4 DEVICE OVERVIEW Logging In Power on the When the login screen is displayed, read your ID card or type your ID in the field. Then tap the PIN field and enter your pin. Once entered, tap Log In. If you are part of a team of drivers, tap the Team button prior to entering your information. Then enter your ID and PIN. Tap Log In and the second driver will be prompted to enter their ID and PIN. Home Screen 4 Application Tiles Each tile represents an application installed on the Tap to open any application. For more tiles tap the > symbol to the right of the screen. Driver In the upper right corner, the active driver s name is displayed. To change drivers or to Log Out, tap the name. Notification Bar The notification bar displays the date, time, battery, and connection status. Application warnings and other alerts and information are also displayed here. Bottom Tool Bar Applications on the 2020 can be accessed quickly by tapping their icon. Also available is the 2020 Tools menu. NOTE: To see what each notification means, tap and hold the top of the screen and then drag all the way down. This will open the notification window and explain each of the displayed icons.

5 DEVICE OVERVIEW Tools Menu Tapping the Tools icon in the bottom bar will give you access to other applications and tools, including 2020 Help for each application, 2020 Quick Tips, and User Guide. Tools available through the tools menu: Calculator Camera Take photos with the 2020, including defects during an EVIR Gallery Access photos taken with the 2020, including photographed defects during an EVIR Clock The 2020 clock is set based on the GPS unit in the asset. However, the clock includes the ability to set alarms Browser When connected to WiFi, you can browse the Internet Settings Configure and set preferences for the 2020, including: Sounds, WiFi, Display, Language, Brightness, etc. 5

6 DEVICE OVERVIEW 2020 Help To access the 2020 User Guide, Quick Tips, and Application Specific help, tap the Tools button on the tool bar, then tap the Help icon. Alternatively, anytime you are in an application, pressing the hard menu button will make the help icon available. Each of the help sections goes further into detail on the 2020 or a specific application and provides tips and task based guides. Using a Resistive Screen Unlike most smart phones and other tables, the 2020 uses a Resistive screen which means it requires a firmer, stronger touch than Capacitive screens that rely on heat. This allows you to use Gloved fingers with the device. It may also be easier to use a stylus when operating the 2020, but do not use sharp objects or ballpoint pens, as damage may occur to the screen. 6

7 NAVIGATION! Distracted Driving Warning Do not use this device while the vehicle is in motion or in any other driving situation. Using the device while driving can create dangerous situations where the driver may not be focused on the road or task at hand. Home Screen Map Displays the driver s current position, route and destination. It may also display additional information such as traffic details or points of interest. Navigation Tools/Menu A customizable suite of displays that can display information to the driver such as ETA, ETT, directions and more. This information can be easily customized. Tapping on either of the displays will allow selection of the information shown. Driver Warning/Alert If the account is configured to alert drivers when nearing or crossing certain thresholds, these notifications will be displayed here. ZLogs Clock Shows the driver s least remaining time for the category. (Visible only if ZLogs is installed on the same device.) Update Status A stationary driver or co-driver can update their duty status by tapping this button. (This is only available to a co-driver, or if the vehicle is not in motion.) 7

8 NAVIGATION What are the warnings and what do they mean? An optional feature that may or may not be available on the 2020, alerts a driver that exceeds set speed limits or idle times, and displays a warning on the right toolbar that issues visual and audible warnings to drivers. Warnings are indicated by blue signs and provide notification to the driver. These are not reported to the back office system and are meant to act as a reminder for a driver to stop a behavior before it becomes reportable. Alerts are indicated by yellow signs and notify the drivers that their behavior or violation has been noted and the back office system will be informed of it in the drivers performance reports. 9 NAVIGATION How Do I Update My Duty Status? If necessary, the driver may use the side toolbar to update their duty status. Please refer to the ZLogs help for instructions on updating duty status. NOTE: This is only available to the co-driver, or if the vehicle is not moving. Where can I view additional information on the Navigation application? The Navigation application uses the CoPilot Truck software. Further information can be obtained from the CoPilotTruck manual or on ALK s support site: How do I ensure my asset profile is correct? NOTE: Before adjusting the Asset Profile (Height, Width, Weight, Hazardous Cargo, etc.), you must coordinate with your dispatcher. Either the Dispatcher in Ground Traffic Control or you (on the 2020 Tablet) should set the Asset Profile, but not both. To adjust the Truck Routing Profile, launch the Navigation application. Once in the navigation application, press the hard menu button, which will bring up the Navigation Menu. Tap the Route at the bottom of the screen and then tap Truck Routing Profile. Enter in all of the necessary information (e.g. Height, Width, Weight, Hazardous Cargo, etc.) to ensure a proper and safe route to your destination. 9

10 10 ZLOGS Home Screen 1. Update Duty Status This is a quick way to update the driver s duty status from within the ZLogs application. 2. Driving Exemption Based on a driver s ruleset, a driving exemption may be available. The driver can apply the exemption by tapping on this tab. 3. Update Load The driver can associate load information to their log; this tab allows the entry of that information. 4. Confirm Logs If a driver has logs to confirm, this tab allows them to review and confirm those logs. The total number of logs requiring confirmation is displayed. 5. Verify Edits Edits made by the driver s dispatcher require verification; this tab allows the driver to verify those edits. The total number of log-edits requiring verification is displayed. 6. Logged In Drivers If only one driver is logged in, his logs are displayed. If more than one driver is logged in, this toggle allows the display of each of those drivers logs. 7. Logs Toggle Allows the driver to adjust the number of days displayed in the log; e.g. either today or the entire current duty period configured by the driver s dispatcher. 8. Grid/List Toggle A driver s logs can be displayed in the traditional Grid View or in a list view, which will display each entry, and the details in an itemized list. 9. Totals The totals for either Today or the entire duty period will be displayed based on the Logs toggle. 10. Remaining The driver s remaining time for today and the current duty period are displayed. 11. Log View Based on the Grid/List Toggle, the driver s logs will be displayed and may require scrolling to view all of the entries or days.

