How did Marseilles evolve on a historical and geographical viewpoint since Antiquity until 18 century?

It's a map showing the trip of Phocean who created Massilia

Massilia was colonised by a Greek city, Phocée, who was running out of territories and where inhabitants are fleeing war and poverty. Once colonised by Phoceans, Massilia created other colonies around 600 BC which are situated on the Mediterranean coastline, like Nice, which was called Nikaïa, and Hyeres, which was called Olbia. The ancient Greece and Roman city:

Colonisation of Massilia To show its independence, Massilia created its own money at the image of Artemis, the protecting godess of the city. Greeks landed in six hundred BC and etablished their faith by building temples. They devoloped the great harbor of the city in Massilia downtown to improve their trade of iron and ceramic and spread their money with their colonies and its imposing commerce thanks to the harbor. 5 The golden age of Marseilles in XVII century: Louis XIV and Colbert, drawn by Charles le Brun in 1667.

After subding Marseilles, the French king Louis XIV started to enlarge the city. For the first time since its creation, Marseille exceeded the walls of the city. In 1670, a minister called Colbert arrived in Marseille and started to extend the city. At the end, the city was twice bigger than Paris.

At the XVII century : In 16 85, a law forbade the landing of goods from the middle East in a different harbors of Marseilles. Marseilles got the monopoly of these goods. Marseilles have the oldest room of trade of France, which was created in It controled the trade with middle East and barbarity.

The plague in Marseilles in 1720, painting of Michel Serre. It was the deadliest plague in the story of the town. The epidemic started to spread from the harbor and in the city. It killed around persons, that is to say half of the population of the city. Then, it spread in Provence, where it killed people.
