Swofford, Ed.D., Executive Director 2002 Spring Credential Workshops The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing invites you to attend the 2002 Spring Credential Workshops. The purpose of the workshops is to share information about recent changes to statutes, regulations and procedures that affect credential requirements and applications. The workshops will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will end at noon. Subjects on this year's agenda include: SB 2042 implementation SB 395 Approved Programs SB 299 Various Provisions Limited Assignments SB 57 Private School Exp AB 1059 AB 837 Emergency Permits Computer Technology Out-of-State Special Education Professional Growth Audit For the second year the Commission, through county offices of education, is offering both live sites and video teleconferencing sites. The video teleconferencing sites are noted with a V. The scheduled dates and locations are listed below. Some sites request that you RSVP to the individual site. From the North Exit Freeway 99 at the Herndon Ave. exit, cross back over the freeway, go to signal light and turn left. Travel approximately 12.5 miles to Sunnyside Ave. Turn right on Sunnyside and then left on David E. Cook Way. Go straight for approximately _ mile. The building is on your right. From the South Exit Freeway 99 on to Freeway 41 North (toward Yosemite). Take 41 North to Freeway 180 East. Take 180 East to Freeway 168 East. Exit 168 at the Herndan Ave. Exit. Turn right at the signal on to Herndon and go to Sunnyside Ave. Turn right onto Sunnyside and the left onto David E. Cook Way. Go straight for approximately _ mile. The building is on your right. 3 KERN COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS OFFICE: Judy Blanton (661) , th Street, Bakersfield, CA From North: Take I-5 South to Bakersfield exit, Highway 58. Go East on 58. This highway will turn in to Rosedale Highway. Continue East past Highway 99. The name of the Street will change again to 24th Street. Continue to Chester Avenue. Turn right (south) on Chester and continue to 18th Street. Turn left on 18th and continue to parking structure entrance just past K Street. From South: Take 1-5 North to California Avenue exit. Go East (right) on California Avenue to Chester Avenue. Go north to 18th Street. Turn right and continue on to parking structure entrance just past K Street. There will be additional parking available in the Bank of America parking structure (3rd level) on 17th Street between K and L Streets. RSVP Judy to attend the workshop. Drive west on Freitas Parkway. At the third stoplight (Safeway will be on your left), turn right on Las Gallinas Avenue. Go two blocks to the first stop sign. The Marin County Office of Education will be on your left. MENDOCINO COUNTY OFFICE: Janice Brown (707) , 2240 Eastside Road, Ukiah, CA Located in the suburb of Talmage, southeast area of Ukiah. From Highway 101 north or south, take the Talmage exit, drive east on Talmage Road, right on Eastside Road (go one-tenth of a mile) and look for the "Mendocino County Schools" sign, right onto the driveway to parking lot, enter glass doors on building marked "MCOE Entrance". 4 ORANGE COUNTY OFFICE: Joy Carter (714) , Kalmus Drive, Costa Mesa, CA From the San Diego Freeway (405) take the Bristol exit, drive south on Bristol to Baker, turn left and go to Red Hill, turn right and go to Kalmus, turn right on Kalmus. From North: Take I-15 South to 163, South to Friars Road, West: turn right on Via Las Cumbres, go to top of the hill, turn right on Linda Vista Road, OR take I-5 to Sea World Drive exit, turn right and drive to Friars Road, turn left, then at the second stop light (Via Las Cumbres) turn left. From South: Take I-8 to 163 North, drive to Friars Road West, then follow directions above, OR take I-5 to Sea World Drive exit then follow directions above. SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION Rita Bianchi (209) , Professional Development Center, 2857 Transworld Drive, Stockton, California Highway 99 (coming from North or South) Take the Arch Road exit off of Highway 99. Proceed West on Arch Road to Qantas. Turn right on Qantas to Transworld Drive. Left on Transworld Drive to the SJCOE- Professional Development Center at 2857 Transworld Drive. (The PDC is in the red brick building in the middle of the block, and is located toward the rear of the building). I-5 If traveling South through Stockton, take the Highway 4 exit to Highway 99 (Crosstown Freeway). Proceed South on Highway 99 to the Arch Road exit it s about 5 miles down the highway. Proceed West on Arch Road to Qantas, turn right on Qantas, then left on Transworld Drive. (The PDC is in the red brick building in the middle of the block, and is located toward the rear of the building). If traveling north on I-5 toward Stockton, take the Lathrop Road exit to Highway 99. Proceed north on Highway 99 to the Arch Road exit.

