2 65 th ANNIVERSARY LIBERATION OF HOLLAND Arnhem Groesbeek Nijmegen Holten Bergen Keukenhof Apeldoorn May 2-10, 2010 (9 days) Day 1 Sunday, May 2 CANADA Amsterdam Departure from Canada for Amsterdam. Day 2 Monday, May 3 ARRIVE AMSTERDAM ARNHEM After arrival we take a drive to the city centre of Amsterdam for a short orientation tour, then we travel to Central Holland where we check into our hotel and there is a bit of time to relax before dinner. Day 3 Tuesday, May 4 ARNHEM GROESBEEK NIJMEGEN ARNHEM On today s agenda is the official Remembrance ceremony at Groesbeek Cemetery. Later we head to Nijmegen and Arnhem (location of the famous John Frost Bridge, of the movie A Bridge Too Far ) and then visit the nearby Airborne Museum of Oosterbeek dedicated to operation Market Garden. Day 4 Wednesday, May 5 ARNHEM HOLTEN DEVENTER ZWOLLE ARNHEM Today we participate in the Remembrance ceremony at the Canadian Cemetery at Holten, then visit nearby Deventer and Zwolle. After a short drive to the Ijsselmeer (which illustrates the situation with reclaimed lands that is so particular to this country) we ll return to home base in time for dinner. Day 5 Thursday, May 6 ARNHEM IJSSELSTEIN ARNHEM We participate at the parade and ceremonies of Ijsselstein, a charming town near Utrecht, during which the town will commemorate the freedom it regained 65 years ago with the help of Canadian soldiers. We re sure to enjoy meeting the locals during the special festivities before returning to Arnhem in time for dinner. Day 6 Friday, May 7 ARNHEM GERMANY ARNHEM This morning we drive to Germany to visit the Hochwald / Kleve area and the Reichswald Forest Cemetery, the largest WWII Commonwealth cemetery (708 of whom are Canadian airmen), before returning to our hotel for dinner.

3 Day 7 Saturday, May 8 ARNHEM BERGEN KEUKENHOF ARNHEM We travel south to the Bergen op Zoom Canadian Cemetery, then take a drive through the fascinating Scheldt area, which was partly flooded during the war. Then we ll turn north, passing The Hague en route to the wonderful gardens of Keukenhof, where we should be in season to experience the full glory of tulip fields in bloom, before we return to our hotel. Day 8 Sunday, May 9 ARNHEM APELDOORN ARNHEM Today is a special day as we will join the Included: Air fare from Canada to Amsterdam and return. Private bus and guide throughout. Day 9 Monday, May 10 ARNHEM AMSTERDAM - CANADA This morning we travel to the airport of Amsterdam for our flight home. Important: The program for the time in Holland will be adjusted to fit the local events and official ceremonies commemorating the 65 th Anniversary of the Liberation. Not included: Lunches. Day 2 Wednesday, April 28 ARRIVE London After arrival we give you a chance to stretch your legs (depending on arrival time of your flight) and then check into our hotel in the early afternoon, so there is time to relax and rest up before dinner. Day 3 Thursday, April 29 London We start the morning with a city tour, including the most famous sites: from St. Paul s Cathedral, to Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and of course Buckingham Palace. Then we ll lunch at the Imperial War Museum and you ll have time to visit during the afternoon, or take off on your own to enjoy sights of the city at your leisure. Dinner is at the hotel. Day 4 Friday, April 30 LONDON DOVER CALAIS DUNQUERQUE OOSTENDE IEPER After crossing the channel we visit the war cemetery in Calais, then travel up the Atlantic Coast. En route we ll be able to see some of the remnants of the famous Atlantic Wall, and then via Oostende we ll head to Ieper, check-in and dine. Day 5 Saturday, May 1 IEPER Today we visit the surroundings of Ieper, site of WWI s first gas attacks. You cannot turn your head in the Ypres area without seeing a war cemetery somewhere on the horizon, indicative of the horrors these parts saw. We will visit the Hill 62 Monument, Tyne Cot Cemetery (with 45,000 graves) as well as the German cemetery at Langemark with its 44,000 graves, the St. Julian Canadian Monument with Vancouver Corner and John McCrae s monument and field station before returning to Ypres where we participate at the daily Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate. Between our visits today you ll have some time for lunch and exploration on your own in Ieper itself.

5 Day 6 Sunday, May 2 IEPER ADEGEM LEOPOLD CANAL BRUGES IEPER This morning we visit the Canadian Museum at Maldegem, where we ll also partake of a light lunch. Then we drive to the Canadian Cemetery at Adegem and explore the Leopold Canal area. On our return we ll drive to Bruges for a coffee stop and a chance to walk through the historic town, then return to Ieper for dinner. Day 7 Monday, May 3 IEPER GHENT ANTWERP ARNHEM We visit historic Ghent and then continue on to Antwerp, both an important harbour and centre of the diamond industry. Then we re off to Central Holland, where we ll check into our hotel in Arnhem. 7 FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT: A deposit of $ 400 per person is required at the time of making a reservation on this Special Travel International (hereafter called STI) tour. This deposit is credited toward the full cost of your tour and the balance is due in a final payment 2 months prior to departure. Travel documents will be sent to you approximately 14 days prior to your trip departure, provided full payment has been received. TOUR PRICES: All tour prices for land arrangements are based on rates effective at the time of printing and are expected to be in effect at the time of departure. Should these rates change, it may be necessary to surcharge the price of your vacation. Should the tour price increase by more than 10%, the passenger shall have the right to cancel within seven days of notification without penalty. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS: Notice of cancellation must be made in writing. The effective cancellation date is the date when written notification is received by STI. The deposit is non-refundable. STI shall not be responsible or liable for any loss, cost, damage, injury, delay or expense arising from the use of any conveyance, INSURANCE PREMIUMS The following are the main areas of coverage; for the full details (and we advise you to read them carefully), refer to the brochure that you will receive after booking. It is key to note that this coverage is based on the average person of good health. Please note that pre-existing conditions are not covered. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable for the comfort of the passenger, or for any reason whatsoever, to alter the itinerary or arrangements, such alterations may be made without penalty to the operators. Additional expense, if any, shall be borne by the passenger. The right is reserved to withdraw any or all tours should conditions warrant, and also to decline to accept or retain any passenger as a member of the tour. In such instances, full or equitable amounts will be refunded. INSURANCE: STI recommends that each tour participant has health, cancellation, interruption, accident and baggage insurance for the duration of his/her travel (in all situations where insurance is not included in the tour price). TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: It is entirely the passenger s responsibility to possess whatever documents and VISAs are required by the law of the countries visited on the tour. AIRLINE RESPONSIBILITY: Any airliner carrier providing transportation in connection with these tours is not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time the passenger is not on board its planes or conveyances. The passenger contract in use by the airlines concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the airline and the purchase of these tours and/or passenger. Similar responsibility as noted applies to all types of carriers, including car rental companies. If you wish you may also choose the Cancellation & Interruption insurance alone; this plan is suitable if you have sufficient medical coverage already.
