Select Vendor for Spacewire ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Documentation Develop drafts of: ICDH Box and Card Level Specifications Interface Control Documents Box and Card Level Test Plans and Procedures Complete Configuration Control Board (CCB) process for: Verification Plan I&T Plan Key Risk Mitigation Activities Progress toward SDRAM verification (256 Mb Hitachi dies, stacked 2x3) Progress toward TRL5 for Spacewire Complete ICDH System Concept Review June 04 (now late July) 06/17/2004 TIPS/JIM 8/15
9 ICDH SRR Summary Results Very good review. Panel seemed pleased with the presentation. Concerns about missing/unclear higher-level requirements, primarily those on total data throughput for Spacewire. Kriss developed science use cases that were given to GSFC in support of answering the RFA on this issue. Philosophy and approach to EMI/EMC testing was discussed extensively. The panel recognized that systems-level testing was important in missions with low-noise detectors. Note that the EMI/EMC working group being led by John McCloskey at GSFC is aware of this and is studying all the relevant issues. 06/17/2004 TIPS/JIM 9/15

13 ISIM FSW Risks The ISIM FSW is built by geographically diverse development teams, and there is limited system integration with flight hardware. There is no one place that the integrated FSW system (SC ISIM SI) is tested against high fidelity hardware. There is no high fidelity Spacecraft/SRR simulation resident in the FSW Development/Test Lab. The Common Command & Data Handling (CCDH) shared resource approach requires a well documented, simple interface for the SI teams. Mission Operations Requirements have not been flowed down from the Operational Concept into Mission Requirements Documents. 06/17/2004 TIPS/JIM 13/15

15 ISIM FSW SRR Summary Results Mixed review. Passed, but many unsettled concerns. A follow-up table-top review will be held later this summer. Many requirements embodied in the Mission Ops Concept Document have not been properly captured in the Mission-level or ISIM-level requirements. Interfaces were not clearly specified, especially to the ground system. Lots of discussion of the STScI event-driven concept based on the Observation Plan Executive (OPE) and the associated scripting engine, the Activity Description Processor (ADP). Many panel members expressed reservations about the apparent complexity of the OPE and ADP. Much confusion on the part of the GSFC FSW team as to how this works and why it is a good idea. Presenters, GSFC ISIM team, and reviewers all want a trade study. This is in work, being lead by Ken Rehm, the JWST Mission Software Lead, at GSFC. 06/17/2004 TIPS/JIM 15/15
