Emerald City Theatre School Summer Camp: Developing Creativity, Confidence, and Craft CHICAGO Emerald City Theatre School continues its award-winning Summer Camp in 2013 with increased offerings for advanced students as well as plenty of options for beginners to dive into theatre. With offerings for kids from 3.5 to 13 years old from the beginning of June through the end of August, Emerald City Summer Camp focuses on ensemble in addition to acting, singing, and dancing so each camper will become a part of a team to put on a final show on the last day of camp. New in 2013, Emerald City is offering an Advanced Ensemble Camp, which allows older campers (ages 9-13) to take their experience to the next level. With a master class, Broadway in Chicago show, and backstage tour, campers will gain insight into the world of professional theatre while rehearsing their own production of the classic musical, FAME. There are camps tailored to all ages and skill levels halfday sessions for one week serve the youngest campers, ages 3.5-5, with themes from Superheroes to Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy. For the 5-6 year-olds, campers will explore classic musicals like The Aristocats, The Lion King, and Cinderella for full-day camps that span two weeks. 7-9 and 9-13 year old campers, will be putting on productions inspired by School House Rock, Tangled, Shrek, Annie, and other contemporary classics, in full-day two-week sessions. All Emerald City Summer Camps culminate in a final show, where family and friends are invited to see what campers have created over the session. 3 Camps for 7-9 and 9-13 year olds Cost: $750/session Final performance on the last day of class! 7-13 Year Old Camps Overview: Use formal stage skills, teamwork, imagination, songs and choreography to build the final presentation. Strengthen character development, musical performance, movement and risk taking skills. Cost: $900/session Final Performance Tickets will be $10/person. Advanced Ensemble Camp Overview: All students must complete an on-line application and will be admitted based on experience. Vocal technique, scene study and choreography rehearsals as an ensemble with a professional director. Building on advanced theatrical skills; reading sheet music, learning harmonies, character development, and use of intentions and subtext. Students attend a Broadway in Chicago show, and get a backstage tour of a Broadway in Chicago Theatre Emerald City Theatre Summer Camp 2013 Page 3 of 3
4 Ticketed performance of Fame on final day of camp. Tickets are $10 each. Date Camp Age July FAME 9 to 13 Enrollment and Payment Policies Registration is currently open! Call or visit to enroll Emerald City has the right to cancel a class one week prior to the start date. Refunds will be processed if a class is cancelled. After February 1st, 2013, no refunds will be available if purchaser drops a class unless the spot can be filled from the waiting list. If a spot can be filled, a refund less an administrative fee will be applied. Switch Fee: After February 1st, 2013, switching of dates/titles of camp will also incur an administrative fee. Grace Period: There will be NO FEE charged for cancellations or class switches made prior to February 1st, About Emerald City Theatre Named the 2009 and 2010 Nickelodeon Parents Pick Award for Best Theater Group for Kids, Emerald City creates theatre experiences that inspire early learners through play.
