This guidace cosolidates good cotrol practice ad reiforces existig kowledge with additioal iformatio. Cotrol approach 4 Specialist advice What this sheet covers This sheet describes good practice for storage, maiteace ad distributio of potable water. The water may be bukered or made o board the offshore istallatio. Cotrol procedures 3 Work with potable water requires scrupulous persoal hygiee to prevet cotamiatio of the water system. Bukerig 3 Flush bukerig hoses with fresh water before bukerig. After use, the hose should be draied ad capped. 3 Disifect bukerig hoses at six-moth itervals (three-mothly itervals if bukerig ifrequetly) ad replace i accordace with maufacturers recommedatios.

This may eed persoal protective equipmet (PPE). Maiteace 3 Care must be take i cleaig water systems to prevet ihalatio of potetially cotamiated aerosols, eg use of appropriate respiratory protective equipmet (RPE). Persoal protective equipmet (PPE) see OCM3 3 Esure that all items of PPE are compatible. Respiratory protective equipmet (RPE) see OCM4 3 Provide air-fed CE-marked RPE with a assiged protectio factor of at least 40 for tak cleaig, or cylider breathig apparatus (BA) if oxyge levels could be depleted. 3 Where ecessary, provide CE-marked RPE with a assiged protectio factor of at least 10 ad a chlorie filter, for work with hypochlorite. Other protective equipmet 3 Provide protective coveralls, gautlets ad goggles for cleaig ad for work with hypochlorite. Esure coveralls have fire retardat properties. 3 Dispose of used coveralls before every break. Examiatio ad testig Moitorig potable water O arrival: bukered water (biocide cocetratio ppm). Daily: biocide levels i accommodatio (at least two samples cocetratio ppm). Mothly: water temperatures at setiel taps (cold below 20 o C after 2 miutes; hot above 50 o C withi 1 miute). Mothly: calorifier flow ad retur water temperatures (flow at least 60 o C ad retur at least 50 o C). Biaually: cold water storage temperatures (preferably always below 20 o C). Quarterly: bacteriological aalysis. Quarterly: chemical aalysis. Aually: visual ispectio of cold water storage taks. RPE 3 Examie ad test RPE thoroughly at least mothly ad ifrequetly used RPE at least three mothly. Replace wor parts. 3 Check the airflow ad air quality to air-fed RPE at least oce every three moths, or before use. Check i-lie filters. 3 Esure that breathable air compressors take i clea air. Records 3 Keep records of all examiatios ad tests for at least five years. Cleaig ad housekeepig 3 Follow the defied procedures ad schedules for cleaig ad disifectig the potable water system. Iclude ay UV sterilisig equipmet. 3 Clear up spills immediately. Use protective gloves. You may also eed RPE. Persoal decotamiatio ad ski care 3 Provide mild ski cleasers, ailbrushes, gloves ad soft paper towels for dryig. Avoid abrasive cleasers. 3 Replace ailbrushes regularly. 3 Istruct workers i how to clea their ski effectively. 3 Report all illesses. 3 Provide pre-work ski creams, which will make it easier to wash dirt from the ski, ad after-work creams to replace ski oils.
