13 District heating energy price Business principles District heating energy price is based on the customers alternative energy price which normally is the price for electric power and/or oil. Business principle for district heating District heating delivers energy services to a free market in competition with other energy sources. District heating concession It requires a district heating concession for operating district heating plants above 10 MW. New buildings within the area licensed for district heating must install a waterbased heating system. Trondheim has chosen a minimum size of 500 sqm for buildings with installation requirements. The district heating concession limit the district heating energy price to the price for electric power in the same area.. Existing buildings are not affected by the district heating concession.
