2 Here to help. Our hall staff plan activities to help bring everyone together. And since life doesn t always go as planned, our team can help. Resident Advisors (RAs) live on each floor so there s always someone to turn to, and our master s-level professional Residence Directors (RDs) live on campus and work hard to make you feel at home. Their goal is to help you learn, live, and grow educationally, culturally, and socially. usciences.edu/reslife We guarantee a place for you in University housing if: Your housing security deposit of $200 and your housing agreement are received by the Department of Student Life by May 1. You ve made your enrollment reservation deposit to the Admission Office. You meet all financial requirements provided in your billing statement, which is mailed in June.

You ll learn more about yourself, discover new people and interests, and move into a new world filled with diversity, challenges, and opportunities. Get connected. The benefits of living on-campus are great! You will: know people sooner become acquainted with the campus and the surrounding community get involved in campus activities Studies have shown that students who live in campus housing graduate at a higher rate than non-residents. Roommate information will arrive via by the end of July so you can connect with the people you ll be living with before school starts. Transferring? If you re a student who s coming from another school or you re an older student who s delayed entering college several years, you have a few options. You can live on campus and get all the benefits of the residential experience. Or if you would rather live off campus, the Department of Student Life can help you find housing choices that are right for you.

4 Room to Grow Did you know that living in campus housing eases the adjustment into college and increases the graduation rate? This is why USciences requires all first- and second-year students under the age of 21 whose permanent address at the time of their enrollment deposit is beyond a 30-mile radius of campus to live in University housing. As a first-year student, living on campus requires a full, two academic year commitment. All on-campus housing have rooms and/or suites that are fully furnished with their own air-conditioning and heating units. Each resident is provided a bed, dresser, desk, chair, and closet/wardrobe in their room. Each residence hall also provides plenty of room to study with: computer labs laundry facilities TV lounges game rooms GOODMAN HALL houses 350 first-year students. Each furnished room is designed for two or three students. Each floor has two group bathroom facilities, and two private bathrooms with tubs and showers. As a Goodman resident, you are required to participate in the dining program. OSOL HALL houses 200 second-year students and is designed around suite-style living. Each furnished suite accommodates nine students and contains four bedrooms, a living/dining area, a kitchen, and bathroom. As an Osol resident, you are required to participate in the dining program.

5 WILSON HALL houses 90 first-, second-, and thirdyear, high-achieving students. Each furnished room is designed for two students. Each floor has two group bathroom facilities, one private bathroom with a tub and shower, and a small efficiency kitchen for snack preparation. As a resident in Wilson, you are required to participate in the dining program. ALEXANDRIA HALL houses 75 upperclass students in apartment units. Apartments are furnished and are designed to help prepare students to live off campus. Residents of these apartment communities can either prepare their own meals or participate in the dining program. usciences.edu/reshalls What About My Roommate? To ease the transition to USciences, first-year students may submit housing and roommate preferences. While we cannot guarantee that all requests will be honored, we will exhaust all efforts to accommodate students according to our housing availability. The incoming student housing and roommate online request form will be available in the spring. Prior to submitting the form, students must pay USciences required tuition and housing deposits.

6 Live and Learn Well Residence Life continues its newest themed floor: the Health and Wellness Learning Community. This co-ed floor in Goodman Hall is exclusive to firstyear students of any major; the only requirement is that all residents share a common interest in their personal and collective wellness. You can choose the Health and Wellness Learning Community via the request form that will be available in the spring. We help you take a balanced approach to college; connect with neighbors, staff, and faculty of similar interests; and provide motivation to maintain a health-conscious lifestyle. Exclusive events include: Healthy cooking demonstrations by the University s chef Trips to Philadelphia theater and arts performances Intramural sports team membership Yoga and meditation classes in the hall Volunteer opportunities during breaks Trips to Drexel s climbing wall, UPenn s dance classes, ice skating at Penn s Landing Saturday visits to the Clark Park Farmer s Market Personalized fitness orientations at the Athletic/Recreation Center (ARC) Massages before final exams Pet therapy in the hall Exercise, Relax, and Recharge Relieve stress by participating in one of the group fitness classes, lifting weights, or joining one of our intramural teams. Catch an NCAA Division II basketball game or volleyball match. Or just hang out and have some fun playing pool or ping pong. 7 Good Food Fast Our Dining Services, operated by Sodexo, uses fresh and locally grown or produced foods. Our executive chef and dining staff can also prepare meals that meet your dietary and special needs because of food restrictions and allergies. First-year students housed on campus are required to be on a meal plan. There are several meal plans from which to choose. The Wilson Dining Hall features à la carte weekday lunch service, all-you-careto-eat breakfast and dinner service, and weekend all-you-care-to-eat brunch and dinner service. You can also visit one of the retail food service locations on campus: Wilson Express features a selection of ready-to-go items The Coffee Lab, located in McNeil STC, features great coffees and desserts Starbucks, located right on our campus, features Seattle s Best coffees, teas, other specialty drinks, and snacks. Tasty Drake s, conveniently located on our campus, is a one-stop shop for quick bites and drinks, spiritwear, and last-minute personal items. usciences.edu/dining IMPORTANT Info to Know MAIL: Full mail services are available for sending mail and packages, receiving larger packages, and purchasing stamps from the mailroom in Griffith Hall. Mailboxes are provided for residents. SAFETY AND SECURITY: A desk attendant or public safety officer monitors access to the residences halls. The Department of Public Safety also utilizes a state-ofthe-art access control system, alarm system, and CCTV system as a deterrent throughout the campus. TRANSIT SERVICES: The campus shuttle service provides transportation to and from various locations on and off campus from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Individuals can also request a walking escort to various locations on campus and across University City 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
