7 Alternators Advanced Charging Technology Features and Benefits External Heat Dissipating Regulator is mounted on the back of the unit -- directly in the stream of air that is pulled into the alternator to cool it. This position, in combination with the regulator s heat sink design, allows it to stay cooler and dissipate heat quicker than internally-mounted regulators. Self Protection Regulator regulators equipped with the exclusive self protection technology automatically begin to reduce voltage output when underhood temperatures exceed 125 C, and allows output to return to normal levels when the temperature drops below 125 C.
