1 SCHOOL PROFILE Scecina Memorial High School is a co-educational institution of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis. We offer a college preparatory program that serves learners of all achievement levels. Scecina educates the whole student through a challenging academic curriculum and a rich offering of student life programs that foster spiritual, physical and social growth. MISSION Scecina Memorial High School, a Catholic, college preparatory school, bears witness to Jesus Good News by educating our diverse community of students in spirit, mind and body to become servants and leaders who give that little extra.

3 CURRICULUM Scecina is a college preparatory high school. We emphasize Advanced Placement, dual credit,, honors, and academic level courses. Our Learning Differences program emphasizes remediation that will close gaps for students with academic challenges, so that they may pursue a post-secondary education. The academic honors diploma is strongly encouraged. Scecina requires two years of a world language for graduation. Students typically take eight classes per semester and attend classes 7.5 hours a day. The Indiana Department of Education has designated Scecina Memorial High School as an Exemplary School under Indiana s accountability law. Scecina is currently ranked # 1 of all Indiana Archdiocesan schools with a perfect 100% performance rating (2011). CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE The Cumulative Grade Point Average is determined by dividing the total number of honor points awarded for each final grade of a semester and earned during regular semesters by the number of credits attempted. Summer school and/or night school credits, as well as college credits, are recorded on the permanent record and are used to determine the grade point average. High school courses taken at the middle school level at an accredited school are recognized as high school credits; however, the final grade awarded for the course will appear on the student s permanent transcript and will be considered in the determination of credits required by the state of Indiana for graduation. CLASS RANK The Cumulative Grade Point Average determines a student s class rank. HONOR SCALES The High Honor Roll (Honor Roll 1 as distinguished on report cards and on the permanent record) is determined each quarter and/or semester by including all students with a 3.5 GPA for that grading period. Students with a C or lower in any class cannot be on the High Honor Roll. The Honor Roll (Honor Roll 2) is determined by including all students with a 3.0 GPA for that grading period. Students with a D or F in any class cannot be on the Honor Roll. 4 ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) Scecina s Advanced Placement courses are open to those students who have taken the appropriate prerequisite courses and have demonstrated the ability to succeed in rigorous college preparatory classes.
