1 East End Farmstands With some of the most fertile soil in the United States, Long Island farmers offer an agricultural diversity that few other regions in the country can match. Buy Local. Buy Grown on Long Island. Photo: Brooks Kraft; 2007 Thank you for supporting local agriculture on the East End. Your support of local farmers has a direct impact on the future of Long Island s farming community. To learn more about land conservation, please visit the Trust s website The Peconic Land Trust conserves Long Island s working farms, natural lands, and heritage for our communities now and in the future.
2 Peconic Land Trust s Map of North and South Fork Farmstands
3 Meet Your Local Farmer The East End s farmers offer some of the finest fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and food products in the country. Our agricultural community is a key component of what makes the East End such a wonderful place to live and visit. We hope that all of us who live here or visit the area will connect with a local farmer in the same way that we connect with our local doctor, mechanic, pharmacist or other service provider. Spend time at their farmstand, learn about why and how farmers do what they do, and then bring home their tasty, fresh, and healthy produce. Connecting with a local farmer can be a wonderful experience for everyone and is key to ensuring the future of agriculture on Long Island. The map we have prepared is a living a document. The Trust will continue to update it -- adding new farmstands, updating information on hours and products, and other new information and details over time. Check back often to see how the East End s agricultural market changes and evolves. About the Peconic Land Trust Founded in 1983, the Peconic Land Trust conserves Long Island s working farms, natural lands, and heritage for our communities now and in the future. Working with landowners, communities, and local government, the Trust has conserved over 8,600 acres of land including over 5,000 acres of working farms in the last 24 years. Photo: Linda Burke; 2007
