The first step of its brand new online activity with Odoo is to build the main pages of its website. 3 Build your Website as never before 3.1 Build your First Pages You believe that creating a nice company website embedding rich functionality and powerful content is reserved only for expert designers or IT guys, don t you? Well, times are changing! Install the Website Builder application from Odoo.com. Follow the short introduction tutorial: Design your home page using building blocks. Create a new page Our Story from the Content menu item and add it to the menu. Build this new page. Create a new menu entry (e.g. About us). Do not create a new page, just enter the URL of the main page since you have to fill in at least one field. Change the order of the menu items. A simple drag & drop will do the trick (e.g. put Contact us and Our Story as children of About us). What you see is what you get! 2

3 3.2 Choose your Preferred Website Theme Odoo gives you the opportunity to choose from several website themes. In the Customize menu in the top edition bar, click Change Theme and select your own style. From the same menu, you can also apply other layout customizations below the Main Layout title. Possibilities are specific to each kind of page (standard page, contact form, product page, etc.). Do not forget to have a look at this in the next chapters. 4 Promote your Webiste 4.1 Promote your Website Odoo s Promote tool (SEO) suggests keywords according to the most searched terms on Google in order to optimize the referencing of your website pages. See how easy it is? From the website home page, click Promote. Add keywords related to your homepage content in order to get the most searched topics related to those, ordered by importance. Add some most search topics related to your initial keywords in the content of your homepage. They are now highlighted in blue in the Promote tool: in light blue if it is in the content and in dark blue if it is in the page title. Add those items as new keywords in order to go further. You can add untill 10 keywords. Then, customize the page title and description to display in Google by using your keywords. For products, events, etc., the title field is automatically updated from each item s name. You have thus optimized the referencing of your page on Google. 3

4 4.2 Push Visitors to Share your Website Content through Social Media Social Media enable to easily reach a massive audience. To take advantage of this, Odoo embeds a simple call-toaction button allowing any visitor to share a page through his social media networks. Add the Share button in your main page (Insert Blocks Content). By clicking on the small icon, the visitor can easily share the current page on social media like Twitter and Facebook. 5 Get Closer to your Visitors 5.1 Translate your Website in Foreign Languages Managing several translations in traditional websites is such a nightmare! In Odoo it can be done in seconds! At the bottom of your main website page, click Add a language in order to install a second language in your system. Then go back to the main page and click on the new language installed in order to switch to the version to translate. You now have the opportunity to directly translate your content from the final rendering. The remaining content to be translated is highlighted in yellow. Translate also the menu entries. As a conclusion, building your own website has never been this easy and funny! And that is just the beginning... No need for special chat server, everything is done directly on your website. Pop-up chat window appears on the screen as soon as someone visits your website. Provide your visitors with information in a fast and simple way! Install Live Support module. 4

5 Apply a Live Chat Channel to your website from Settings Website Settings Live Chat Channel. Select YourWebsiteWithOdoo.com. Connect to this Channel from Messaging Live Chat Channels. Open YourWebsite.com, change the and click Join. As a visitor: Refresh the website; There is a new popup in the bottom right corner of the screen that allows you to chat: e.g. What is the price of...?. Reply to him as the admin.
