Teen Discovery (13-18 years) Teen Discovery introduces your teen to adventures and opportunities for growth. The Y s program invites your teen to try something new and make friends. Our summer is filled with experiences ranging from pre-college enrichment and community service projects to themes, sports, field trips, and art exploration. Teen Discovery inspires positive selfesteem through respect of self and others. Registration Fee: $25 per teen - includes camp t-shirt. 13 Counselors-in-Training (13-15 years) Teens will be trained in leadership skills and learn the fundamentals of working with campers under the guidance of counselors. CITs will spend a week in training learning the basic day camp counselor responsibilities: caring for campers, licensing standards for day camps, camp and field trip safety, along with planning songs, games, arts/crafts and themed activities. Training Fee: $65 Includes T-shirt upon completion. Training Dates: June Location TBD July Location TBD 9:00 am-4:00 pm Contact Joey Lorincz jlorincz@metroymca.org CITs who successfully complete the program and have a positive evaluation will be allowed to volunteer as a YMCA camp counselor. You may choose the location and weeks you would like to participate in. 11

14 YMCA CAMP PLATTE YMCA Camp Platte is held at Platte River State Park, and runs for 8 one-week sessions. This camp is for children ages 6-7, 8-12 and Campers will participate in games, sports, crafts, nature activities, horseback riding, swimming and more! You may choose to attend day camp for one week or any combination of weeks. Monday-Friday - 9:00 am-4:00 pm After-care is available until 6:00 pm. Member: $20/week Non member: $30/week One time non-refundable registration fee: $25/child - includes t-shirt. 15 Shooting Sports Camp (10-15 years) This camp includes archery, riflery and tomahawks. It starts with safety and basic techniques, then progresses to advanced techniques and shooting competitions. Campers will also participate in typical camp activities such as horseback riding, hiking, swimming, naturalist program, arts, crafts and games. Member: $215/wk Non member: $235/wk Nature Buddies (6-7 years) Children will learn about the world around them through games, art and activities focusing on friendships and Mother Nature. Your camper will explore nature along the camp trails in the great outdoors. Nature Buddies do not experience all the same activities as older campers, such as horseback riding. Member: $195/wk Non member: $215/wk Wilderness Pals (8-12 years) Children will explore the outdoor wilderness by hiking, learning about animals, and developing outdoor survival skills. Campers will challenge themselves by gaining an understanding of teamwork, build mutual trust and increase selfesteem. Pals will also participate in typical camp activities such as horseback riding, hiking, swimming, naturalist program, arts, crafts and games. Member: $195/wk Non member: $215/wk Riders (8-12 years) This camp is designed for children who have limited or no riding experience but a love of horses. Campers will ride horses four times each week and learn saddling, horse care and horsemanship. Riders will also participate in typical camp activities such as hiking, swimming, naturalist program, arts, crafts and games.
