The North West passage was a route between Europe and Asia people were looking for the northwest passage because what ever country who found it first would get great riches and spices. The explorers tried to go through the Americas. The explorers also tried to go around the Americas. The search was in the 1500s 2.Why did France go to the Americas? The French King was one of the people that wanted to find the north west passage, which was through North America In 1514 he sent Giovanni da verrazano to find it Giovanni da Verrazano set out in 1524 he landed in march on what today is North Carolina He met different American tribs some tribes were not very friendly 3. What was the Hudson s Voyages? Henry Hudson was a paid explorer. On his first voyages he landed on island east of Greenland He was trying to find the north west passage, he failed he was paid by The Dutch East India company for is third voyage on his third voyage he named a river after himself, The Hudson River and claimed in entire river was for the Dutch rulers. 4.Why did Hudson's last voyage end in mutiny? He was set at drift with 8 other men because he forced them through a sea of ice. Hudson's last voyage ended in mutiny because he

There were stories that there was a Northwest Passage that could be followed to Asia. 2.It was said whatever country controlled this trade route could start a large new empire. 3. Who were Verrazano and Cartier? 3. In 1524 the French king sent an explorer named Giovanni De Verrazano to find the Northwest passage through North America. 3. Verrazano set sail in January 1524, he landed on the coast of what is now called North Carolina in early March. 4. Why were the French in North America? 4.Along his rote he found lots of Native Americans some were friendly and some weren't. 4.Verrazano did not go further north than Newfoundland. 4. He made two more trips but found no passage 4. In 1534 king Francis sent Jacques Cartier to search for gold and the Northwest Passage. 4. On his first voyage, he discovered the St. Lawrence River and on his second he traveled up it but was forced to turn back because of rapids. 4.In the end Cartier never discovered a good route to Cathay but after his voyages other explorers knew more about North America.

The French King, one of the many Europeans rulers, wanted to find the North West Passage. So he sent,verrazano, an Italian sailor to find it. He sailed out on He landed on the coast of what is now North Carolina. He landed in early march. Jacques Cartier was a french navigator.king Francis sent Jacques Cartier to look for the Northwe d not pass the river rapids so he turned back. Cartier went to the St. Lawrence River again in 1541 but did not find the Northwest Passage. Trying to bring back gold to the king Cartier sailed up the river what is now Quebec. What were Hudsonson s Voyages? By the 1600 s exploring was a big thing to do. The kings and queens were no longer paying for the expeditions. The Europeans trading companies sent explorers to search for the North Passage. An English explorer named Henry Hudson went on for voyages to search for the north west passage. A company in England paid for two of the expeditions that Henry went on. Henry s first voyage was in 1608 and he reached an island east of Greenland. Next, he sailed north to the Arctic Ocean and failed to find the North west passage. The dutch paid for his third expedition and Henry spent a month exploring a river what is now New York and named it after his self and claimed entire place for the dutch. European trading companies also began sending explorers to look for the North West Passag e. They wanted to set up trade routes. Hudson spent a month exploring a river in what is now called New York. He named the river after himself and claimed the Hudson River for the rulers of Dutch. In What voyage ends in mutiny In 1610 a English company paid for Hudson's last voyage he took. Hudson sailed along the Northern coast along north America to the bay that is his name Hudson Bay. In November Hudson s ship got frozen in the ice. After the cold winter and much were
5 suffering from the cold. His crew mutinied they sent Hudson away with eight crew members away in a small boat. They were never seen again.
