2 PATHWAY - BOYS County 1 Squad per age group 15 players per age group u11-u15 Players nominated by Regional head coaches - following regional match week Regional Academy (July-Aug) 5 Regions 75 players across two age groups u10, u12 & u14 (this also includes u9, u11 & u13) Players nominated by Borough coaches - end June Borough Cricket (Apr-Jun) 12 Boroughs 180 players across two age groups u10, u12 & u14 (this also includes u9, u11 & u13) Nominations sent out to all clubs and schools by MCB CDO - Feb Completed nominations sent to Borough Personnel - beginning March Clubs and Schools players per age group Selection Criteria Each player can successfully execute the following skills by the age group defined: BATTING: By 13 Displays the ability to hit the bowler s best delivery down the ground off of the back and front foot; Can play a pull shot from a seam bowler at belly button height; Can play a hard sweep shot with and against the spin from a good length spinning ball; Can play a hard cut shot from a seam bowler at belly button height, and from a spin bowler with and against the spin By 16 Displays the ability to score from the bowler s best delivery down the ground off of the back and front foot; Can play a pull shot from a seam bowler at belly button and chest height; Can play a hard sweep shot and a paddle sweep shot with and against the spin from a good length spinning ball; play a hard cut shot from a seam bowler at belly button height, and from a spin bowler with and against the spin; Displays the mental and physical ability to bat for a period in excess of 3 hours FAST BOWLING: By 13 Displays 2 from the following 3 attributes, pace, bounce and swing; Can hit 2 identified lengths (hard length and full length) on demand; Can effectively bowl 1 controlled cutter slower ball; Displays the physical ability to bowl 2 high intensity spells per day in amongst other cricket activity By 16 Displays 2 from the following 3 attributes, pace, bounce and swing; Can hit 3 identified lengths (hard length, yorker and bouncer) on demand; Can effectively bowl 1 controlled cutter slower ball and 1 controlled magic slower ball; Displays the physical ability to bowl 3 high intensity spells per day in amongst other cricket activity SPIN BOWLING: By 13 Can hit 2 identified lengths (good length and full length) on demand; Can effectively implement a controlled change of pace By 16 - Can hit 2 identified lengths (good length and full length) on demand; Can effectively implement a controlled change of pace; Can effectively bowl a controlled spin variation WICKET KEEPERS: By 13 Can stand up to the stumps to most age group bowlers and retain a catch or take percentage of at least 75%; Displays the ability to catch at least 90% of throws from outfielders from a variety of positions; Displays the ability to bat in the top 6 in a county age group team By 16 Can stand up to the stumps to most age group bowlers and retain a catch or take percentage of at least 90%; Displays the ability to catch 100% of throws from outfielders from a variety of positions; Displays the ability to bat in the top 6 in a county age group team BENCHMARKS - BOYS

Displays the ability to run effectively between the wickets (call clearly, back up and judge runs). Can effectively execute two run scoring options (pull and front foot drive). By 13 Batters display the ability for their hands to clear their back hip over off stump in the step and swing phase (moving forward and back) to help generate power. Displays the ability to distinguish between deliveries to attack and defend. Can effectively execute three run scoring options (pull, sweep and front foot drive). By 15 Displays the mental, technical and physical capabilities to bat for 30 overs. Can effectively execute four run scoring options (cut, pull, sweep and front foot drive) By 19 Displays the mental, technical and physical capabilities to bat for 40 overs. Can effectively execute four run scoring options (cuts, pulls, sweep and front foot drive). Can effectively adapt to different forms of the game T20 v 50 overs. BOWLING: By 11 Displays a bowling technique that is aligned from their starting point into approach/run up, Jump and Gather, Back Foot Contact, Front Foot Contact Release and Follow Through. Displays the potential to bowl a full length at Off Stump 3 out of 6 balls. By 13 Displays the ability to effectively repeat their bowling action for a 5 over spell. Displays the potential to bowl a full length at Off Stump 4 out of 6 balls. By 15 Can consistently land 4 out of 6 deliveries in the bowlers own good area. Displays the ability to effectively repeat their bowling action for a 5 over spell. Can effectively set their own field for their good area deliveries. By 19 Can consistently land 5 out of 6 deliveries in the bowlers own good area. Can effectively adapt to bowl two different lengths, (good and full) at appropriate times in a game. Can effectively adapt to bowling at Right and Left Hander s. BENCHMARKS - GIRLS Clubs and Schools 500 players per age group FIELDING & WICKETKEEPING: By 11 Displays an effective and repeatable catching technique. Displays an effective method of moving forward and side to side to stop and catch. By 13 Displays an effective method of moving forward and back as well as side to side to stop and catch the ball. Has the potential to throw the ball back to the keeper on the full from the 25 yard circle. Wicketkeepers can effectively take 60% of balls during a match cleanly. By 15 Displays the required technique to field in 2 of the 3 areas (catching, inner ring and boundary). Fielders can effectively throw on the one bounce back to the keeper from the outer ring. Wicketkeepers can effectively take 80% of balls during a match cleanly. By 19 Has the required technique to field in 3 of the 3 areas (catching, inner ring and boundary). Fielders can effectively throw on the one bounce back to the keeper from the outer ring with enough pace and accuracy to effect run outs. Wicketkeepers can effectively take 90% of balls during a match cleanly.
