CALL 1 Dispatch: Santa Fe regional dispatch this is Daniel. Hotel desk: Hi Daniel, I'm calling from the El Dorado Hotel and uh we have a guest that has been partying in their room. They've been warned already. And they're still not quieting down. They were told to leave and uh we were told to call you guys. 465 Hotel desk: So if we could have them escorted off the property... Dispatch: They were warned, you said? Hotel desk: Yes. They've been warned numerous times throughout the night and they're still at it. Dispatch: What is your name? Hotel desk: [Desk clerk's name redacted by KOB.] Dispatch: [Desk clerk's name redacted by KOB.] Hotel desk: Yes. I'm here at the front desk. Dispatch: Okay do you know if they have any weapons or anything like that? Hotel desk: Uh, no. I don't. Hotel desk: I just know they were throwing, uh, bottles off the balcony, I believe, earlier. Dispatch: Oh, they were throwing bottles off? Hotel desk: Yes. Dispatch: What's the number you're calling from? Hotel desk: The number is Dispatch: OK. Dispatch: OK. We're gonna get them (an officer to get them?? -KOB) out of the hotel, OK? Hotel desk: Ok thanks. Do you need security to meet them? Dispatch: Yeah I'm sure it would help, um just a little bit of extra people. Hotel desk: OK Thank you. Dispatch: Okay bye CALLS 2 and 3 Dispatch: Santa Fe dispatch, this is (inaudible) how may I help you? Hotel desk: Hi I just spoke with you calling from the El Dorado. Dispatch: Um OK and what can I help you with Hotel desk: Um I actually have someone that would like to speak with you Dispatch: Okay? Hotel desk: Ok, hold on one second.
(1:59) MARTINEZ: Helloooo? Dispatch: Yes, this is (inaudible) with the Santa Fe Police Department. Martinez: Hi, this is Governor Susana Martinez. Dispatch: What can I do for you? Martinez: Yes, tell me what the complaint is? Dispatch: I'm sorry, what? Martinez: Tell me what the complaint is. Dispatch: What do you mean? Martinez: Why are you coming to the El Dorado Hotel? Dispatch: Because we were called out there. Martinez: For what purpose? Dispatch: Uh, reference loud noise...? Martinez: Loud noise?? We're in a room eating pizza. Dispatch: I'm sorry, someone called us out there and we had to go. Martinez: Someone? Who is someone? Dispatch: I can't give you that information ma'am. Martinez: Why can you not? It's public record, give it to me. Dispatcher: Give me one second, ma'am. Dispatcher: Give me one second, ma'am, I'm going to connect you to my supervisor, OK? Martinez: Thank you. -- KOB note: The recording continues and at Martinez can be heard talking to someone, possibly a hotel staff member, asking if "is it possible another resident had made a complaint?" (ends at 3:48:17) KOB note: Hotel staff says something like "yeah, someone came down."-- Martinez: What room number? Hotel staffer: Um, I'm not allowed to say. Martinez Tell me! What room number? Hotel staffer: I'm not allowed to say. Martinez: Are they on the fourth floor? Are they next door to our room? Hotel staffer: They're in that area. Martinez: What area? Are they next door? Hotel staffer: I don't know.
Martinez: I want to know who they are. --KOB note: Staffer continues to say she can't tell them. -- Martinez: Oh you can talk to the police but they won't tell you, you won't tell me? I'll get it from the cops. Dispatch: Okay ma'am I'm transferring you now. Martinez: Yes, I have the... Dispatch: No, I'm transferring you now, ma'am. Martinez: Yes I have the Santa Fe Police Department right here with me. Dispatch: Um, okay. Do you want to speak to them then or me? Martinez: No, I want to talk to you. Tell me who's made the complaint. Dispatch: Can I transfer you to my supervisor, ma'am? Martinez: You've been trying to do that for a while. Dispatch: I'm doing that now. Martinez: Thank you. --KOB note: Call is transferred to commander. -- Dispatch: Santa Fe area (inaudible) How may I help you? Martinez: Yeah, tell me what the issue is. Dispatch: I'm sorry? Martinez: Tell me what the issue is Dispatcher: I'm sorry? Martinez: Tell me what the issue is please over here at the Eldorado Hotel on the fourth floor? Dispatcher: Um, I didn't know that there was an issue going on, ma'am? Martinez: Oh, I didn't think you did. Well tell me why you have two officers here? Dispatcher: Um we have a call at the Eldorado Hotel saying there's a party in the room. Martinez: So? Dispatcher: So they called us and asked us to send somebody out there. Martinez: Who did? Dispatcher: The front desk. Martinez: Oh, the front desk did. Now tell me where the front desk got that complaint from. Dispatcher: I don't have that information you have to talk to-- Martinez: So you just sent police over to shut down a room?
Dispatcher: To go to speak to individuals about a party. Martinez: Ok so we're sitting in there, I'm the governor of the state of New Mexico, and we're in there with my sister who is disabled along with about six other people who are having pizza. Dispatcher: OK. Are they still there? Martinez: Yes they are. Dispatcher: OK, um, it's showing that we have a commander there as well. Martinez: Who's the commander? Dispatch: You said what? Martinez: Who's the commander? Dispatch: Uh, Captain (inaudible) Martinez: Anthony (KOB note: Amanda perhaps??) Tapia? Martinez: Hello Commander. Yes, why does this require 30 police officers to be here? Dispatch: Uh, their response is up to them depending on the severity of the call. Martinez: Um, we're all in a room eating pizza. Dispatch: Okay, well that wasn't what was reported to us. Martinez: What was reported to you? Dispatch: That there was a party and people were throwing bottles off the balcony. Martinez: I'm sorry there's no one on the balcony and there's no one throwing bottles off the balcony. And if they were, it was about six hours ago. Dispatch: Ok, well we got a complaint from the front desk and asked us to send units out so we did. Martinez: And the front desk got that complaint from whom? Dispatch: I don't know, they didn't identify themselves. Martinez: They didn't advise which room? Martinez: So a general complaint. Dispatch: Yes ma'am. Martinez: OK, Commander? May I speak with you please? Who is the complainant? --KOB note: She can be heard on the recording speaking to an officer asking who made the complaint. The officer's response cannot be distinguished Martinez: There's no one that's been throwing bottles. I've been in that room for at least TWO hours and if there was, it was about six hours ago. Officer: I understand. We just have to make sure things are OK (inaudible)
Martinez: Everything is...we are eating pizza! And drinking Cokes. And - whoever was throwing bottles, is not there and hasn't been there for, like, six hours. Martinez: Thank you very much. We appreciate it. There's no necessary...it's not necessary for your office to be here. Dispatch: OK? Martinez: Thank you. Call them off. Goodbye. (AUDIO ENDS)
