1 How to read the Frames Standards Correlations The Frames Standards Correlations include information on how you and your students can use Frames to meet your curriculum and technology standards. Since you can meet each standard in a variety of ways, next to each standard you will see columns for and Lessons. The are suggestions for projects that correspond to work you are already doing in the classroom. The Frames Task describes ways you can use Frames to foster student learning of this standard. 1

2 Physical Science SPS1 Students will investigate our current understanding of the atom. Students will create an animated comic showcasing our current understanding of the atom. SPS3 Students will distinguish the characteristics and components of radioactivity. d. Describe nuclear energy, its practical application as an alternative energy source, and its potential problems. SPS10 Students will investigate the properties of electricity and magnetism. Students will create a animated newscast on the properties of electricity and magnetism. 2

3 Number Microbiology Georgia Performance Standards: Science Grades 9 12 Standards of Learning SMI1 Students will analyze different types of microorganisms and their defining characteristics. Students will create a video journal from the viewpoint of a particular microorganism defining its characteristics as well distinguishing its difference from others. SMI4 Students will investigate molecular mechanisms involved in gene expression in microbes. c. Describe how genetic information is transferred between cells. Students will create an instructional video on how genetic information is transferred between cells. SMI5 Students will compare and contrast parameters affecting microbial growth, ways of controlling growth of microorganisms, and examine the effects that... Students will create an animated talk show comparing and contrasting parameters affecting microbial growth, ways of controlling growth of microorganisms, and examine the effects that physicochemical factors can have on microbes. SMI6 Students will analyze the impact of microorganisms in the environment and the use of microbes in biotechnology, agriculture, and industry. Students will create an animation from the viewpoint of a farmer on the impact of microorganisms in the environment and the use of microbes in agriculture. SMI7 Students will analyze symbiotic and pathogenic relationships in host-microbe interactions. Students will create an animation from the viewpoint of a therapist working with patients, symbiotic and pathogenic, on their relationship. Meteorology SM1 Students will relate the formation, structure and composition of Earth s atmosphere to the processes that cause weather.