11 EVIR Home Screen Additional Help: From the home screen of the 2020: tap Tools, tap Help, then tap the desired topic. 1. New Inspection This tab displays information relevant to the asset about to be inspected. 2. History This tab displays the inspection history of all assets inspected with this Inspection Types This tab allows the user to favorite the inspections they use most and check for updates to the installed inspection configurations. 4. Asset Profile This button will bring up the profile of the current asset associated with the GPS device the 2020 is docked in; such as asset number, manufacturer, tag number, VIN and asset type. 5. Last Inspection This provides a snapshot of information relevant to the last inspection, such as if the vehicle is safe to drive or in need of repair. In this example, the previous inspection is unavailable, therefore it states not to drive. If a defect is creating the status, a total will be displayed in case there is more than one defect noted in a previous inspection. 6. Start New Inspection This begins the vehicle inspection process. 7. Flashlight Tapping this button will activate the built-in LED flashlight on the

12 EVIR Attaching a Photo If an inspection requires a photograph of a damaged component, you can use the camera built into the 2020 to include the photo with the inspection. After tapping No, indicating that not all elements are ok, select the Component to define the condition and then tap Add Pictures at the top. NOTE: It is possible to add up to three photos per defect and a total of five photos per inspection. Favorite Inspection Types NOTE: Once a inspection is complete, the inspection will upload, but the photos will be pending until the 2020 is able to connect to a WiFi network. From the EVIR home screen, tapping Inspection Types in the left column will display all of the inspection types loaded on the Inspection types that are used more frequently can be set as a favorite by tapping the Star along the right side of the inspection type. Any inspection type that has been set as a favorite will display at the top of the inspection type list when performing a new inspection. 12

13 EVIR Review Previous Inspections To review an asset s previous inspections, open the EVIR application by tapping on the tile. Then, once in the application, select the History button in the left column. The list can be filtered by Inspection Type or by Asset if the 2020 is used to inspect more than one asset. View the Details of the previous inspection by tapping on the inspection in the list. Zones Without Defects will be grouped and zones With a reported defect will be displayed at the bottom of the list. Missing or Unreadable Zone Tag If you are performing an inspection and a zone tag is missing or will not read, you may need to perform an Unverified inspection. To perform the Unverified inspection, tap and hold the zone that you need to inspect. You will then be prompted for your Driver ID and PIN. Once you have entered this information, you will perform the inspection as you would any other zone. NOTE: Unverified inspections are tagged in Ground Traffic Control and should only be done when necessary. In some cases, your dispatcher may instruct you not to proceed if a zone tag is missing or unreadable. 13

14 Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is a zone tag? A: A zone tag is affixed to the asset and will be read during an inspection. These zones signify areas where the inspection is to be performed. The location and number of zones vary on the asset and inspection configuration. Example zones include: left front, engine, cab, or right rear. Q: What is a Component? A: When performing an inspection, each zone will have a list of components that should be inspected. After reading a zone tag, the related list of components will be displayed. Example components include: tire, fan belt, emergency brake, or turn signal. Q: What is a Condition? A: When performing an inspection, each zone will list the components being inspected. The condition of each of those components should be determined. example conditions include: broken, missing, bent, or torn. Q: What is Defect Status? A: When an inspection is performed, a defect status is set based on conditions defined by the inspector. If the inspector determines that a noted Condition is a Critical Defect, the status of the asset will be RED and the asset will be OOS (Out of Service) and not drivable. If the inspector determines that a noted Condition is a Conditional Defect or Non- Critical Defect, the status of the asset will be YELLOW and the asset will be considered drivable. If the inspector determines that there are no noted Conditions, the asset s defect status will be GREEN. 14 FAQ

15 FAQ Q: Why does the 2020 say Do Not Drive but my inspection was Green? A: The overall asset status is determined by the most severe defect status. If there was a previous inspection that reported a RED defect that has not been marked as repaired by the mechanic, the status of the asset remains RED. Q: How do I view my available hours? A: Your available hours are visible in a number of locations. When driving, you can see remaining available hours on the ZLogs tile located on the 2020 home screen. Within Navigation, the remaining hours are on the right side of the screen. Within the ZLogs application, both the hours used and the remaining hours are displayed above the grid. Q: How do I sign off on my logs and when do I need to so? A: The 2020 refers to signing off on logs as Confirming your logs. Based on your company s requirements, this time frame may vary. The 2020 will display a Thumbs Up icon on the home screen and will prompt you to confirm the logs when entering the ZLogs application when necessary. Follow the on screen prompts to confirm the logs. Q: What happens if Law Enforcement wants to view my logs? A: Open the ZLogs application and set it to the seven or eight day view. Hand the 2020 to the officer. If the officer requests your logs sent via or fax, call your dispatcher and give their the instructions provided by the officer. It is also possible to send your dispatcher a message with the
