2 Introduction Familiarization of major components and nomenclature

3 Getting Started Press down the master switch to the ignition position.

4 Start the engine and verify the parking brake is applied.

5 Turn on the wheelchair power switch.

6 Verify the wheelchair icon is visible on the dash display.

7 After verification of the wheel chair icon on the dash display, slide open the upper and lower wheel chair access doors. After the doors are open, verify: Flashers are on Alarm is beeping Threshold light is on

8 Verify both lights shown are on when the wheel chair lift is ready for use. Power for both lights comes from the power circuit board. If the lights are not on, there is a high probability the fuse on the power board is blown or missing power. Ensure the push button circuit breaker is not tripped.

9 NOTE: It is recommended by ABC Companies that the operator change the fuse from a 7.5 amp fuse to a 5 amp fuse to better protect the board. Check power at fuse located in lower right corner of the circuit board under the following conditions: Coach is running Wheel chair switch is on Both doors are open If there is power through the fuse, the board LEDs should be illuminated (~6 LEDs). The two lights mentioned earlier should also be activated. If lights are not active, remove the board and look for any dark spots on the backside indicating a burned circuit.

10 If there is no power to the fuse on the circuit board check for power on the large red cable originating or located at the bottom of the pump. Power comes from a 100 amp fuse listed as Z05. Consult the wiring schematic for the fuse location. Verify the ground cable on the top of the pump is secure. Ground cable is bolted to the pump motor. Red power cable is routed up from the bottom of the compartment to the power stud on the pump motor.

11 If the flashers don t come on when the doors are open, or if they do not turn off when the doors are closed, there is a high probability the problem originates at the proximity switches. Each door utilizes a proximity switch, the coach mounted device or portion of the device or mechanism is the switch and the door mounted half is the magnet. Verify each are in place and aligned when the doors are closed. Shown below are the two portions of the proximity switch for the lower door.

12 Ricon Wheelchair Lift Operation If the wheel chair doesn t operate correctly after you have confirmed the circuit board is operating properly, you will need to consult the troubleshooting steps listed in the Ricon manual. The pinpoint test will direct you to verify the proper LEDs are on and will guide you to the sensors that are used in the function you are troubleshooting. The Ricon Baylift SSBF-DOT-Public Use Lift service manual can be downloaded at Riconcorp.com, or you can contact ABC Customer Care for a copy of the manual that can be ed to you.

13 Control Circuit Board The electronic control circuit board logic controller and push buttons coordinate the various functions of the lift. A series of LED indicators are used to indicate which function activity is being performed. These lights can be used to diagnose and troubleshoot the operation of the lift. There are two types of boards used. The latest model or version style is shown on the left.

14 Listed below is a sampling of the pinpoint tests listed in the service manual. The systems is dependent upon the function that is diagnosed which then determines the LED to switch and inspect. The LEDs shown in the chart below are for the newest circuit board. When you are troubleshooting the older style board, it may be necessary to contact ABC CustomerCare for the LED cross reference chart.

15 When following the pinpoint tests it may be necessary to manually extend, lower, raise or retract the lift. Follow the instructions listed for the manual over-ride valves and use the manual jacking lever shown on the left. The T-shaped valve shown on the right is rotated counter-clockwise to exhaust the lift fluid. Hydraulic fluid is recommended in the Ricon lift.
