April 12 Grade 5 vaccinations AM Thank you to the regular group of parents who attend our monthly School Council meetings. They work diligently to enhance your child s educational experience at Saint Kateri Elementary School. Please consider becoming an active member of our School Council to help support our students and our school. Our next School Council meeting will be on Thursday, April 21th at 8:30 am. Please consider attending. April 13 Chris Brae (Faith Presentation) April 15 World Fitness Boot camp session (all classes) April Lacrosse - all classes I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents who attended our recent Parent-Student-Teacher conferences. The support of your child s learning is critical to their success in school. If you did not have an opportunity to attend these important conferences, please call your child s teacher to make a separate appointment. April 20 Special lunch April 21 School council 8:30-All welcome April 22 Earth Day There are a number of field trips coming up this spring. In order to ensure the success of these trips, we require parent volunteers to accompany the students and teachers. To volunteer you must have attended a Volunteer Orientation. If you have not attended a Volunteer Orientation this year, please call the school office during regular office hours (8:00 am 3:30 pm) to book a time for an orientation. Alberta Choralfest Congratulations A huge congratulations goes out to Miss Yip and the Saint Kateri Junior and Senior Choirs for their fantastic performance at this year s Choralfest! The students worked hard in preparation for the event and performed very well. The junior choir received a Silver rating and the senior choir received a Gold rating from the adjudicator. Congratulations and thank you for proudly representing Saint Kateri. A huge thanks to Miss. Yip for her guidance and dedication to our skt students. We would also like to thank the parent volunteers who were able to come along and support the students. Thank you for your time!

4 PARISH NEWS St Mark s Parish Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary THE 33RD ANNUAL OUTDOOR WAY OF THE CROSS This event on Good Friday, March 25th, 2016 starts at 9:30am at St. Mary s Cathedral. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 8:30am. After 32 years, we have retired the old cross. If you would like to be present for the blessing of the new cross, please gather in front of St. Mary s Cathedral for 9:00am. As in years past, Bishop Henry will be leading us on the first Station. Please note: Cars parked at La Chaumiere Restaurant or Alberta Ballet will be ticketed and towed. 7 Your School Council is an integral part of the school community. School Council in made up of parent volunteers who dedicate themselves to helping make our school a fantastic place to learn, play and work. Our meetings are held the third Thursday of each month. Our next meeting will be April 8:30 AM We are consistently pleased with the turnout of parents for every meeting that we hold. School Council meetings are an opportunity to obtain information on the daily activities at the school in an open and relaxed environment. Over the last year we have monitored attendance and polled parents for council meeting time preferences. A motion to have council meetings held at 8:30 was put forth and past. Council will reevaluate this decision if there is interest and commitment shown for an alternate time. We are currently looking for a Vice chair, Treasurer and Special Events Coordinator. If any of these is a positions interests you, or you know of someone that would be interested, please contact Stacey We would love to have you! SPECIAL LUNCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We have currently 130 students registered on our special lunch program with All special lunches are submitted online and paid for online. If you have not already registered your child in the program, we invite you to do so. Our next Special Lunch is scheduled for April 20with Mary Brown s Chicken! Look for Mr. Sub coming at the end of May. Please check the Healthy Hunger Website for all the dates that are currently booked. St. Kateri offers the students a special lunch each month, a School Council initiative which is reliant on volunteers. The funds raised from these special lunches go towards paying for the Playday at the end of the year. The school needs parents to volunteer if we are to maintain this valuable program.
