1 Packaging Wine To help maintain product integrity and reduce the risk of breakage, follow these instructions for packaging and shipping via FedEx Express services. Special arrangements are required for wine shipments. Please contact your FedEx account executive for more information.

2 Recommended Packaging Options This brochure will help you pack your wine shipments. General Guidelines Secure contents inside the shipping container by observing the guidelines in this document. Because directional arrows cannot always be honoured, wine bottles may be shipped in different orientations. Place your shipping label on the top of the box to increase the chance of shipment in the preferred orientation. Make sure your shipments comply with any applicable laws governing the shipment of wine or alcohol.

3 Preferred Packaging Polystyrene inner packaging with corrugated outer container Pre-Moulded Polystyrene Glass Bottle Shippers Pre-moulded Polystyrene Glass Bottle Shippers provide maximum inner protection for different type and shaped glass bottles. All Polystyrene packaging must be shipped inside an appropriate size outer corrugated box with all closure flaps sealed securely top and bottom with pressure sensitive tape. Two-piece moulded polystyrene inner packaging shipped with #275 BC flute double wall corrugated outer container.

4 Acceptable Packaging Moulded pulp or die-cut corrugated inner packaging with corrugated outer container. Pre-Moulded Pulp Glass Bottle Shippers Moulded pulp packaging should be pre-shipment tested by manufacturer to meet ISTA or FedEx test procedure requirements. Die-cut Corrugated Inner Packaging Die-cut corrugated container assemblies should be constructed using a minimum of double-wall #275 BC corrugated material and reinforced to withstand distribution system handling. Die-cut corrugated packaging should be pre-shipment tested by manufacturer to meet ISTA or FedEx test procedure requirements. All moulded pulp or die-cut corrugated inner components must fit snugly inside an appropriate size outer corrugated box with all closure flaps sealed securely top and bottom with pressure sensitive tape. 5 Unacceptable Packaging While the following packaging methods may occasionally provide adequate product protection, the level of protection can vary based on how the shipment is packed or the protective materials can shift during transit compromising the level of protection. Therefore, these methods are not recommended for use when shipping by FedEx Express. Corrugated partition used in conjunction with a corrugated outer container Expanded polystyrene peanuts in corrugated outer container Bottles in corrugated outer container separated by wadded paper Bottles wrapped in Bubble Wrap then placed in a corrugated outer container Single or double-walled corrugated or fibreboard partitions allow adjacent containers to contact each other. This shipment method is not recommended. Loose fill may settle in-transit and allow glass to touch glass or the outside of the outer box and contribute to damage. Paper can compress due to internal movement of contents and allow glass containers to become unstable. Bubble Wrap is not recommended, however, when used properly, may provide effective results. Bubble Wrap cushioning requires a minimum of 2 of material around sides, top and bottom of bottles. Special attention must be paid to lock Bubble Wrap securely to contents and add extra void fill when necessary.
