12 12 Post-graduate course for agricultural consultants Trading in fertilizers and crop protection chemicals in sustainable agriculture The project is designed to educate specialists in the latest integrated plant production technologies and agricultural market trends, thus combining chemical product distribution with consultancy on their efficient and safe application. Course components: Integrated crop production Plant protection consultancy Plant nutrition consultancy Agricultural economics and marketing Practical training in fertilizer application and plant protection 1st edition 2012/2013 2nd edition 2014/2015 A number of post-graduate programmes have been launched so far, following the curriculum designed by the Grupa Azoty Group in collaboration with Maria Curie- Sklodowska University of Lublin and Kraków University of Economics.

13 13 Agricultural consulting in Poland proposed solutions Poland's farm advisory system should not be designed for the sole purpose of accommodating EU funding, but should rather establish a framework for providing knowledge support to Polish agricultural producers. EU-regulated rules of the game should not be taken as a substitute for the rules governing the agricultural consulting market. Advisory services cannot be detached from other components of the agricultural education system and business model directed at farmers. An effective farm advisory system: should encourage Polish providers of farm advisory services to be efficient, effective and responsible for results, as well as to continually improve their tools and techniques for communicating with customers.

14 14 Annual Science Business Agriculture Conference Science Business Agriculture conferences provide a meeting venue for scientists, industry representatives and agricultural producers The purpose of the conference is to facilitate the exchange of experience between researchers and participants of the agricultural market, provide an opportunity to network with distributors and agricultural producers, forge partnerships, and develop cooperation with agriculture-oriented scientific institutions. Areas of interest: different aspects of sustainable agriculture, food security, and research into agriculture and food quality; presenting and promoting knowledge collected by the Centre The conference is held under the auspices of Fertilizers Europe and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development The conference saw its third edition in November 2013, again attracting a crowd of more than 200.

15 15 Sustainable fertilizer management according the PUŁAWY Competence Centre The Competence Centre Puławy implements educational initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable fertilizer management among farmers, which is taken to entail informed nutrient management at field, farm, country, and regional levels to ensure efficient use of the nutrients as a means of achieving optimum agricultural output while protecting soil and water. We emphasise the need to reconcile economics and production with environmental care in fertilizer management. We educate farmers not only about the effect of fertilizer management on agricultural production viability, but also about its impact on the natural environment. We promote good agricultural practices to optimise the application process and limit nitrogen and phosphorous leaching from agricultural soils into water.

16 16 AZOMAIS a new fertilizer product Low-cost and environmentally-safe corn fertilizing and sowing system' The project's objectives are to develop an innovative corn sowing and fertilizing technique and to design a formula of a specialist fertilizer for use in growing corn, as well as a device for simultaneous sowing of seeds and fertilizer application. The project will result in the development of a 'Corn Package', which includes growing instructions, a specialist fertilizer, and a cultivator for simultaneous sowing and fertilizing.
