This workshop will address the ways in which the SBCBA should be altered and will include the sharing of feedback from broad conversations on the process. In addition, we will analyze the new SBCBA central arbitration processes, anticipating both substantive and procedural issues and problems. 5 OPSBA Friday, April 1 Workshop 3 Moving to a Provincial Benefits Plan A high level discussion about moving to Provincial Benefits Trusts and how this will impact school boards. This workshop will provide an overview on the operational and governmental aspects of the Trust, and will also provide details on the practical advantages this will bring. School boards have been discussing the advantages of moving to a Provincial Benefits Plan for many rounds of bargaining. A team from the Crown, led by Brian Blakeley, will discuss how this has changed the roles of the parties/participants at the bargaining table and beyond. 6 OPSBA Friday, April 1 Workshop 6 Local Bargaining Under the SBCBA A panel of experienced negotiators, who are also part of the OPSBA Labour Relations Council, will discuss strategies for local bargaining under the SBCBA and answer questions that participants may have about successful post bargaining relationships.