5 SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION: Kathryn Benson, (805) , San Luis Obispo, CA From the South (Ventura/Santa Barbara): North 101 to Hearst Castle, Highway 1, Morro Bay offramp in San Luis Obispo. Turn right on Santa Rosa (heading north toward Morro Bay). Santa Rosa turns into Highway 1. Stay on Highway 1 toward Morro Bay for approximately 6 1/2 miles. Turn right into San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (across from Cuesta College.) Go past construction site along frontage road to second building on right. There is a sign posted that says Personnel and Fingerprinting. Park in either the upper or lower parking lot. From the North (Monterey): South 101 to California Street Offramp in San Luis Obispo. Turn right on California to first signal. Stay in center left-turn lane. Turn left onto Foothill Blvd and continue three blocks to next signal with is Santa Rosa Street. Turn right on Santa Rosa (heading north toward Morro Bay). Santa Rosa turns into Highway 1. Stay on Highway 1 toward Morro Bay for approximately 6 1/2 miles. Turn right into San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (across from Cuesta College.) Go past construction site along frontage road to second building on right. Brokaw Road, left on Brokaw Road, left on Ridder Park Drive. From Hwy 101 South: Take I-880 North exit, to Brokaw Road East exit, right on Brokaw, left on Ridder Park Drive. From I-880 North: Exit Brokaw Road, left on Brokaw Road, left on Ridder Park Drive. From I-880 South: Exit Brokaw Road East, right on Brokaw Road, left on Ridder Park Drive. Burrel Street, Visalia, CA From North or South: Highway 99 to Highway 198 East (Central Visalia exit) to County Center Drive (K-Mart on the right). Turn left. Continue through stop light at Mineral King, the street curves east and becomes Main Street. Take the first right-hand turn onto Woodland Street, then turn right to Burrel. RSVP Enid.

6 TUOLUMNE COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION: Bonnie Hahn, (209) , 175 South Fairview Lane, Sonora, CA From the West: Take Highway 108 through Oakdale and Jamestown. Highway 49 will merge with 108. Approximately 1 mile past Jamestown take Highway 49/Downtown Sonora exit. Continue on 49 into Sonora. The Fairgounds will be on your right. Turn left just prior to Sonora Gold Lodge Motel which is across from the Fairgrounds. From Angels Camp: Take Highway 49 through downtown Sonora. The Fairgrounds will be on your left. Turn right just past the motel. County office is directly behind the motel. It is a two story beige building with dark green awnings. Parking available behind the office. RSVP Bonnie. STATE TRAINING CENTER, SACRAMENTO Space is very limited at the State Training Center, if you wish to attend either of the Sacramento live workshops you must make a reservation. The State Training Center is located at 1515 "S" Street, North Building, Suite 108, Sacramento, CA The nearest cross streets are 15th Street and R Street. It is on the first floor of the North building. You will find it most convenient to enter the State Training Center from the 15th Street side that leads directly to our reception area and classroom directory. A parking garage is located on R Street between 15th and 16th Streets. The daily fee of $6 does not include in/out privileges. Note: The parking garage does not accept $20 bills. Metered parking is available on 15th and 16th Streets between P & Q Streets for $3 per day (12 quarters). Do not park in nearby street-level parking lots as these are pre-paid reserved parking for employees in other offices. If you park in one of these lots, your car may be towed.
